I thought I had changed things up enough that they wouldn't be too similar, but the shots are still pretty close. And I'm not happy with my other PCs at the moment. I'm sort of waiting to see what serissia does before creating anything new.yukidama wrote...

Yukidama, our elves look strangely identicle.
They could be sisters! Hahahaha.
They're just long lost alternate universe twins
She also started out with the Morrigan hairstyle too.

I can't play a HNF and not marry Alistair. My current playthrough I am marrying him after breaking it off for the king reasons. It does change things up a bit.Lady Jess wrote...

I see. Well, in an interview that's linked in General, Gaider talks about how rushed he was to write both of the novels. You can see it in TST more, I think, especially where he has to basically hand-wave the whole middle part where Rowan and Loghain are running around the countryside together.yukidama wrote...
I dunno, the Katriel descriptions bother me because they remind me of some of the crappiest of fanfics (back when I used to read fic). The overabundant descriptions of how beautiful and whatever Katriel is (and not only from Maric's POV) just remind me of Mary Sue fic lol.
But, if he stops writing descriptions like that, he might also stop writing such tender, heart-wrenching love stories. So... shhh. LOL

I don't like what I am hearing for DA2. Everything is speculation at this point, of course. I still am undecided about whether I want them to continue our warden or just start something new. Part of me thinks that continuing or PC has the potential to be a disasterous story.

Just about story continuity. Everyone wants different things it seems. As for the testosterone, I think they are just happy to hack and slash, so they should go play Mortal Kombat, or Resident evil or something and leave us alone.Addai67 wrote...

You mean in the conversation after YOU initiate the tent, and he confesses his feelings? Yeah, I can't make myself say "but you're going to be king" because I'm a noble, and know it doesn't matter for her. I can do that on a mage, or an elf but not a human noble.

I don't know - Fiona never suffered from that problem, I don't think, and the honey-colored curls were still present in TC. And the end of TC is waaaaay more heart-wrenching, to me, than anything in TST.
I suspect that Katriel was intended to be something of a Mary Sue character, at least in Maric's eyes and maybe even Rowan's. Maric idolized her, Rowan wanted to be in her place, and Loghain, well, Loghain was Loghain. I find that there's a pretty amazing lack of description for some of the characters - it took me an hour to find out what color Rowan's eyes were (gray) and I still haven't found a spot that specifically mentions Maric's eye color in the books, at least.
Most description seems fairly vague - Dunan is dark-haired, dark eyed, as is Fiona, Rowan is also described as "dark-eyed" in most spots and Loghain as "pale-eyed". But only Katriel has honey-colored curls and green, green eyes. It doesn't seem to be a "problem" specifically of Gaider's writing, but maybe more deliberate.
Or I could just be full of it.

Well, I'm just glad the game doesn't require descriptions :x I love his characters and the dialogue is great, but sometimes he gets a bit... caught up describing things. Then again, I can definitely understand that writing is no easy process.

You have to ignore speculation. It's worse than gossip and spins out of control too much. Even when we do it in this thread, it's slanted towards what we want to see, just as whoever is speculating anything else is slanting it toward what they want to see. I do want the option to continue my wardens though. Hopefully they'll set it up like awakenings so you have the choice. I figure if I can find my own continuity in Awakening, I can do it again.

This is what I meant, that she is intentionally shown as an idealization. But you're right that that is not only in Maric's eyes, also Rowan's.Sandtigress wrote...

Some writers do intentionally leave out physical descriptors. Try finding a description of Ender in any of Orson Scott Card's books. You have to infer that Ender is blond from something his sister says, at least from what I have read of those (which is the first few books).I find that there's a pretty amazing lack of description for some of the characters - it took me an hour to find out what color Rowan's eyes were (gray) and I still haven't found a spot that specifically mentions Maric's eye color in the books, at least.

Actually, Loghain's eyes are described as cold steel blue and unsettling.

Oh, I know that's there, but when I was skimming his eyes tended to be described simply as pale - he didn't continually bring it back to "cold steel blue" the way he does with Katriel's green, green eyes.
Same thing with Maric's - I never found his actual eye color, but that doesn't mean it's not written somewhere. It's just not repeated so often that it was easy for me to find.

@cmessaz, my character (also Dalish mage) used to have that hairstyle (and a different tattoo). I ~handwaved~ her tattoo change, lol.

I remembered reading a "honeyed curls" line in The Calling, although it wasn't mentioned as frequently. Just one or two lines, I think.Sandtigress wrote...

I mean to say that the honeyed curls weren't about Fiona - her descriptions were few and far between and seemed to mostly involve her clothes.
