Tanking is more fun than I thought it would be. I finally did it before my unfortunate incident, with Alistair at DPS with a 2h weapon. (SEXY BACKTURN DEATHBLOW!) That was one of my most fun playthroughs yet.Serissia wrote...

Oh Tanking is great if you set it up right. Work on contitution as much as strength. The idea is for him to take a beating while the DPS comes from behind, S and S is as much for defense as for offense. Most people worry more about his strength, but his (and my tanks) constitution is equal to their strength. He can take some serious damage.
Yeah, usually my Alistair is a wall. Part of the problem is I'm not using any modded armor so, he's only in T3 massive/shield. I might make him DW and just try tanking myself. The only problem is having no real taunt to pull mobs back off of the healer if they get that far. I'm using Crushing Prison and Winter's Grasp for that but they have decent cool downs.
The elf I just finished Origins with is set up for both dw and tanking. So when I get bored with one, I can switch to the orher,

An all-DPS party is better IMO. In Awakening I don't even take a warrior with me generally, since I've got my rogue or mage plus Anders, Nathaniel and Sigrun. If there's nothing left standing, there's no need to have a tank.cmessaz wrote...

I spec my rogues Duelist/Assassin they can tank all on their own. I have yet to figure out how to make Alistair charge in first...and dangit in places like Jarvias with doors, his AI should have an option to go open them.

Setting his behavior to 'Aggressive' works most of the time for me. Sometimes he just stands around looking pretty though and I have to point at the thing I want dead.
Occasionally, he also gets us in trouble (or dead) if I forget to set it back to default on something that requires a bit more finesse.

I kite him if he charges my mage...Dot and run around in circles...let the fighters pick at him till he drops. The screaming is for intimidation purposes...yes...yes it is...

I don't think so but something the quality of the armor is high and I have to keep a low quailty for my game or else I will freeze up
and I would love the links <3
I love the blood mage armor but my mage isn't a blood mage...

That seems to only work well if they're fairly close. If I want to keep my ranged way down a hall I usually will just take him over for a sec.
I'm going to see if I can solo Flemeth on Nightmare on my AW now.
