Oh hey, did you know that our Alistair fangirlyness is based on the fact that he's childish and brings out our maternal instincts? I just learned this today.

Yes, I knew that.  As it is, men are children and need us to sponge the drool from their chins.  And isn't it obvious straight out of the Korcari Wilds that Alistair wouldn't know how to wipe his ass without your epically epic PC and the other brave companions to show him the way?

As a point of curiosity, where did you read this profound morsel?

That Costin_Razvan guy seems to be a fun guy to talk with. If you like to bash your head onto your desk after every post of him, that's it.

'Sweetie that person is a rude ignorant arrogant pollywog.  He seems to take special joy in derailing threads and pissing people off.

Okay. Got it.

Well everyone needs a hobby right? Just saying.

I wish I knew enough about meshes to make an earring mod. I would LOVE if all my characters could have earrings. It's possible to take a face mesh and put facial jewelry on it that way. I don't know how though. I went to college for graphic design so, my knowledge of 3D modeling/meshes is pretty limited.

Yeah, it will be.  It uses uh_hed_fdb4a_0d as the second face texture and then once they're blended it will make for a younger look.

That's from FDB Skins, you'll need that if you don't have it.

Everyone in the origin has tattoos, do they actually say you're an apprentice?

You're constantly referred to as da'len in the origin story, which translates to "child", so I assumed the PC was still an apprentice by then? Also the fact that Tamlen doesn't have a tattoo, same with Cammen and Gheyna.

EDIT: Aii, scratch that. Tamlen does have a tattoo. xD

I wish I knew more about modding myself.  I want to learn but I also know it takes patience n that's not particularly my strong point, heck I got flustered with the toolset n trying to make my own PC lol.
One of these time's when I can pull myself away from DA n I have some time I might try n look more into the toolset.  Until then I'll keep going to DANexus lmao

I freely admit that the older look is part of the appeal for me.  But I'm a creaky and wizened thirtysomething, so there you go!

The way I see it (if I'm to get philosophical), slight changes like that emphasize different parts of Alistair's personality.  The boyband hair is his boyishness and casualness (LOL as I recall Shale saying "next we can talk about your personal hygiene"), while an older look is his firmness, the bits of romantic suave he manages by accident, and the kingly qualities.

LOL Im a cranky and wizened almost 50 but thats why I find an appeal in some of the older men in the game.  I could kick myself for not taking advantage of nabbing the bearded older Alistair someone posted in the threads too far back for me to find now.  Any chance anyone has that guy just hanging around on thier harddrive or can point me to where he was posted on the projects boards?  I may like to nab some screenies myself.

SurelyForth, did you keep the little dialogue you wrote up about "what Alistair would do" with the Architect?  It was awesome.  All I remember is Alistair saying "just go kill that talking darkspawn... thing."

This?

PC: This is a whole lot of business you're throwing at me, Mr. Architect. My gut tells me to kill you, because you are a darkspawn and I am a Grey Warden. But you could possibly end the Blights? Hmm, if only Alistair were here...

Dream Alistair: He's a darkspawn. Kill him.
PC: But the Blights?
Dream Alistair: His experiments have already caused new kinds of problems, and what if he can't end the Blights? Then we have the Blights and these new problems. And whatever this Mother is...she sounds like bad news. Also his fault.
PC: Right.
Dream Alistair: He also knocked you out, experimented on you and, inexplicably, made you fight dragons for his own amusement.
PC: That was weird. If it weren't for Ser Pounce-a-lot, we'd all be dead.
Dream Alistair: Ser Pounce-a-lot? Do I even want to know? Just...kill the smart, powerful darkspawn. It shouldn't be that hard for the Hero of Ferelden. And then come home. Being king is hard.

You know SurelyForth, you have totally ruined my fanfic  project.  I was all set to write this story of how Alistair my PC meet up with Leliana in Orlais while on Grey Warden business.  Leli was thinking about writing an epic poem but she realized that she didn't really know enough about her protagonist (you never have an opportunity to talk about your past IG).  So I was going to recount the story to her.  However, I started to read your posts and realized that I just didn't have your flair with the companion dialogue.  Sigh.

@Jess- Hmm... yeah, that could be true. It's just that Lanaya mentions at some point that a Dalish elf is still considered da'len, a child, until they succeed in their hunt. And seeing as how Cammen doesn't sport a tattoo, well, it just got me thinking. xD I'm probably looking too much into it.

yea thats the one.  And we were all speculating that that might be how he would look in his early forties. (maric's age).  He had lines and everything making him look about that old looked like Maricstair except he was older with a beard.

Are we know at the part of admitting our age? Cuz I'm game xD I'm almost 28 at my part. In over two weeks I wave my 27 goodbye, that it.

I nearly got a heart attack as I opened my FF right now and two written sites of yesterday were missing O__O The doofus that I tend to be, I have luckily saved it elsewhere *phew*

So on with the writing now *stern look*

Yeah, but you start off as a hunter already. You're out hunting with Tamlen when everything starts. And the people that call you Da'len are really old, so I see it as more like Wynne or Duncan using the term child. And all the wiki says is all members of the tribe have tattoos of their chosen gods.

An admission of age huh? I'm 28 but I feel a lot older. I've had the type of life that could fill one of those tragic day time special meant to scare children into submission. Enough woe is me though. Let there be much Alistair.

@Meril- Somehow I get the feeling I'm the youngest on here. The last time I felt this way was eight years ago, during my early ventures into Internetland. 8D But erm, yes. I'm 20, if anyone's curious.

@Tori- I love Aimo's work as well! There's that natural, flowy, genuine vibe to her art that I really admire--it's hard to describe. And I feel honored hearing you say that; I saw you link an art piece I made some pages back. x3 I'm looking forward to making more lovely art for you lovely people. Provided laziness doesn't get me first hurr~

@Jess- Were you out hunting or scouting? Hmm, I guess it works either way. I want a tattoo on my Dalish, dammit! xD I just wanted to make sure I was consistent with the lore.
