Yes. Clearly my HNF is *very* well read, and Alistair and I have an excellent teacher/student relationship.

Actually we really haven't, it's still on Alistair so to speak
I keep waiting for a guy to come on and see the talk and making some kind of remark about women, like that 1 earlier lmao.

There it is...hope this copies...

You will have to scroll down a bit and wade through some Alistair hate but this has to the the most scathingly funny defense of the NPC I have ever read.
Damn I don't know if that worked or not so I copy/pasted his post here...
Tell you what.
Next time we put in a male lead, we will make sure to make him the manliest and most stoic creature you could possibly imagine. Just for you. He will be so manly he will suck the body hair right off of John Wayne and make Chuck Norris weep with envy. He will never show a single emotion, not even at his grandmother's funeral, and will never utter a single complaint about your actions... he will simply reach out of the game, slap you across the face and then take over the party.
The rest of the party won't mind, and neither will you... because he will be that awesome. Deep down inside you will resent him, and resent the fact that every NPC in every town the party enters falls in love with him and not with you. But that part of you also knows he deserves that love. Even needs it.
I am certain there is not a single fault that you or anyone could find with such a character.

Have you ever read game informer's opinion of Alistair? They wrote an apology note saying that they guess all you have to do is act like a stupid weiner to get girls. Alistair was made the way he is because of the life he led. The truth is he WAS an heir to the throne, and everyone just made him think the way he does so that he wouldn't be a threat. If you actually think about things, and read the codex you get in Ostagar (the letters Arl Eamon wrote to Cailen) I don't particularly care for Eamon and think that he really DOES want Alistair on the throne for his own personal gain. Alistair is a damn well written character. The fade thing when he dissappears is the only part that actually really annoys me about him.
*facepalms* I guess they really just don't get it.
I despise Eamon after several playthroughs I hate him more and more. He immediately goes into "politician" mode and angles to get Alistair on the throne. Granted it is to save Alistair's life but its also to put someone Eamon thinks he can better control than Anora on the throne. Cailan I took to also be a bit intractable (I have no proof but I think the one who crumpled that one missive from Eamon was Cailan himself in anger).
Unfortunately when I see Eamon and Loghain fussing in Denerim before you go deal with Howe I just keep thinking "Pot, meet Kettle"
One of the reasons I adore Teagan so much is he is the ONLY adult Guerrin who seems be genuinely happy Alistair is alive, not for what he can get from the boy but his expression is just pure pleasure than Al survived Ostagar...but I adore Teagan I might be prejudiced

@sylvanaerie: So I guess you wouldn't be a fan of my Eamon one-shot, eh? I like the guy, oddly enough.

The best thing about fanfic is that I got to rewrite that scene and it explains why Alistair said that. I had to do SOMETHING to give a reason why he would babble like that. -.-

LOL Nope I hate him almost as much as I hate Loghain. But neither of them comes even close to Howe, though Tim Curry is awesome

As for his comment about Anora, again this is his royalist tendency coming out. But he is not wrong. He saw how in the rebellion, it was the Calenhad legend that drew the country together and inspired them. His family lost a lot, just as Loghain's did. He does not want to see that legacy be wasted.

I had to figure it out on my own, I have some programming experience. However, it is possible to read all possible dialogue options without having the ability to edit anything, which will prevent anything happening that would mess the game up. You actually have to check out the resource to edit anything. I can tell you how to view it if you have the toolset. It is very easy. Reading through has opened up new conversations with companions. I have fixed some of the bugs so in MY game they work, but I have no idea how to fix it for other people.sylvanaerie wrote...
Man I so got to figure out how to use this toolset thing everyone talks about ...
<----computer moron here...
is it something I can open up in the game (I use the PC Version) or is it something I download from the site here?
Download here, it takes a bit to install. Let it do it's thing and then you can pm me if you want and I'll walk you to the dialogue. If you feel comfortable with it, I can tell you how to fix a few minor issues with Alistair's conversations that aren't showing up properly in game. I am working on some of the bigger issues that I have found, I just wish I knew how to get it into a DAzip or something for others to use.
I bet there are a few of us who'd like to know how that works. Maybe you could post a bit of a toolset walkthrough in one of the threads? If you have time, of course....
