I know, he tends to do that.  I think he does that for any PC that he's not in a romance with.  I guess he gives brownie points to his lover.

No, he and my male PC were BFF's, Aedan told him he would gladly help him etc., and he still got a -2.  Alistair is just not happy about being king.

Well, I ran the execution and exile scenarios.  I can't say it affected me much because there was too much of an air of unreality about it, since it's something my PCs would never do.  One thing that did surprise me is that he says "I didn't want to be king, and I still don't."  I had always said that a hardened Alistair wanted to be king.  He doesn't, he's just more willing to accept it and see the good in it.

it's called ef_har_jaheira or something like that, i'm not sure.

Did you do them with Aedan or one of your female PCs that were in a relationship with him? You won't get The Line ("I..I guess this is good-bye. I had no idea that it would end like this for us.") if he's not in love with you.

Now on my rogue, he did want it. It was the first time I'd seen him say that. i think it's more to do with the way it happens. At that point being king is the only way to get what he wants, he has no choice. If you are choosing, and ask him if he...crap I forget the dialog choice, it wasn't are you ready, but one of the others he'll tell you he wants it, and why.

I did it on DEF and got that line, yes.  It's heartrending to imagine but like I said, it just didn't feel real.

This might make it easier next HNM I do to maybe marry Anora and keep Alistair as a GW.  He really doesn't want the throne even if he is hardened.  One reason if I make him king I won't leave him to do it alone.  I will always be in the picture somehow unless my PC US'es.

Yes, he alway expresses forcefully that he wants it if you ask him in the "Warden decides" scenario.  I guess it would make a difference if he was being forced to take it by you conscripting Loghain.

Edit:  Though if you probe a little deeper in that "what do you think I should do?" conversation with him at the LM, it's obvious that he's telling you he wants to be king because he thinks it's the best thing to end the Blight and not because it's what he personally wants.  Which is not what I'd expect of Alistair anyway.  He's not going to turn around and become a power-hungry guy, hardened or not.  In my view, that very fact makes him the better candidate.

ugh that thing is nasty. Like I say, I don't mind hair changes/scruff but total facial rearrangements and color changes are less easy to accept....then mixing Loghain with Alistair is so many different shades of WRONG!!! BLECH!

I liked the hair, I just didn't like the big ears.  Not a fan of hokey elf-ears.
