The boon is wasted if you crown Harrowmont because he will turn them away. Bhelen welcomes them and they actually do make a dent in pushing the line back.Sandtigress wrote...

Oh, another random question. Do dwarves receive anything special as boon to the PC? The Dalish can ask for a land for their people (though they get this regardless), the mages can ask for some freedom from the Chantry, the human noble can ask for justice from Howe...I haven't finished a dwarf run through yet.
Troops to assist Orzammar in reclaiming Tiags.
Thanks!

I really want to just crown my Aeducan and tell to go hump a bronto. :-P Mhardin would make a good king!

I might try to do a Warden ending on my next Dalish character.
What I really need to do that is a mod that makes Anora less... like Anora.
My husband tries to explain the virtues of having his PC married to Anora, but if I liked my mCousland even a little bit, I'd rather he get his head cut off by Loghain.

I imagine this becomes much easier, or at least more compelling if you play a dwarf character...

I got my DNF as far as Orzammar (and that's where she got stuck, too). I decided she would support Bhelen, because it was about larger things than just herself and because she was not going to be the one to end House Aeducan's reign.

Yeah, I never feel comfortable choosing a king for the dwarves. It's like stopping by a stranger's house and finding them in the middle of a bitter separation. Then you're asked to choose which one of them gets to keep the kids when all you were there for was a cup of sugar. All the information you have to go by is hearsay but you REALLY need that sugar so your hand is pretty much forced into a decision. So you make your choice and just hope for the best.
That's a perfect analogy! I imagine my Dalish was just terribly confused. Her people don't do politics, not much, and she first has to learn all about Ferelden politcis with this whole "Eamon wants Alistair to be king" nonsense and now the dwarves are making her pick their new king and all she wants to do is go kick some archdemon butt!

I should really finish some other play throughs before starting a new character. My DNF got deleted b/c I had her being evil to Alistair to see lines before I got the toolset. I figure I should start fresh, rehabilitate her. XD

Yeah, the decision was that much more difficult fot my Dalish character because she already felt so out of place trying to make a similar decision for Ferelden even though she had a personal connection to that. Coming from a background where politics doesn't play a role, she was just confused by the whole thing and came to grow resentful and have a huge distaste at how underhanded and deceitful she found the whole political world to be. She felt infinitely more out of sorts because up until that point she had only encountered surfacer dwarves, knew nothing about dwarven culture and all she had to go by were the opinions of people who had vested interests in either party. My nobles knew more or less how this stuff goes and my mage just did not care and went with whoever's lackey she had spoken to first.

i meant conversation wise is he much different on our decions and the loghain thing lol
Just a few conversations to show the differences between hardened and unhardened. Unhardened Alistair just lies down and let life push him around while hardened Alistair becomes assertive and is more willing to put his foot down. I don't know that I love the harden/unharden system. I don't understand why only Al and Leliana have to be molded while Morrigan and Zevran are left alone. Zevran comes across more of a man because he is what he is, but we are the ones that have to basically hold Alistair's hand and shape his future. I sort of wish they just left in hardened Alistair from start to end.
Setting up engagement with Al and Anora:
Hardened Alistair:
Al: "She wants to be queen. I get it. I don't trust her any more than her father, but I get it."
PC: "What do you think about her?"
Al: "They say that Anora is smart, determined... she's supposedly the one who's really ruled here, not Cailan. She's her father's daughter."
Al: "Me, I say that's where the problem lies. People like her and her father always think they're the only ones who can fix things. So everyone should just stay out of their way."
Al: "What do you think? When the Landsmeet comes, you might even have a say."
PC: "I think you'll make a fine king."
Al: "You say that now. Just wait. I'm full of surprises."
Non-hardened Alistair:
"Did anyone mention this wasn't
my idea? I think she's a great queen. As far as I'm concerned, she's
welcome to it."
PC: "I think you'd be a
great king, Alistair."
Al: "Really? What ever would give you that idea?"
PC: "You have a
kind heart and a strong sense of justice."
Al: "What do you think I should do? Go ahead and be king? Just let it happen?"
PC: "You should do what you want to do."
Al: "Hmm. I suppose I could always flip a coin. Got one handy?"
Al: "It's just that everything I've heard about Queen Anora is that she's the one who really ruled here, not Cailan."
Al: "She's smart, tough, determined... while I feel a bit like Cailan's substitute. I think I'd be better off against the darkspawn."
Al:""All right, Alistair, enough whining!" "Thank you, Alistair, that's excellent advice. I'll do my best!""
--------------
PC spares Loghain at Landsmeet:
Hardened: "I see I need to take matters into my own hands. I demand justice, and that means I take the throne. I will be king."
Unhardened: "I didn't want to be king. I still don't. But... if that's what it takes to see Loghain get justice, then I'll do it. I'll take the crown."
If PC gives Anora the crown anyway:
Hardened: "You're supporting Anora. You dare! After everything we've struggled to achieve!"
Unhardened: "You're siding with her? How could you do this to me? You of all people?"
--------------
Post-cornonation ceremony comments when Loghain spared and Alistair engaged to Anora:
Hardened:
Al: "I'll make the best of it, I guess. I'm not going to roll over and let Anora rule, that's for sure."
Al: "Well. Good luck, I suppose. You have a lot to do, now... and so do I."
Not hardened:
Al: "Only I never wanted any of it. But now I have no choice, really."
Al: "I'd better go. There's a thousand people I'm supposed to meet. Good luck."

Thanks for posting those conversations. I find that I respect Alistair more hardened, and that makes me like him more. I actually like to see the backbone emerge in the sweet guy. To me that has its own romantic appeal.
