i guess female gw's were only put in to keep women from complaining but aren't actually part of any of the origin storylines :{

You want to run around trying to save Ferelden from the Blight with a bun in the oven? Or, given that it takes over a year, a baby strapped to your back? That'd be a fun Archdemon fight. :?

I think they were being practical, not exclusionary.

not quite but in the hn they had  nan take care of them and there are people in each origin that could raise your child while you save the world is all i meant

It would have to be a child you had prior to the Origin start though...it's not like you could take time off from the Blight when your belly got too big.

I dunno, if it were me I'd be glad I didn't have a child. Aside from the impracticality of it all. imagine bringing in a baby when you're faced with a huge task like the one the Warden is. I wouldn't willingly bring a child into the world during a Blight, especially knowing that there's a good chance of me dying or everyone else dying if I fail. Afterward, who knows. But during the Origins timeline? No way.

I don't see why people have a hard time being supportive of a friend/lover who has just had his hopes dashed by offering kind words instead of telling him to suck it up and deal. But another one of my opinions, don't mind me.

Have you tried to arrange the marriage to Anora unhardened?

Yup, did that just now.

Seriously, his lines in the convo about being king are hilarious (mostly). I can't believe I never tried it before xD

Like I say, it's worth not hardening Alistair at least once for the new dialogue.

He has one line that's just heartbreaking...when he asks you why you think he should do this, if you tell him it's important:

"But you're important too.  You're more important to me than anything.  I don't want anyone else, not even for pretend."

QUICK! I need a name for my human female mage. I'm fresh out of ideas.

I found the name Emmeline for a future character in a fic.  You could use that if you'd like. I think it's rather pretty.

That is pretty! If you don't mind, I think I'll use it. Or a variation of it anyway.

Again, late, I know, but I lost power.

What about something like Evangeline?  My HFM was named Shayelyn, Shaye for short.

I don't like the line the game uses to harden him - even if it just said "Some people..." that'd be an improvement - but I do think Alistair is a happier, more well-rounded person when hardened.

Why is everyone else so good at naming characters. But I already created her. Any ideas on my future DNF would be appreciated, however.

I don't agree with that, if I am going to leave him as a warden, then he is always unhardened for me. He really WANTS to remain a warden with you , and doesn't seem unhappy at all to me. Unless you make him king that is.

also i thought it should be mentioned that if you play as a male warden you get to have a child it's only the females that get jipped out on the heir/child thing

anyone else think thats unfair ?

Eh, from what I hear the whole childbirth thing isn't a ton of fun.

Come to think of it, poor Morrigan has to do it alone... with no one to support or look after her.  No doctors to ease the pain, no one to even hold her hand.

...

:crying:

Male Warden's don't get to have a child/heir either. They get to have a marginally human something that they never see.

Yeah ;-; It's why I said mostly. I can go through with making him solo king but I can never keep a playthrough where I marry him off to Anora because of that conversation :(

Edit fail!

Edit:  shedevil:  Anya is my ****y CEF.  The thought of a dwarf with that name is hilarious to me.

I'm not saying he's unhappy in either situation, just that unhardened Alistair doesn't always seem willing to stand up for himself when he should - the Loghain issue being a notable exception - and, if he were a real person, that would eventually leave him feeling pretty put upon. He needs to know that it's OK to put himself first sometimes and I don't think the unhardened version realizes that fact.

Indeed, and it's brutal if you happen to really get invested in the story.  *siiiiiiigh*
