I get the AU thing, so maybe you will win. But...poor Alistair! He's leading the Wardens, therefore they fail? That doesn't say much about his leadserhip qualities and ability to make a good king.

It's a darkspawn hack n slash dlc. As it's an WHAT IF story it has zero impact on any story or progression. Whats the point then? I want stuff that expand the main story and add to it, not some senseless nonsense like this.

I agree wholeheartedly. However, there is a large market of people who just want additional hack and slash, so this will appease them. It won't appease us, but someone out there will be happy at least *coughcoughmy husbandcough*

Oh, crap! Really? This, plus Awakening, makes me wonder if they actually understand why people liked Origins so much. I'm...gobsmacked. Seriously.AnniLau wrote...

They announced the DLC. I don't think I want to play as a Darkspawn.
What, what???You now fight as the Darkspawn! The city of Denerim, jewel of Ferelden, girds itself for war. As a hurlock vanguard, you alone hold the power to make thralls of your fellow darkspawn and drive them into the heat of battle. Heed the archdemon's call--Denerim must burn!

I just wish they would expand on the actual game. Warden's keep was awsome, RTO and the Stone prisoner were cool, why not add more to the game like that? Why do they keep creating these stupid things that don't add much to the actual game?
Well, I suppose that teaches me to get excited about DLC announcments.

The Darkspawn Chronicles costs 400 BioWare or Microsoft points and will
be available on May 18 for the PC and Xbox 360 and on the Playstation 3
with date to be announced shortly.
If the PC is a darkspawn commander, then most certainly the Wardens will lose, b/c the type of person who would play that will not abide their fearsome master of evil losing the game.AnniLau wrote...

Hey guys, long time no post...
But I had to jump in on news of this DLC. You play as a darkspawn, for reals? Um, dude, you're going to lose. Otherwise that's a really crappy story....lol
It's an alternate universe and Alistair is commanding, so the Darkspawn might win.
Need for Speed, and so on. Yeah I am not a huge fan of EA...... But even those at least added somewhat to the game. They weren't great by any means, but they weren't off the wall like this is.Count Viceroy wrote...

Neither of those were "real" dlc as it were though. They were both main features cut from the game and given away/sold as DLC as a marketing ploy, EA's been doing this with all their titles as of late. ME 2, Bad company 2, DA.
If this is the way they are going with concerning DLC, then I'm quite worried...

Looking at the description, it does seem the whole point is to play and command darkspawn, so I doubt I'll bother. I mean, party interaction is why I play this game. How much party interaction is there going to be between genlocks?
Judging from Gaider's comments on the thread where people were discussing the new dialogue system in Awakening, they understand why hardcore DA:O players (as in, we who are still haunting this forum months after release) like the game, but we're not the only or even the main audience they're trying to draw. A hack and slash is probably an attempt to draw that other sort of player.errant_knight wrote...

I guess storylines and game builds are being chosen based entirely on how little they have to use expensive actors. I'm certain that was the thinking behind the new conversation method in Awakening--limiting interaction. Pretty much the opposite of why I liked Origins and what I want from DLC. I have no desire to buy this at all, at all, at all.
On the positive side, this can't be the DLC that Leliana appears in, unless they just recorded lines of them being killed by darkspawn.

It could be, if Leliana is among the Wardens getting slaughtered.errant_knight wrote...

Maybe this will give us the opportunity we need to really understand the darkspawn, to get over our Warden biases. The Architect couldn't do it, what with jumping straight to experimentation/imprisonment/dragon-dome, but if they went with a squad of snarky little genlocks (all voiced by Patton Oswalt) I could excited about my new darkspawn family.

I may do the same, but if there is a Swamp witch/Alistair romance involved I won't, cause it's gross.
