I just have the feeling that Eamon is a big time royalist. The Theirin line is what united Ferelden in the first place, and its what united Ferelden against the Orlesian occupation. So he is just very determined to make sure Alistair gains the throne to continue the Theirin bloodline, which I believe in other peoples eyes it looks like he is grabbing for power. If he was REALLY power hungry, he would've not even mention Alistair at all and just make a run for the throne himself due to his popularity I think.

True... but if he was really grabbing for power, putting Alistair on the throne would definitely make it more subtle. So that would be the wisest course of action. But ah, I'm probably thinking too poorly of the guy. Like you said, he could really just be a hardcore royalist.

Like he said, it would make him LOOK power hungry, no better than Loghain. "Eamon would have a heart attack" line in Awakening is what gets me.

And thanks for keeping the love alive!!!Image IPB

I've yet to see that scene play out for myself, but I will soon enough. And hurr, you be welcome~ <3 More to come, hopefully.

Gilsa, seriously how did you make such a good looking dwarf? I sure can't do it.

I honestly think it comes from how excited you are to play a character. I love dwarves. I had no problem just sitting at the character creator just playing with the sliders. I don't really dig elves in general so I made 2,875 elves before I found one I was OK with investing what 40 hours on in the game, heh. My dwarves tend to have a strong jaw (I usually widen it because it's OK for them to have a rounder face since it fits their body shape), a button nose, and thick eyebrows (Brooke Shield style, not the bushy one, heh). The rest are just details depending on your mood.

I don't like my queen Cousland. I couldn't click with her in the character creator so I downloaded the custom hair from don'tworrybehairy and now I feel like I've made her into a heavily made-up Barbie doll. That's OK. I mainly made her to check out the Cousland origin and see how it all comes together. It was quite a change from the dwarf origins. I now understand posters better because it really does seem like the whole game revolves around the Couslands.

Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what I said to get that from Alistair in Awakening. It has something to do with helping you fight darkspawn. Thats gonna drive me nuts now. I also very much dislike lady Isolde. Her and Anora need to be hung upside down and beaten with a wet noodle.

I agree with the game revolving around the Couslands. Especially Awakening. Did you create the character in the toolset? Or just the default char gen. If you did it in the toolset then I want your morph. Image IPB

No, I made her from the first preset dwarf, but I did take screenshots of my sliders before hitting the submit button so when I get back on my main computer, I will dig those up. (Using the laptop so the kid can play his video games on mine.) Only mods I have are the eyecolors and haircolors so you can just ignore those sliders since they'd be in different positions than normal.

Oh I have over 70 mods on mine, including the eye and hair colors. I usually use the toolset, you can create better tattoos and what not in there, and you have more control of your face. But I just have not created a decent dwarf. It would be great if you could get me the sliders, the only ones that would be different might be the hair and color, but I can manage those. Also, how the heck are you guys posting screenshots? I want to express some Alistair love, but it isn't working Image IPB

Ehh. I dont think Eamon would have a 'heart attack' because he would lose his power if Alistair would die, but that if Alistair died there would really be a catfight over the throne.

I dont know what makes people assume Eamon is this bad guy. As I said, he is just a bigtime royalist, and that is why he is such an adamant supporter for Alistair. He would prefer to see Alistair on the throne, but he isnt so power hungry that if Anora were to get the throne he would rebel.

Plus I do believe Eamon has a fondness for Alistair. Even though Alistair didnt sleep in the silk sheets and all that, Eamon put back together his mother's amulet, and Alistair said Eamon bought him toys in Denerim. I think Eamon sent him off to the Chantry due to his wife. Eamon did come and visit him, which he didnt have to do at all, but the reason he stopped visiting was because of the way Alistair was acting.

The problem is this: If I am queen, I am concerned about the letters that I found between Eamon and Cailen telling Cailen to sleep around on Anora. So Eamon would have a heart attack if the king assisted in helping fight the darkspawn, well Alistair IS king, so screw what Eamon says. No woman wants her significant other to be directed by a father figure in everything he does. Plus, Anora says that Cailen wouldn't have minded Alistair being at court. It was Eamon who kept him locked away. I didn't say I hate Eamon, but as I've played through and read I am very suspicious of him. Plus he can't count! I won the last landsmeet, damn it, only two people voted against me and Eamon declared war and I had a sodding fight on my hands. WTH Eamon! We won 3-2. I just don't get it.

I dont think Alistair would listen to him anyways, considering he is hardened and married you. Plus I dont think Eamon brought up the subject after like 3-5 years, where he was probably like "Soooo....how is the babymaking coming along?"

That's just it,  Alistair's not hardened.  I did this playthrough completely different.  I didn't have him with me when I did the Redcliff quest so I had no clue that he was the heir to the throne until Eamon woke up from his coma.  And for the first time ever I asked for the serve the crown boon, which I've never done

I actually found it more fun playing it this way then I did the other.  Probably because doing it this way I had no idea what the outcome would be and so far it turned out quit well.

But I can understand you I guess. It's something you two will have to face soon, because I saw somewhere here on the forums where David Gaider said that it was impossible for two grey wardens to produce a child. So Alistair is going to have to bore a child through another noble lady or something.

Ya David Gaider said that it would be impossible for 2 Grey Wardens to produce a child the natural way.   But come on with all the magic out there someone's got to have come up with something to help these 2 to have a kid between them some how lmao.  Hey let my female Cousland Queen dream dang it lmao.

Unhardened Alistair is sweeter, escpecially if you try to arange the marriage between him and Anora. I don't care what anyone's defense for Eamon is, I do not approve of his actions. Look how insecure Alistair is. He was made this way so that he would not be bold enough to be a threat. I understand the Theirin bloodline and all that, but c'mon. Everyone is soooo concerned about the heir thing, but I seem to remember if you make Anora the sole ruler, she refuses to marry. So looks like there is no heir either way. It makes for a good war set up for later games.  PLEASE someone educate me on how to post a screenshot!

Would these be the lines your referring too?

Alistair:  And how about you, dear wife?  You weren't badly hurt, I see?

PC: Planning on joining me, dear husband?

Alistair:  Oh, I wish.  Don't even tempt me like that, you minx.  Eamon will have a heart attack.

I love that line Image IPB

Did Anora support you or throw you under the bus?  I have heard her vote counts as three.  So when my Cousland girl won the landsmeet 5-2 she actually TIED though it didn't seem like she had.  And Eamon said something like "This bodes ill" Loghain called for our execution and a fantastic riot broke out with everyone on opposite sides of the battle between Loghain and my PC.  Funnest Landsmeet I think I ever did.  Much more fun if you DON'T let Anora support you cause you can call her a ruthless b*tch afterward...Image IPB

Yes ma'am and thanks! The only way I will play Awakening now is with the queen. There is no continuity otherwise. Serously though, why all the Eamon love? Thats what I don't understand. I understand Teagan love, but not Eamon. I'm just mad at him about the landsmeet war thing. The one I really like to roast is Isolde. For some reason she just frosts my a**. Not sure why. Almost hate her worse than Morrigan.

The BEST PART! No if I am to be queen, I pretty much tell Anora to f off. I just wish they had the option to beg Alistair to let you kill her.

I think leaving him unhardened will then never bring out the true person that he can be. Eamon had to force Alistair all of his life that he doesnt have the potential to rule, lead, make decisions and everything. In which there would be no rebellion he would want to raise.

You do him more good by hardening him anyways. He realizes that he can rule, he realizes that he can lead, and he realizes that he can be a good king. When you harden him and try to marry Anora, he expresses his disconcern very strongly for the idea, and does not like the idea of her being on the throne. At all.

Other than that, I honestly dont see any difference in his personality. I dont play females, so I only see it from a friendship point of view. And the only difference I got from hardening him was him wanting to be king, which I liked. I dont know how it is for the ladies though.

lol I mean IN dialogues you actually DO get to call her a ruthless b*tch after the fight and duel. It was so much fun. Then I put Alistair on the throne with my Cousland girl (Avie at left there) and at the end I asked for the title and took Teryna of Gwaren from the b*tch. NOW that was freaking sweet. Killing her would be a mercy...taking EVERY bit of power she has from her AND insulting her...that was win pure vindictive win

Well I think what he says unhardened is sort of a "warning" that if you make him king, he will dump your butt." He is more convincing to not make him king. I think that is what he really wants to begin with. Hardened Alistair just doesn't believe Anora is a good choice to rule Ferelden, and I agree.

Apparently not much different but Alistair certainly doesn't object to making you Teryna in addition to queen. (It was rather sweet too because there are only two Teynirs, Highever and Gwaren which means the Couslands have it pretty much sewn up if you do that.) I guess what Gilsa said is right the game is skewed to the Couslands.

Ahh, I suppose that makes sense from a romantic viewpoint. I kind of just get this "Thank you for making me realize this, you have been a great friend through all of this" message.

I was very pleased he wasn't pist at me when I made him King unhardened, but it helped that I said I'd rule beside him and he was in Love with me. Unhardened Alistair I like as far as his lines go.  They are sweeter and if you harden him you miss out on him saying that he loves you.  Hardened all you get is "have I told you that I love you, well it won't hurt you to hear it again."

Unhardened he comes right out and say's he loves you:
Alistair:  You're a true friend and I... love you.  I just wanted to tell you that.
The way he says that, *sighs* Image IPB

Now if my male pc would of done that, made him King unhardened he would of chewed my but out and i would of lost approval with Alistair lol

Hahaha, oh yeah, I've done that to her before.

"You're kind of a ruthless b*tch."
"I like to think of it has staunch determination, is there a reason for you telling me this?"
"Nope, just thought you should know that."
"I'm happy to know thats what you're thinking of when you're supposed to decide who will lead this nation."

I cant remember the lines to the dot, but I know they are all something like that. Very satisfying to tell her.

I believe he was telling him to put her away, i.e. divorce and remarry.

So Eamon would have a heart attack if the king assisted in helping fight the darkspawn, well Alistair IS king, so screw what Eamon says.

Alistair is always complaining about Eamon pulling him aside for this and that.  I would not take this too seriously.  Besides, the problem is not Alistair fighting, it's that he's needed elsewhere.  Running the kingdom is a big job, hence he's entrusting the darkspawn problem to your PC's capable hands.

Plus, Anora says that Cailen wouldn't have minded Alistair being at court. It was Eamon who kept him locked away.

This might be so, but keep in mind that the only time Anora's lying is when her lips are moving.  She is trying to get you to trust her rather than Eamon.  it behooves her to pull you closer to her corner.

Anora counts for 3 votes.  Eamon doesn't get a vote, I assume because he called the LM.  It's more fun that way anyway.  I roleplayed my mage as being too naive to see through Anora's deceptions, so she told her straight up that she couldn't support her.  Seeing Anora's true colors and Loghain's response to winning the vote is more satisfying than my PC pulling a fast one on Anora, IMO.

Eamon stands by you and opposes Loghain, when if you read The Stolen Throne, you know that most of Ferelden's nobility is craven and self-serving.  I don't think Eamon's a saint- he made a terrible mistake letting Isolde run Alistair into the ground- but the fact that he took Alistair in anyway should earn him some halo points.  His advice to Cailan was harsh, but so is running a kingdom.  An orderly succession is literal survival, especially for a nation as fractious and threatened as Ferelden is.
