The one I linked is a review, it has a bit more info that makes me go <_<. It just sems pointless, I hope they have something actually good (or even just linked to the story) up their sleeves.

Posted Image is exactly my response, too.

I expect it to "tug at our heartstrings" the way RtO tickled our funny bones with Wynne's Posted Image interaction with Alistair.

I didn't have any real problem with the Wynne-Alistair dialogue, but then, I like Wynne. This, on the other hand.... I have difficulty believing that they really though anyone whose heartstrings would be affected would want to play it. On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time that a company made a major blunder in assessing the market. 'New Coke', anyone?

This is a great oppurtunity for the players to let their voices be heard. And I don't mean here on the boards or letters. I mean if this isn't something you're at all interested in, do not buy it. At all. Ever. If and when something releases we want, it will definitely show in the sales, just as it should when it's something we don't. They've pretty much said that's what they're experimenting for.

This was my plan, but like you, I have a husband at home making "I want" noises.  Posted Image

haha mine's not here until July, and e doesn't seem to care anyhow. As far as he's concerned he played it, next! Though, that may be because I was playing beside him going "No!! you can't say THAT!" and "No no you're doing it wrong, take THAT side"...lol

I don't get how it's supposed to do that either, since apparently you just kill the characters, you don't even get a little cutscene or anything. Why would I be moved by it as opposed to ticked off?

I thought I read that there will be 1 cutscene for Alistair. Maybe I'm wrong?

Hm, maybe. There was that one in the trailer of Alistair biting the dust. But for characters like Sten and Zevran it seems you're boned if you want anything more.

Boy, do I ever not want to see that! Alistair's words when his worst nightmare comes true and he fails utterly? *does not want!*

On one hand, I wouldn't want to see a cutscene, but on the other, this DLC would be pointless. Hmm, I'll just stick with the 2nd thought. No thanks.

Maybe they aren't mistaking it.  I can't believe that reality television thrives, and yet there it is.  This is an appeal to the idiocracy.

Emotional impact my ass.  It seems apparent that the real writers are busy with other things so they're letting the bench play.

I hear they actually are. working with Lucas Arts on a Star Wars MMO. Meh, it'll be what it is, I'm not interested, I'm not buying it. We'll see. I have planty of DA:O to finish, so I'm not going anywhere.

Judging by the reaction it seems that most people are buying it not to play as darkspawn and definitely not to be moved by the deaths of their favorite NPCs. Rather, they're doing it so they can get some thrill from killing those they didn't like. Considering what you can do in Origins, it's safe to say that the objects of most ire are going to be Alistair for sure and then Morrigan.

I have no desire to kill either of them, thanks. Especially not as a mindless darkspawn. If I wanted to see them fall at the hands of darkspawn I could just take them into the Deep Roads or the end of the game and let them get owned. Same difference.

I am an admitted Morrigan hater, but even I would not enjoy senselessly killing her as a darkspawn. This just reeks of EA trying to push out crappy content for an extra buck.

That's exaclty what they are doing, and you know what?  It will work.  Although, I would subsitute "cheap" for "crappy".

The point of this DLC is purely action, which is fine.  There are many many people out there who look only for that.  like my husband.  he could care less about story and sidequests.  He just wants to kill stuff, and find good loot.  This type of DLC appeals to him greatly, more so than DLC like Return to Ostagar.  I am the complete opposite, I enjoy the story driven things.

You can't fault Bioware/EA for trying to appeal to both groups.  Hopefully, they'll use all the money they make to develop great sequels and new games.  Bioware really hasn't diappointed in that department.

Which rates another Posted Image.  I suppose you could get tired of one genre and want to branch out to playing with spaceships, but it seems a shame.  And I don't like the idea of MMOs at all.

Well just because they're helping with it doesn't mean we gotta play it. They created Mass Effect too, and I don't play that...lol

If it was just this, I wouldn't be as angry. But imo Awakening was a disappointment. Gameplay was fine, powers and classes are cool for the most part, but ZERO story continuation for everyone but the noble, and even then it wasn't great. Story is an important part of this game, honestly I don't see how people could possibly like it only because of the combat, Oblivion is better for that IMO. But I guess there are those out there. Not many I know. If my husband played this game, maybe he would think the same, I'm not sure. I do fault Bioware for not appealing to BOTH groups. So far recently has only been for the combat only lovers.

If this was a complete game, I'd agree (with sadness), but since it requires Origins  to play agree, some of that market has been weeded out. They're basically looking for that market in a group that purposely bought a game with plot, dialogue, and real opportunities for roleplaying, not a combat game, or a FPS masquerading as an RPG. I don't know what the numbers for this will be, but I'm expecting it to be 50% or more under previous sales if the comments are in any way reflective of the larger market of Origins owners.

I think it would be a mistake to write this off just because it's an MMO. Those aren't my favorite thing, either, but I've seen the videos and it looks pretty amazing--groundbreaking even.

Awakening was an expansion, not a sequel.  It was put out to be a new story, post blight. I know I let myself expect more from it, but I've learned to accept it for what it is. A sequel is a continuation, like in movies. An expansion is more like a spin off in the movie world. It has some of the same characters, and maybe a small reference to the movie that inspired it, but to see the next chapter, you wait for the sequel.

But there is NO reference to anything you did in Origins. Some things even go against our story. For instance- freeing the mages as a boon. Also, why NO explanation for GW Alistair not being there? And not supporting his US? I am ok with the new characters, but not acknowledging ANYTHING from my game in Origins is stupid.

Yup. I've already seen all the "Boo hoo Alistair is a whiny ****" arguments I can take, I don't especially care to hear more of it. Not because I can't handle someone criticizing a character I like, but because so many of the arguments go in circles and a lot of it is based on some arbitrary machismo bullcrap. It's why I stick mostly to this thread anyway.
