Now, I'm not saying Wynne is a godless heathen, I'm just saying that she resisted the beard more than any other character I've tried.

Hmmmm, suddenly Wynne isn't so bad now.

I seriously disagree with everyone saying Eamon wouldn't eventaully talk Alistair into doing what he thinks is best. Alistair will do anything to please Eamon, and I think he knows it. Alistair needs a father figure. He may decline at first, but eventually I think it would likely happen.

The Alistair you first meet yes. The Alistair you put on the throne? No, not anymore. Unless he isn't hardened after his sister. By the end of the game, it's your PC he trusts, looks up to. Eamon is his past. Alistair has seen ALOT with you, learned alot, and changed alot. He isn't the same guy you met at Ostagar, he even tells you HE can lead, which is huge for him.

The fact that he won't fight with you in Awakening shows me just how much Eamon cares. But I guess Awakening is just a story disaster anyway. Best to just forget it exists in my book.

He can't fight with you in Awakening, not as king.  He has a kingdom to run.  I always saw the 'Eamon heart attack' as not a serious line about being concerned about what Eamon thinks, but more a reminder of his duties.

But the queen is ok to? Cailan fought in the battle. Many kings fight with their men.

Yes, but it's incredibly foolish for a king to fight on the front lines without an heir. And doubly so when the country is just recovering from a war, the king doesn't have to go and he's barely been king for what, six months? If one of the two known Wardens in Ferelden has to go, better for the non-ruling party.

He was doing King stuff in the Bannorn, because that stuff needed dealt with, and his duty as king had to come first. Our own fault for crowning him I guess.
it made sense he wouldn't fight with you. If you had the warden ending he has much less reason to not fight with you.

A serious threat like Awakening should take some precidence. And hello? I am supposed to be queen, but he just let's me go fight darkspawn with 3 others? I don't have a problem with Alistair not being there, even though it sucks. But the Eamon thing gets me.

If you make Wynne's hair black to match the beard she might actually make a pretty handsome man.

Ok and for everyone on this "Alistair has no heir" thing, Eamon knew Alistair was the last Theirin in Origins, but he still let him go with you to fight darkspawn. I'm just saying. Awakening doesn't take place in my eyes. I play it but it is a different game to me. They totally blew the pc's story anyway. I don't like Eamon and thats just my opinion of him. But no need to drag on another 5 pages of the thread on this argument again. Let's keep up this Duncan's beard awsomeness.

Eamon also doesn't seem to shed a lot of tears if Alsitair is executed, despite the fact that he was the one who kept pushing the idea of being King down Alistair's throat. Just saying. Since probably not many of you tried this.

Yes, and we saw how well that worked out.  There is no need for Alistair to fight in these battles, it is a foolish risk.  And yes, the queen is okay to fight for two reasons.  1) She is expendable.  2) She is probably the most powerful person in Ferelden.  She'll be okay.

Also, speaking of expendable, this looks like the most awesome movie EVAR!

In all fairness Eamon wouldn't of been able to deny Alistair marching w/ his men vs the darkspawn after the Landsmeet.  Part of the reason the Warden is even able to have such pull by that point is because Ferelden is on the verge of annihilation.

Really though, I don't think the heir issue is that important.  If Anora is put on the throne as a solo ruler she never remarries.  No man can ever compare to dear old dad.

Actually, I think quite a number of us have tried that (and then immediately reloaded after). And yeah, Eamon really seems to be protecting his own ass. I don't like him at all :/

I think he's a creepy old fart frankly, and dislike him..I don't hate him but I just don't think he stands a chance against PC+Alistair. BUT I have faith in Alistair, as king, to have a spine and stand up to him. It's not so much defense of Eamon, as defense of Alistair just not being gullible and stupid enough to listen to the old pervy stick in the mud.

I made the mistake and told him I'd rather be back in Court with him n his response didn't sound all that positive lol.  Like he was annoyed I'd even say that.

Like I said earlier about Eamon, I don't hate him but I don't trust him n if I can keep him away from Alistair as much as possible then I don't have to worry about him bringing up the damn heir conversation.

The thing is, is everything can be going great and all of a sudden here comes Eamon bringing up that conversation. How ackward and hard that would be yrs down the road and Eamon bringing it up.  Reminding Alistair and PC of the taint that's in them and knowing that the chances of concieving are getting slimmer and slimmer.  The older you get and the more the taint's taking it's toll out on you the less your going to be able to produce/concieve.  Even if Alistair was to find someone else by then it maybe to late anyways.

But Eamon's not aware of this, he's the one that pushed for Alistair to be on the throne, not knowing what the cost of being a Grey Warden is, he's unaware of this.

Um all I got to say is Fergus better have a child soon, and before PC/Alistair go to their Calling lol.  I can just picture it after the PC/Alistair go for their Calling and no heir around.  It would then be between Fergus (if HNF married Alistair) and Teagan.  Wonder who'd win lol.
