WTF happened, Lady Jess? I have never had any problems with Dog in IA.

Were you using a mod to change his appearance before you installed it? I was, and IA broked it...lol

There must be a conflicting file somewhere in IA. Get the exact file name from the mod you want to keep, then do a windows search in the override folder to find the conflicting file with the same name, and delete it. If not, then I have no idea.

Thats what I've been doing all morning, there don't seem to BE any with the same name.

I bet TMP could answer it in their vastly superior modding knowledge.  hint hint

Seriously though, the only difference I could see between Lady Jess's mod and the one I'm using is her's lacks a gen00fl_dog.utc file if that matters.

AW in medium armor spec'd for melee dps > Alistair spec'd for tanking

That's because the concept of a tank is, IMO, kind of dumb.  Just kill stuff and you don't need a tank.

What do we tempt TMP with? I know KoP just needs Morrigan:devil:

It is impossible for me to avoid Alistair. I must at least start it and break up for kingly reasons.

And IA doesn't have that file either. I posted on the IA page, meanwhile I'm still digging.

As a rogue I found him being spec'd to tank very useful.  As an AW not so much.  I honestly don't understand how he died so fast.  I have him in massive armor w/ Spellward and using Shield Wall.  He shouldn't of loldied to archers...

Oh Tanking is great if you set it up right. Work on constitution as much as strength. The idea is for him to take a beating while the DPS comes from behind, S and S is as much for defense as for offense. Most people worry more about his strength, but his (and my tanks) constitution is equal to their strength. He can take some serious damage. (or is it off-DPS? I can't ever remember)

I wonder if IA is doing that, cause it happens to me a lot. I got to the point where I just stay put at the beginning of the bridge till all the little bombs or whatever have gone off.

An all-DPS party is better IMO.  In Awakening I don't even take a warrior with me generally, since I've got my rogue or mage plus Anders, Nathaniel and Sigrun.  If there's nothing left standing, there's no need to have a tank.

Yeah, usually my Alistair is a wall.  Part of the problem is I'm not using any modded armor so, he's only in T3 massive/shield.  I might make him DW and just try tanking myself.  The only problem is having no real taunt to pull mobs back off of the healer if they get that far.  I'm using Crushing Prison and Winter's Grasp for that but they have decent cool downs.

I don't have IA installed in my game, if that helps. This is the first time it's happened to me.

Depends on how you play. I think more than 2 up front is a crowd.  So I always have 2 in back (healer/damaging mage or healer/archer) and Iet Alistair charge in to collect agro then come in from behind for a backstab as a rogue or just come from behind as a warrior.

I play Backstab/Stealth rogues so, having to tank is ineffectual.  Especially in Awakening where rogues can easily get 400+ backstabs even on Nightmare.

Tanking is more fun than I thought it would be. I finally did it before my unfortunate incident, with Alistair at DPS with a 2h weapon. (SEXY BACKTURN DEATHBLOW!) That was one of my most fun playthroughs yet.

Ugh, my Aedan started out his life as a tank and I had to kill him and reincarnate him as a rogue at something like level 12 or 13.  The idea of going through the Deep Roads that way made me want to gouge my eyes out.

But yeah, it's a gameplay thing.  I just prefer rogues, and Alistair will never do anything but DW again.
