My post disappeared. WTF.

I don't ever harden him if he is not going to be king. And I only harden him about half the time if my pc will marry him. Obviously I harden him in the rare instances of me being his mistress. But he can be sweeter unhardened with the appropriate choices in dialogue.

I talked about this a bit yesterday, but Gaider writes Alistair, Zevran, Morrigan and Shale.  Also Nathaniel and Anders.

Those are the ones I know offhand and someone correct me if I'm wrong.  The wiki sometimes has who the writer is, and some of their comments on characterization which are funny.  Like what dessert each character is etc.  I recall someone saying that Alistair was "strawberries and cream."

And like I said upthread, I'm a sucker for a Gaider character.

It's not a canon/non-canon thing.  It's just how the nicknames sound.  Though I wonder if having Zevran say "Zev" is what makes it okay in my brain.

I accidently hardened him, he's not complaining about being king...I thought that was kinda sad, but minus that he's hot when hardened

I hardened him after Landsmeet cause he is SO annoying if he isn't hardened (IMO) I like hardened Alistair better than Unhardened. It never gets more driven home to me JUST how different he is if you don't than at the Landsmeet.
It has more to do with helping him see he CAN be a good leader and strong and he doesn't have to be a doormat for people to like him.  (Doormat may be a bit strong but it seems like unhardened everyone just walks all over him, hardened he stands up for himself more).

And when hardened he will FIGHT for what you have.

Is Morrigan's romance rly worth playing through as a guy? I mean, I don't hate her but I'm not a member of her fan club either. I've kept her w/ me through my mages play through thus far and she's been amusing.

that too.  I hate Eamon I REALLY really do...more and more each playthrough.  In many ways hes had as sh*tty a childhood as Zevran because Eamon really almost destroyed the boy.

I enjoyed it.  Not just the romance itself I guess, but the idea of playing a male PC romancing her.  Has some very knight in shining armor moments.  I mean, what compares to slaying a dragon on behalf of your beloved?

Her romance lines are some of the bawdiest, but there is also a sweet vulnerability and tragedy to it, so it's a fun mix.

Of course, you know how it's gonna end.

No, regular sword.  And yes, it looks like the Korcari Wilds, but where exactly would this scene/expression take place?

No I don't see it that way. Hardened Alistair really doesn't mind that his "true love" is approaching him with an idea to marry another woman. Unhardened is "flaberghasted". If he isn't going to be king, he is better unhardened imo. As a HNF, I am there to help him. Telling him to stop being a nice guy isn't good for me. I hate it in fact. (please excuse me if I spell flaberghasted wrong)

edit: took those out of the toolset. Hardened he is "Neutral, but doesn't really approve"

Well, in Anders' words, he is fluent in sarcasm. 

Although Oghren gets some great lines, too.  I love his "glowing nimbus" speech when you pick him up before heading into the Deep Roads.
