I saw my brother go through most of Morrigan's romance. I think it is mostly my reluctance to play a male character that makes me not want to do it, but also that I'm not up for a tragic ending when I have a chance to avoid it :[

Randomly, Alistair went back to being S&S because I finally downloaded the Bulwark of the True King and I couldn't pass up on giving him grandma's shield. :crying:

No, I have not, though I have read about it sufficiently to get an idea. I can not imagine it being superior to the Morrigan romance in any way. Of course I am talking about the romance in general. Whether Morrigan is a better character than Alistair (duh) is another thing.

I'd have to concur. Just imagine pretend that you're romancing Nathaniel instead of Morrigan, melting that sexy, icy exterior of his to win him over body and soul, only to have him part with you in the end because of a greater purpose he must complete. How do you not want to go after the man? Everyone wants the Morrigan issue addressed so badly that I wouldn't be surprised if they dealt with Morrigan in a sequel while everyone else is conveniently disposed of. =p

That was my only problem with it. But my HNM married the ice queen, so it's all good. As a male, I think I would be more into the Morrigan type girl, not the "girlie bad a**" type like Lel. Plus the eyelash comment really creeps me out. I don't want to be all "oh don't worry I'll protect you" Morrigan looks out for herself. But that is just me.

KoP, I should have a lot of Morrigan screenshots for you here soon. I'm playing a HNM n he's more inclined to be interested in Morrigan then my females lol. But I'm not sure though with the comment my Coulsand said to Fergus about not wanting to be tied down lmao.

He's a player but he doesn't want to be involved. And then Fergus had to make the comment just wait till the right woman comes along lol.

Well, yeah. There's no way that if I do finally get through a male character he'd romance anyone other than Morrigan. It's just actually playing that male character that's the problem. Though I might be more inclined now that I can use the killallhostiles script... >:D

Having done the Alistair romance (pre-landsmeet) I can't say I really understand his romantic appeal.  I mean I get the fact that women appreciate that he's so open, but he's SO painfully self-conscious I find it gets a little annoying having to reasure him in every conversation.

His "swooping" kiss and his proposition at camp are the only times he seems to take any initiative on anything really (part of that being game mechanics I know, but even compared to the other romances, Alistair seems far more passive imo).  But I'm not a woman, so... *shrug*.

Maybe the fact that he is so manipulatable is part of the allure?

"Manipulatable" is maybe a strong word. Perhaps "malleable". I personally think that could be one aspect of his appeal.
I think it's mostly his innocence and openess.

But yes, if I was a girl, I would not go for a guy like him. Perhaps maybe when I am in high school, but afterwards? Nope. Someone like Natahniel Howe on the otherhand, a mature and strong, sexy voiced...eherm...someone like Nathaniel, now that is a guy I would go for if I was a girl.

Again, I think this comes down to the fact that you aren't a girl, so can't understand the way we think. And everyone is different. I think as woman, we understand Alistair and the life he's led.

Funny, because if I were a man I would go for Morrigan over Leliana. At least we can agree on that.

I suppose.  I can see the interest in Nate.  And I definitely get the Teagan love, cause that guy is a badass.

How Alistair managed to inspire such a fandom is a mystery to me though...

Nate is doable, and so is Anders. If I was a man, I'd like Sigrun, but that would be about it. Valena is out.

The only reason I romance the eyelash stealer as a HNM is because she can help me get past the horrible woman that is Anora Posted Image. Because it is a physical impossibility for me to be a noble and not become consort.

Gonna go out on a limb and say in this thread, people are gonna like Alistair's romance above all others. And since the guys don't get it, let me try to explain as best I can.

I don't see Alistair as "manipulatable" or "malleable". You cannot really change his character, except for the hardening, which is really just him getting the confidence to follow what he really feels inside. I am a very strong-willed person, and I can't have a relationship with someone that just rolls over. And there is a difference between easy-going, agreeable and having a lot in common and being a doormat. Alistair is the former, not the latter.

I think what gets most girls is that he is so very earnest. He's relatable, honest and really loves the PC and wants to make her happy. He wears his heart in his sleeve, as your companions will tell you. Something like that goes a long, long way with women.

Edit:  As for Zevran, I have him pegged for three relationships:  DEF, CEF and CEM.  All are very different relationships rp-wise.  And there is something I find extra touching with the CEM.  If I rp out like I've planned, and like the lil ficlet I wrote using that character, it's going to be an US game and it will break my heart.  :(

Well, for me at least, I have no interest in such things IRL so I can't really tell you if it is because I prefer to date people like Alistair. In reality, I prefer romancing Alistair in the game because I like his character the best. Most of my favorite characters tend to be the idealistic, honest, sweet-yet-snarky types. So Alistair is right up my alley as far as favorites go. I like his romance storyline because he is sweet and not super aggressive when pursuing the PC, not despite it.

Zevran's romance really is very deep and engaging.  I couldn't personally do a m/m game, but I enjoyed it very much on my female characters.

Well if I did a Zev romance it would have to be with a fem pc (no M/M for me thx).  But on my fem chars I find it almost impossible to get out of the Leliana hair convo without flirting with her... she's just so adorable there:wub:

Lel's ninja love sabatoged my first 2 of attempts at getting my Alistair unlock too, haha.

Heh, well I don't have this problem.  I reaallly don't have this problem.  LOL

That's unfair.
A lot of girls hate the guy who keeps talking about himself and love the listener (my gf happens to be like that). Many prefer a "mysterious" kind of guy, which is not what Alsitair is at all.
Many others like mature men. I do not see Alistair being mature, at least not prior hardening.

You girls are not so unknown to us men as you think you know. Soemtimes you can be very predictable lol
