I generally prefer gold and silver armor for Alistair, which is part of the reason he is so damn hot in Awakening.  He does look good in Cailan's armor, but b/c Alistair has a darker skin tone than Calian, I think mainly silver suits him better.  A real 'knight in shining armor' as it were.  The WC stays on Lya b/c I think it compliments her coloring better.  Non-warrior chars do put Alistair in WC armor, though.

I'm total crap at armoring my characters and I don't love the massive armors (except for WC and the armor from Kal'hirol). Alistair usually just gets material upgrades in his splintmail (trading in Wade's armor when appropriate) until I do WK and RTO right before the Landsmeet. I put him in Cailan's armor if he's not going to duel at the Landsmeet, for impact, and usually he goes back into the splintmail for the rest of the game (or the WK armor for the stamina bonus). Like I said before, my strategy is "kill them fast enough and you don't have to worry about how well protected you are".

My PC wears scale or Wade's Dragonskin pretty much the entire game, and even into Awakening. Until I discovered the armor in Kal'hirol, I never found a set of massive armor that I thought looked good on her.

My boyfriend uses Alistair as a tank and sticks him in the Legion of the Dean armor. I do like that look on him.

Yeah, I play on easy, so I don't worry too much about stats and stuff. Looks are my main priority. I am very much a girl in that regard. XD Alistair stays in Cailan's armor once I do RtO, and he always wears it to the Landsmeet b/c he's always made king in my games and it's a nice message to send.



OOC, how do you do material upgrades? Just loot that you find, merchants, or is there a way to upgrade? I find my issue is that I can never find matching sets up different teirs of armor.

Again, I wish the shoulders were different (I honestly don't know why I love him in splintmail, but dislike the look in anything else.  Just sentiment?) but how good does his coloring look with this?

Very good post. Especially this part is exactly what I think about Loghain. And I always have a feeling if you have Loghain killed at the Landsmeet you've already made one little step down the road Loghain went. Maric made some steps down that road, too.

Actually its something that I strongly encourage. Loghain committed atrocious crimes not only at Ostagar, but against Ferelden as well. By starting the civil war which in turn resulted in settlements burnt, nobles hanged, and torture and the selling of elves to happen. I dont think there is an argument that he could not united Ferelden, considering half of Ferelden didnt even accept his regency.

In turn, I let Alistair have his vengeance, but I also feel justice has been done for all of Ferelden. Loghain had to pay for crimes and he did. Executing him at the Landsmeet in front of his daughter may not of had been necessary, but it had to be done.

Executing him?  Perhaps.  I can see the arguments on both sides and I have had characters go both ways.  Executing him in that way just give you a reputation as a vengeful brute.  Such a reputation has its uses in that political climate, but I can't imagine that Alistair won't regret the way in which it happened at a later date.  Justice is a good thing, vengeance is a scary path for a leader to take.

Vengeance can bring a person down to do bad things. But i dont really see this as a vengeance that would actually bring down Alistair. He not only wants to execute Loghain for leaving Duncan out there, but for EVERYTHING else he has done.

As a noble, I wouldnt not see him as a vengeful brute. I would see him as a king that enforces justice out to those who have done wrong. Alistair wont regret what he has done, he knows Loghain deserves it. It's one of those things with him I believe when it happens, he will then begin to move on. I dont see what else you would do with Loghain. Honestly, execution really is the only option with him I believe. Plus if you were to spare him I think, you would look more like an idiot to the nobles who just accepted a criminal into there order rather than having the future king enforce justice on him.

Alistair was not swayed from his convictions and his decision to execute Loghain was the sign of determined and just leader.

You can sell stuff to Bodahn and it should level up with you, but it's erratic. I also have a mod that allows unique items to upgrade so I can still have the Family Sword be viable late in the game, or not worry about getting Varathorn's breastplate too early. Depending on drops for matching sets would drive my crazy. As it is, there is always that pretty dire period of the game where my PC is in silverite and Alistair is in red steel splintmail with veridium boots or some such nonsense.

I hate how scale looks on men in general, and I don't know why that is exactly.

Edit:  As I side not, running through this cutscene again, I noticed I didn't have the option to ask Alistair why he couldn't sleep and get the amusing rats/cheese comment.  Is this b/c I have ejoslin's dialogue fix or have I done something else wonky?  Anyone else encounter this or have any thoughts?

Yes, I think this is his sexiest pose in the game by far, I just want to tear his armor off with my teeth:wub:. I also wish we had the option to 'sleep' together in the bed he's leaning up against. I am sick of camp love making. I wish someone would make a mod allowing us to 'bed' Alistair in a proper beds when we're in any of the Castles.

That is my favorite line he says in Awakening, though. "You're so independent. It breaks my heart" is a close second.
