Yeah, I got that with Zevran. I just assumed they didn't know if any of them besides Morrigan and Alistair would return in future games. Those two are pretty much guarenteed I think, even exiled Alistair mentions where he's seen.

Well, if you choose to travel or go back to wherever you came from and Alistair isn't king he also goes with you... for a time xD It seems choosing to stay with the Wardens is the best outcome no matter if you're queen or whoever your LI is. Probably done on purpose too :P

That makes sense I guess. The "for a time" likely is referring to your warden duty interrupting anyhow.  So if there's a canon at all, it would appear to be you returning to the wardens.

They're the exact same scenes.

And I don't think Alistair is
hooking up with Leliana.  There are rumors of there somehow being an
Alistair/Morrigan romance and that's what has everyone upset.  Not even
sure how the rumors got started.  I think it's a big stretch from them
both being present in the last battle to hooking up in some fashion.

Nah, I don't see a full blown romance between Alistair and Morrigan, but like KoP posted, Morrigan's presence in the final battle is a strong indication that he did agree to the DR without a female Warden's influence. If Morrigan refuses to stay for her friend/lover without the DR, then why would she stay to help Alistair?  Also, I don't think that the DLC would show an Alistair/Leliana hookup, but I noticed some stuff in Origins that leads me to believe it could be something we see in a book narrative of the "male Cousland canon" story.  I only mentioned it as an indirect way of saying, "I doubt he'd romance Morrigan, because in the absence of a female Warden, I think Leliana would be closer to his type."

As for the DR scenes, the PC choreography may be the same, but on my first PS3 playthrough he was unhardened and the corners of his mouth were exaggeratingly downturned.  He looked like he was about to cry, actually.  Then I saw another poster on Gamespot mention her disgust at his "smirk" during the DR sequence and I was thinking, "Smirk?  She's on crack...I didn't see anything even close to a smirk on that man's face."  So I tried a hardened playthrough and noticed that, yeah, he definitely didn't look quite so...*miserable* about the situation.  I haven't gotten that far in the PC version to know his expression or to compare it to what I remember from my PS3 playthroughs, though.

I will say that I've noticed enough differences in the versions to accept that Edge of Reality may have modified the scene somewhat.  Example: One definite cutscene change includes Alistair's reaction if you choose
to spare Zevran.  On PS3, the camera distance is greater and he's standing at an angle.  No sudden head snap towards the Warden when he hears him/her accept Zevran's offer.  The PC version is a closeup frontal and his arms are crossed as he's staring down at Zevran, then his head snaps towards the Warden when he can't believe what he's hearing.  Another minor difference: on a PS3 fresh load, Leliana, Alistair, and Wynne's profile shots will have grumpy expressions until you open a dialogue with them.  Even if you select "Never mind." the profile expressions will change to smiles because you've talked to them.  The PC version doesn't do that.  *shrug*

***EDIT*** Had to fix some funky formatting problems.

Yup, it seems only exiled/executed/US Alistair and US Warden can escape the clutches of Warden duty xD

Hm, I never noticed that. I went through the PS3 version twice but I've barely been able to bring myself to watch the PC/Alistair scene more than once, much less the Alistair/Morrigan scene. I may be somewhat of a prude, haha. But that's such a weird change to make, really. I wonder what the reasons behind the Awakening characters looking so different to the PC versions are too.

Oh, I always enjoy talking to that guy.  I like the herky-jerky way he talks and his cute little tantrums.  His VA is good, quite different when he's doing Slim Couldry.

THAT'S where I have heard Slim before.  It was driving me CRAZY thank you!!

I agree with you on Alistair and Morrigan, basically she bullies and deprecates him throughout the game.  Being compelled to perform a sexual act with someone who consistently undervalues you is never going to be a pleasant experience whatever the genders of those involved.  In fact, it's just further degradation. As to the differences you've picked up between the reactions of unhardened and hardened Alistair to the DR these would be consistent, in that hardened Al is likely to be more capable of putting a better face on in a disagreeable situation than unhardened Al.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea that Alistair did the Dark Ritual with Morrigan. I know I shouldn't, as there's most likely no reasonable backstory and the only reason why she is there is to please the Morrigan fans (or the Morrigan haters).

Why would Alistair resort to blood magic, a magical sex rite with an apostate he hates, sire a child (a thought he despises as it caused him endless suffering) in order to save his own life? I just don't get it. Because he's King and really really wants to rule, or what? :pinched:

No, no, I should stop thinking about the DLC. It really is just pointless hack and slay, maybe fun for some but still storywise nonsense, even with AU tacked on it. ^_^

See, that's the problem with this DLC. Even if the focus is the darkspawn the player is still going to be thinking infinitely more about the characters they care about and are familiar with. Who cares about the darkspawn? They're mindless. You've killed thousands of them without batting an eyelash. So we're not really going to give a damn about them when the characters you actually care about are being killed and potentially acting in OOC ways.

The only justification I could imagine is that, because the situation is so utterly dire without the PC, he would do the ritual in the off chance that it meant the Archdemon could be slain even if he or Riordan bite it during the battle.

My only justification is that I was wandering about and they crossed paths.  No halla humping intended.  I was thinking more along the lines that if I was an elf lady, I would so love to wander into the woods and find NBA living among the forest critters.  A kind of Tarzan thing, I suppose.  I'd probably shoot him in the butt cheek with an arrow first, elven reflexes and all that.
