We shall see. I would love it if it ended as just some horrific dream my character was having. And then Alistair gets to comfort me. That might make it better.

And I don't like to see Alistair ending up being a failure because the other warden wasn't there either.

Don't do it! You'll only encourage the type who cackles at the thought of Alistair fangirls going crazy over something. Sad to say, I think some of those are on the dev team.LadyDamodred wrote...

Oh god. *makes quiet keening sounds* And I thought merely letting him be led off for execution was bad. ( ;_
Because it's obvious that if Alistair was in charge, the Wardens would lose.
Pfeh. I've never been this disinterested about something with Dragon Age on it. I mean, if you're the type of person who likes hack n' slash MMO's, wouldn't you want new content, setting and characters, rather than something recycled and half-assed?

I wonder if this is a new team or something, same with Awakening. It's just got a totally different feel. I wonder whats up with this. Why do they refuse to add to our stories?Skadi_the_Evil_Elf wrote...
Uhhh...this new DLC is pretty lame. Adds nothing to the overall story or play experience, just a rather lame-brained stand alone mod. Why would I want to play as some generic darkspawn, really? There's no real role-lay value there, just pure hack n slash.
Really, Bioware must have taken a massive hit in the good ideas department.

Yup. My elf was all like "this is crazy, i won't be a part of that" when the duel was brought up initially and so she said as much. Eamon then tries to appeal to you pointing out you have little choice, really, and if you still refuse then Alistair steps in on his own.Lady Jess wrote...

Have you ever tried disagreeing to the terms of the duel? I kept doing that until Alistair finally took over, saying it had to be done and he was volunteering for it. SPOILSPORT!
You can do that??

And on another note, I don't even have an interest in killing Morrigan as a darkspawn and I don't like her. So it's not just an Alistair thing, this is a stupid idea and I am very disappointed at their "big news"

Maybe DA2 is going to be based on these same characters and the developers are leery of committing to any storylines that could conflict?

I don't hold it against anyone who can have fun at something like that. I mean, it's 5 bucks and it's entertainment, so have at it. It just holds zero interest for me. What upsets me is that I don't like what it could bode for the future of the franchise. Since RtO, the trend has been towards cheap, half-assed storytelling, little to no voice acting and party interaction, etc. If I yell about this, it's because I want Bioware to hear loud and clear that they need to start paying writers and voice actors or I'm not going to buy.Axekix wrote...

I'm not upset...just a bit startled by this bizarre event by Bioware, kinda wish they would do some DLC's based off the six months before Awakenings or Recaliming Highever...

It's a peculiar decision. The biggest complaints about DLC have been about a lack of effect the story/relationships, or the limited nature of interaction as a whole. ie RtO. Then the biggest complaint about Awakening was (again) limited character interaction, and a lack of returning characters. So what's their solution? To bring the characters back, have no interaction, and kill them. Uh...dudes. DLC: You're doing it wrong.Skadi_the_Evil_Elf wrote...

I think the problem is that they created a model for the next generation of games, in terms of storytelling, but they just don't have the funding or time to follow that up properly, or repeat it. Origins may actually have been all we'll get.

Exactly. Well, sort of. While I thought the scope and detail of The Stone Prisoner was the best, it was a little over the top for me. Shale seems oddly commical and 'unrealistic' compared to the other characters. Soldier's peak gave with one hand, and took away with the other, It was a good story, but had absolutely nothing to do with our characters or the main storyline. While RtO was clearly rushed, small in comparison, weirdly easy, had limited voice acting, and was badly tied to the main story, at least it was about our characters, and had a real effect on them. To me that made it the best one, although it had significant problems. I agree with the last line 100%, though.

I'm being Alistair here, Addai. I'm taking the hit so the rest of you don't have to. Plus, I like to be able to judge things first hand. So I will shell out $5, give it a whirl and let you lovely people know how it is.

I don't know! A lot of the elven men in the game are... I hate to say it... kind of ugly. I'm trying to think of one that I thought was really appealing and I'm coming up bupkus. Soris was probably the closest.Serissia wrote...

Yeah I can see what you mean. But to be fair, I don't know how feasable it would be for them to add small content updates like this with hte same quality as the original DAO. Smaller budgets and shorter timetables, etc.Addai67 wrote...

Awakenings was the only DLC I've felt disatisfied with tbh (probably because it actually cost me more than DAO itself...), and the Leliana patch could fix that!
Edit: Top of the page?! Erm, I don't have any Alistair pics... but you can have this one of my PC going "wtf?"
