Yea Hardened Al will grab the throne if its not a HNF (or HNM) Warden.  Arranging marriages I think tends to hiccoup that option (such as putting forth Alistair/Anora marriage) though if he kills Loghain Anora won't marry him.  Can't say I blame her for that one.  Everyone has a line they won't cross and Anora won't marry someone who murdered her father.

He grabs it even if you are HNF, that did come as a shock as it was the first time I had hardened him.

Only if he's not in love with your warden.  IF he's in love (not adore, not friendly, but love) with a HNF or engaged to Anora, you will get the choice.

Edit: This is what makes hardening Alistair so pivotal for HNMs, actually.  If a HNM hardens Alistair and wants to marry Anora, it becomes tricky.  It's still doable, but not as nice.

Second edit: I just double checked the code.  The exception for him being in love with a HNF or engaged to Anora is there.  And it does work!

I don't know why they didn't make him propose, maybe they didn't realise how popular he'll be with the ladies or they're really pushing for the "make sacrifices for the better good" theme.

Does the male warden propose to the queen first or does he suddenly announce it out of the blue?

I just hope they see how big this thread is and make sure they give us an option where him and the warden can have a happy ending and the world doesn't burn because of it...

They didn't make him propose because fangirls would have burned down BW HQ if he proposed to a Cousland while the other origins got nothing. By keeping his focus on the whole lack of heir, it levels the playing field as much as it can be leveled for all origins.

And, yes, male Cousland can propose to Anora, but it's more like a business arrangement than a proposal.

But aren't the other origins already missing out since they can't be queen and have to make do with being the mistress? It's the reason I've not been able to play as the other origins yet Posted Image lol

He could have propose to all, and to stay engage you don't make him king, if you're not playing a HNF...

But he instead will tell his lover that he doesn't know what being king will mean to your relationship.  Him proposing would be directly opposite of that conversation.

I think he should have proposed if you made yourself queen along side of him when playing the noble human origins. For obvious reasons not many folk are going to accept an elf or dwarf to be queen. However a way to give all the female origin stories at a crack at a proposal is if you decided to not to make him king and stay together at some point there should be some proposal line option thrown into the game. I know when I made myself queen with him and I did not get a proposal I nearly reached through the screen and  smacked the man. EVERY girl deserves a proposal, king or no king.

True, but that.....if he doesn't become King, you stay engage and it shouldn't stop him from asking if he doesn't become king and if he's harden he shouldn't care what the other noble thinks...

It's the vaguest hint they could put in and it's covering all origins and outcomes. The line will change a bit depending on how far into the game you are, I think.

You are right, proposing would be the exact opposite of what they wanted to reveal at that moment.

I think a proposal would undermine some of the bittersweetness of an Alistair romance. Because of his position in life, he's probably never thought much about marrying anyone. He spent his teen years as a templar, which meant he had no hope of marriage, and then as a Grey Warden he knows that a) his chances of procreating are slim and B) his lifespan is going to be shortened and c) he's probably going to die in battle anyway. And that's not even touching on the whole king thing, which further shrinks his options.

Before the Landsmeet, he's not going to propose because he's either not considering marriage, given all the other distractions, or he's not going to risk having to call it off if he's forced into becoming king (because that would be far worse, I think, than the just-a-break-up).

After the Landsmeet, he's either engaged to the PC (so it would be redundant for him to ask, so he makes his joke about not having to, which is kind of placating) or he's king without her and has to think about the politics involved (which is the impetus for the break-up).

If he's not made king, I suppose he could propose but that might mean even fewer players make him king and, if he continues to be a part of the DA story, I don't know how much support non-king Alistair is going to get. If Awakening is any indication, then BW isn't going to do much with him unless he is king.

Well, mine aren't THAT bad lol. But I have had some issues. Sadly I have no elves at that point in the game yet.

It's the last scene in the queue that does it, the others are fine. I tried it again and got my picture!

It looks you're for some reason getting a scene intended for the dwarves (judging by how low Alistair is placed, that's what's causing the .... boldness issue). It may be a conflict with another mod or something like that?

And more Yuki-stair love.

You people do realize you have released the genie from the bottle now?  Now that I know how to do this, its going to be like slide show of my trip through Ferelden (the kind that makes you cringe going over to the neighbors' house).  Posted Image

It might be. Like I said before, it only happens with one particular kiss in cmessaz's mod and it's not every time. I'll poke around my override folder tonight and see if I can't find something that might be causing it.

I know asking this is kind of a stretch, but....

Hundreds of pages back someone (kmeade maybe?) posted a incredibly schmexy pic of Alistair looking all angry and hot.  It was kind of blue in tone, I think during the sacred ashes quest.    I went through about 100 pages yesterday looking for it, and banged my head agianst the desk when I realsized there were 600 more to go through.

Does anyone have any idea what pic I'm talking about?

Maricstair + elven lass (Mage esp) totally cute.  Maric and his boys certainly know how to turn on the charm for the lady elves Posted Image

Maricstair looks like a stranger to me--and attractive stranger, but a stranger nonetheless. Are there changes besides the hair, or does the hairstyle really make that much difference? I find him unrecognizable.

I think Alistair agrees with Ser Mixalot. Here he is checking out Val's butt. The quartermaster made me giggle when I snapped this. Looks like he's rapping the song..."I like big butts and I cannot lie..."

Just hair and extra scruff on the chin/jaw. Nothing else was changed.

She stood at the edge of camp the last few days weighed heavily on her and she suddenly felt a wave or saddness rush over her.. the grief she had not allowed to overtake her took hold.

Alistair sensed her saddness and walked to her. Gently he touched her arm, she turned and as he pulled her in his arms, her tears flowed.

"My god," he thought, "she has indured so much." As he held her, love crept in.
