Check out the floating tower guard. Sorry dude! I froze him while he was being beaten by the Ogre.
Wha...? How'd you end up with a guard in the tower?

It started out strong but couldn't keep up in the end. Origins had the same problem really though; after the Landsmeet the game takes a turn for the worst as far as bugs. There's a lot of improperly linked dialog. There's furniture that isn't flush aganist the wall in an obviously that's a mistake way.

Awakening was an expansion, not a sequel. It was put out to be a new story, post blight. I know I let myself expect more from it, but I've learned to accept it for what it is. A sequel is a continuation, like in movies. An expansion is more like a spin off in the movie world. It has some of the same characters, and maybe a small reference to the movie that inspired it, but to see the next chapter, you wait for the sequel.
Thanks for typing out exaclty was I was thinking, Lady Jess! I love it when I can be lazy and things get done for me
I know it's going to upset a lot of people, but I really think any sequel to DA will be a whole new game set in the same world. I think of the development and programming nightmare that it would be to take into account all the possible outcomes of the first DA. Mass Effect was always touted as a trilogy, I don't believe DA ever was.
On the other hand, if Bioware can pull of a continuing sequel, than I shall build them a temple and statue, and worship them daily. Because, HOT DAMN! How'd they do that?? You are all welcome to come worship

Apparently Bioware wants to make their idiotic views canon. Because even though this is "alternate history," it will color how Origins' story is seen. The Mary Sue PC becomes canon, too, because of what we see happen when he/she is not there. This is what riles me the most.yukidama wrote...
Yup. I've already seen all the "Boo hoo Alistair is a whiny ****" arguments I can take, I don't especially care to hear more of it. Not because I can't handle someone criticizing a character I like, but because so many of the arguments go in circles and a lot of it is based on some arbitrary machismo bullcrap. It's why I stick mostly to this thread anyway.
Tragedy is all well and good, but if something is to have emotional impact, you have to believe it. With this DLC? Not bloody likely.

Speaking of "machismo bullcrap" as you put it, do you guys know if there's some cut Alistair dialogue for when Sten attacks a fem PC he's romancing? I'm sure this has been brought up before but since I just hit that scene recently it got me thinking.yukidama wrote...

Considering what you can do in Origins, it's safe to say that the objects of most ire are going to be Alistair for sure and then Morrigan.

Yeah, yeah, the PC > Sten, I know. Still, him staying silent while some guy threatens to KILL his girl right in front of him seems so... weak. I even threw the fight once just to see what would happen and nope, Alistair doesn't step in... if you lose, Sten kills you.
I'm hoping there's some missing dialogue in there or something. And before anyone mentions Morrigan being silent for male PCs, that's actually a good thing. It would be kind of embarassing otherwise tbh.

Just take Sten to Haven when you go for the Sacred Ashes. If you haven't done his sword quest yet he'll challenge you for leadership and you can try to persuade, intimidate or fight him.errant_knight wrote...

Eh, I'm prepared to see DA:O as a unique experience and don't expect it to be equaled, let alone by mass-market Star Wars stuff. I don't even like the Star Wars series. George Lucas is good at making interesting creatures, not so good at writing. I've heard interviews where he said that people forget the movies are made for children, but that's hardly an excuse since children's literature can actually be good. I would be more interested in maybe a Robert Heinlein world, if I had to play a spaceship game.errant_knight wrote...
I think it would be a mistake to write this off just because it's an MMO. Those aren't my favorite thing, either, but I've seen the videos and it looks pretty amazing--groundbreaking even.
So, anyone know if a new Oblivion is planned?

There has to be more to it than that, because I've never had his sword quest done then. He gets a bit pissy about the ashes quest, but we chat a bit and he's accepting.Axekix wrote...
