After reading the Gamespot review of Darkspawn Chronicles... I want to play it even less than before, somehow. Sigh. This is such an assbackwards DLC, why do they waste resources on this rather than fixing their game and giving players fun and interesting DLC? If I wanted a combat based experience I could play Generic Fantasy Game #289438942834 which probably has better combat anyway....

I probably missed this somehwere, but where did you read it?

I actually like Isabela. She's captain of a ship and a pirate. I even liked her looks the first time my PC met her (now she's modded she looks more natural, did you know that the colour of her skin is typical for Rivaini?) and funny, I like her voice even though it's the same voice actor as Anora.

Yeah, I didn't realize she had the same voice as Anora until, like, a month ago. I knew that she and Bella share a VA, which explains the transference of affection.

I think I must have known this unconsciously even before I realized it.  The way she says "sweet thing" makes me want to hit her.  It's all becoming clear to me now.  LOL

I think nuns swoon over Olivia Wilde. She's unfairly gorgeous and I think it's the law that she has to be bisexual on every television show she appears on.

I don't know who this person is.  I love paintings and depictions of women and can appreciate the female form aesthetically, but it's vanity more than anything.  Women are just interesting to look at.

Men are interesting to look at on a whole 'nother level.

Case in point... Posted Image

I like the Deep Roads, too, but not all in one go. I have to spread it out over a few trips. I usually do the Orzammar stuff near the beginning, just until I get Oghren and then return for the Anvil of the Void a few allies later.

This is what I do, as well.  For one thing, if you always leave Orzammar to last, you miss Oghren's Fade dream and Gauntlet stuff and his other little comments.

Yeah, that's the same interview that was posted shortly after the DLC was announced.  I'm probably going to get it so, if anyone wants to wait for a player recommendation/review I'll do one afterward.  I'm bored enough to play it.

While we're complaining about design decisions, I really wish that staves and greatswords sat diagonally across the back, or were shorter, to avoid clipping. It irks me to be following my mage and watch her angles get clipped every step she takes. It's even worse with a warrior. I tried 2H but I was getting skeeved at the repeated sight of blade through the leg.

I think tmp has a mod that makes weapon sizes smaller.  Edit:  Rescaled Swords and Daggers.  Not sure if this would fix the problem you're talking about, though.

That one just gives the longswords and daggers more realistic size compared to the crazy oversized DA defaults. The greatswords will still clip and resizing them would be rather miffy since in order to fix the issue they'd have to be cut down by quite a bit... better approach would probably be to edit the weapon attach point so it rotates the weapon a bit, but that's lot of menial work.

Doesn't change anything for me. It's extremely short, no roleplaying at all, just combat and a codex full of entries about what Alistair would decide without the help of a Warde. Don't know if the AU canon will make sense  (as in I'm still not sure his choices will make sense without an explanation) ... it doesn't even matter, Alistair and all the others die anyway.

I know now how Zevran dies and I so don't want to see it.

The one I linked is a review, it has a bit more info that makes me go <_<. It just sems pointless, I hope they have something actually good (or even just linked to the story) up their sleeves.

This is a waste of resources. FIX MY GAME. I have no urge to read about the likely Alistair/Morrigan romance, that you KNOW took place.Posted Image Posted ImagePosted Image  Nor the choices poor broken Alistair would have made without our God/person PC.

Ha, it figures that Bioware would link a different interview than the one they said they would link....Like I said, I didn't click it for spoilers.

I'm interested enough to give it a go - for five bucks I'm okay with that.  I can't guarantee I'll finish it - I really don't know if I can bring myself to kill Alistair, but I woulnd't mind seeing some things from the darkspawn perspective.

Besides, mindless hack and slash isn't necessarily a bad thing when you're in the middle of paper-preparation/thesis-writing/defense-prep, right?  Might be good to just go around and kill things!

I'm hoping this too....some sort of surprise or tidbit of info that adds additional insight.  That would be nice, and knowing Bioware, it's not unlikely.  But I won't get my hopes up.  I'll still buy it, but not expect much.

I was talking to Kolgrim during the Ashes quest, and took the blood. Alistair was say "Bad idea! you remember what happened the last time you drank blood? only worse"

Ah, that explains why I've never seen it.  Thanks!
I'm not at home, so someone else is going to have to post a top of the page pic for me. (This is me, remember, so clothes on, please. ;)
Edit: never mind--not the top of the page.... It was, though. Weird....)

I'm sure they do. In fact, if it is actually the minority that want this type, then Bioware is being smart. Let's face it, there are people (my husband is one...gah it killed me watching him finish Origins AND awakenings in 1 days each) that like just the combat and could care less about the story/relationships. Bioware of course wants to keep these players between larger content releases, and they are the ones most at risk of moving away. appease them first. Keep them interested.

THEN move on to the masses of people that aren't actually going anywhere, that are still playing the original game, because they DO love the story, and the relationships, and revel in the cheers and praise and of course profits.

This is a great oppurtunity for the players to let their voices be heard. And I don't mean here on the boards or letters. I mean if this isn't something you're at all interested in, do not buy it. At all. Ever. If and when something releases we want, it will definitely show in the sales, just as it should when it's something we don't. They've pretty much said that's what they're experimenting for.

I totally agree! Yeah, I got the shield, it's pretty cool. But she's going dual, I just love dual wielding. She'll go S&S for awakening though. Hey, maybe you can help me. I talked to the noble hunters in my Origin, and they said something about Gorims armor showing he was single? I didn't understand it and it's bothering me. I made sure to read new codex entries as I went but there wasn't one for that.

Girl still needs her rp before I get out of Ostagar. So far she's bossy and taking over. Orzimmar is so going to be her first treaty, I think I can handle it easier having not seen it from this angle. I think she'll go for Alistair...or maybe Zev maybe both, in a love stinks i'm just out for fun kind of way at first.. Does Gorim get any impact with a love interest in the party?

1. That was the only time I had seen any indication of martial status in Orzammar. I do not know anything more than what the VO notes say.

Teli: "Is this your paramour? He wears both his vambraces... unmarried and eligible!" (VO: Speaker has noticed that the person accompanying the player character is male and eligible. Speaker is looking for a noble lover, and thinks this person might be suitable. She should sound hopeful and girlish, and flirty.)

2. Nobody in the party will acknowledge that Gorim is your lover. You can however get into a romance with anyone and when you see Gorim again, you can follow a conversation tree that lets you tell him that you're in love with so-and-so. (If you're with Alistair, he will chuckle because of course, royalty is dating royalty.) He will be happy for you and tell you he found a good woman, too.

Another item I've seen in the toolset, but have never tried it out for myself is that apparently you can crown Harrowmont as king and then go to Denerim to see Gorim for the first time and you should be able to tell him that you have avenged both of them as Harrowmont now rules. Gorim should make a comment that maybe Harrowmont will step down and let you take over. I don't know anyone that has seen this in the game though, fyi. (Mostly because we tend to hit Denerim and get that conversation out of the way before we actually pick an Orzammar king. Some gals rush off to Denerim to find Gorim first thing. I RP it this way so he can break up with me first before I go after anyone in my party.)

He knows Alistair is king before he's actually king...lol interesting. I need to find out what vambraces exactly are. I don't kow why that conversation stuck with me, though I wanted to punch her.

I'm definitely going straight to Orzimmar after Lothering. Aidan wants nothing more than to march in those front gates (after a brief stop in Honnleath) and raise hell. Plus I want to have Oghren early for my dwarf. I've never seen his fade sequence. I just don't know if I'll have a romance with her. I think Gorim ruined it for me. I cannot believe the voice that may have ruined Aidan for love is the same one that annoys the crap out of me as Oghren. I am actually hoping to see Oghren differently, I think he'd be less abrasive if I'm playing a dwarf...she'd be used to that gruffness and beligerance. I am going to have to metagame a bit. Harrowmont is getting  the throne,it gets even for Bhelen's treachery and he'd be easy pickins for a paragon Aeducan to replace.

Romance just isn't fitting into what I have so far >.< this is a first.

I expect it to "tug at our heartstrings" the way RtO tickled our funny bones with Wynne's Posted Image interaction with Alistair.

Edit:  Oh, and it pisses me off no end that the marketing line is "a world without a hero," as though the NPCs fighting with you aren't heroes in their own right.  Give me a DLC that lets me kill all the Mary Sues who want to play this DLC, and we can talk.

I don't get how it's supposed to do that either, since apparently you just kill the characters, you don't even get a little cutscene or anything. Why would I be moved by it as opposed to ticked off?

I thought I read that there will be 1 cutscene for Alistair. Maybe I'm wrong?
