Perhaps I'm by passing the event trigger by picking the lock vs talking to the guard?

Well, since I'm a war, I can click on the door and nothing happens b/c I have no lockpick.  And then I can choose calling the guard, faking ilnness, etc...

And I love that I punch him hard enough to kill him.  I think when Alistair and I sneak out to go to taverns, we have to be really careful not to get into any tavern brawls.

Yes, I'm not sure I understood every panel, but it seems like he starts out passive and thinking about his lover, then as he begins to picture her walking into the mouth of the archdemon (that's the one panel where Aeducan is in the mouth of a dragon, no??), that's when he flips Morrigan over and gets at it.  I think it's a plausible scenario.  Like aimo said in the comments, I hate that the scene plays as if it's a regular tent scene, and that Alistair gets the same scene as if it was a male PC in a romance with Morrigan.  WTH is that?

Everything after the Landsmeet is really poorly done, it's fairly obvious that the devs ran out of time and/or funds.  There's so much in the Toolset it seems like for a while they were unsure as to what, where and who was going to actually be included in the game.  Really Awakening is like that too.  It has a good beginning and middle but fails to deliver w/ the ending.

I had the impression as well. When I have the landmeet done, I really found it difficult for me to go through the rest of the game. Therefore is the freshly annouced Queen Leandra Cousland still parked in camp after it. I just can't bring myself to game the rest. *sigh*

Awakening surely had potential but it feels rushed and half-as$ed to me. I think they were bound to release it ASAP due to EA

Yeah, I might try that w/ my mage.  I think I'm going to try this escape senario w/ Alistair vs letting him save me since that doesn't sound all that special.  Plus I like having Alistair always w/ me.  Perhaps I'll do both if I'm very motivated.

The dialogue you get when you wake up in the cell is cute.  About Anora, or seeing the prisons of Ferelden as a Grey Warden, etc.

And having him with you prevents the game from putting you in "the position" with the guy in the cell next door.  Which my game always does.

"I swear,  Alistair my love, it was nothing!  It was the game engine that made me kneel there!"

*snort* This reminds me of a dialogue option you get as a Dwarf Commoner. You get a chance to literally bash the jailor's head against the cell bars. It felt GLORIOUS! \\(*U*)/

Awakening had it's ups and downs.  Honestly I think the game was too short to introduce so many new characters.  If they'd brought back some of the Origins companions with a few of the new ones it would of been more than a enough.  It also would of made Awakenings jive better for everyone who wasn't a mistress or Queen of Alistair's.

Beyond the dialogue system though, I actually liked Awakening.  Though I think w/o reading TC there's not enough information given to the PC to make an informed decision about the Architect.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on that. ;)

Huh? I'm looking at it in the toolset. That's his unhardened line if you agree with Riordan ("I didn't want to be king. I still don't. But... if that's what it takes to see Loghain get justice, then I'll do it. I'll take the crown."). So no, he doesn't want to be king but will do it to get justice against Loghain.

Hardened he is supposed to say  (according to the toolset) "I see I need to take matters into my own hands. I demand justice, and that means I take the throne. I will be king."

Now, I had him hardened in my spare loghain ending...and got the first. So, it's not so much Alistair still not wanting to be king, it's yet another landsmeet screwup I guess.

Either way, it seems he does it because he feels there's no other way to get the justice he seeks. Thought I do love this line..

Anora: He's being childish. How many generals do you think Ferelden has? We can't afford to lose any of them to Alistair's tantrums if we want to survive the Blight.

Alistair: Oh, but we could afford to lose a king? And the entire army that was abandoned at Ostagar? Whose tantrums cost us all that, I wonder?:D

Well, I know there is dialogue in the Toolset for exploration fo Whilhem's house in Redcliff and as far as I'm aware there's no way to access that normally in the game.  Instead it looks like they took that part and just added it as the Decades Old Letter you find in Whilhelm's cellar in Honoleath.

Someone else was mentioning something about scripting of the Landsmeet that it wasn't always set to be the last step of the game.  I'm not sure how to access that in the Toolset myself but I haven't really looked.

I know I'm having trouble staying with the game at this point. I have a couple characters to get through the final battle, one more to finish the treaties, and I /might/ make a new warrior Dalish. But once I finish, and do Awakening...I doubt I'll play through again. Which is sad, Awakening was so danged short, with so little extras, it's just not enough to make me want to se it all again. And if there is to be nothing between now and 02-2011...blah. I wish they'd at least HINT at things to come between now and then.

This made me laugh so hard. Imagine if the Landsmeet broke Alistair's ability to manipulate via expression! How would he ever get anything from anyone if he can't:

Maybe they'll release some DLC but the DLCs are usually very short too.  I hope DA2 regardless if it's w/ these wardens or not is as long and
awesome as Origins is.

I might end up playing WOW again but I need a new guild and possibly a different server.  I still need to play Mass Effect 1 & 2 too but I'm having trouble getting into it since I'm not big on space games.

I know what you mean. I've played through Awakening once...and never touched it ever since. I rather fire up a new character in DA:O than to go through Awakening again. The companions there have half the appeal of the origin ones...and not only because of the lack of Alistair. I miss my merry band of lunatics in Awakening xD ...it's just not the same.

Though I plan to do the queen playthrough there still, since my other PC saw nothing of Alistair at Vigil's keep *sadface* Well only if Leandra ever ends the game, that's it.

I found the Queen play through pretty satisfying.  If you pick the right dialogue options while talking to Alistair it brings a decent amount of closure as to why he can't be there fighting at your side.  It's a pity they totally left out Warden Alistair.  I mean they put a Loghain cameo in *gag*

I just started playing WoW again, and it's children's week...so sorry Alistair, I need pets, you'll have to wait a bit...lol I'm half afraid if MY wardens aren't involved in DA2 I won't bother. I put too much time and effort into just making them look the way I wanted, plus all the relationships, and time spent putting just the right equipment together...I have zero desire to start all over and leave them to rust.  I did like how Awakening handled that at least, giving you both options.

I have developed the annoying habit of not playing to the end but to start over instead.
I have abandoned three Couslands at the Landsmeet before my fourth Cousland finally saw the end of the Origins.
Now she's abandoned halfway through Awakening for Cousland five. <_<

And I have no idea what ending I'm going to import. I really liked the Loghain redeemer import. It had a special (very sad) feel about it. But I'm interested in the Mistress ending, too. Decisions, decisions. And in the end she will probably be replaced by Cousland six ... or something stupid like that.
Not to mention the other PCs waiting for attention (two mages, a dalish, two dwarfs).

Here you go
EDIT: that's the rest of the scene:

In all seriousness, I actually cried on that scene. Most powerful scene in the entire trilogy imo.
And Boromir was the most "human" character, in otherwords the best.

Agreed.  I always cry in that scene.  Damn good movies Cmessaz you really need to watch all three.

Seriously I would need therapy. I am a big baby. When Alistair dumped me on my first playthrough I was depressed for like a week.

So, I've played through to at least the Landsmeet as a DNF, DEF, HNF (3 times) and now I'm working on a HMF.  I have to say so far it seems like HNF and HMF get the most unique dialogue options.  What do you guys think?

The DNF origin is actually my favorite out of all of them.  I found returning to Orzammar lack luster though.  Too many people treated me no different than if I had been an elf or human.  I guess siding w/ Bhelen yields a bit more dialogue but I couldn't bring myself to do that.

On my Dalish all the elf hate kind of had me disinterested after a point.  I ended up using a lot of the "oh, you want something from me too... shocking." type dialogue responses.

I have a BE mage w/ the reins from Sarth 10m 3d.  I'll kind of kick myself in the ass if I start playing again since I quit before Xmas last yr and that's the only event I needed for the seasonal proto.  I used to collect WOW pets too.

To me I am. I'm not saying I won't try it eventually, but It will REALLY have to prove itself. I'm not a very varied gamer, I don't pick up and play new games very often. If I find a game I like I stick with it until I'm completely done with it. Dragon Age captured me because of the attachment to my characters, and their companions. If their story gets to continue, I'll be ecstatic, if it doesn't...well I won't be in a big rush to buy, until I see something on the boards that impresses me. I don't think it'll be an issue really. Both games ended with our adventures being "far from over".

Yup, one of many WTF moments there for me. It really infuried me to play as a Warden as if my fellow warden and love never existed. No one mentions Alistair, no I'm the last Warden. Yeah right. I mean the epilogue has a D'aww moment and is pretty satifiying concerning the happy life and freedom both then enjoy ....but in the game it is a total lackluster. I even would have been satified with a letter from him like

"I'm on my way to you from Highever, love. Might take a while, though. First I need to find my pants AND dog again. You know this happens when I lead. Have fun slaying darkspawn like you used to. Can't wait to see you again. With love, Alistair"

Or something like that. One frikkin letter wouldn't have been so hard to get into the game and Bioware had much less whining to hear in the forum  I mean they have done it with ME 2, where your LI was absent too but you'd gotten a message from them a la "I'll be waiting", so I don't understand the utterly ignorance with all the LI in awakening.

Okay...I keep telling me that it's just an Add-on and no sequel...but still. Meh. >.<

But I will try out the queen playthrough soon, as soon I feel motivated enough to pull up with Awakening again. Currently I'm rather not, that is.
