Morrigan manipulates. I just don't feel for her. Besides, I'm kind of curious about the way Flemeth reacts, I sort of want more info.

Ever since I read the toolset stuff on Flemeth (not THAT much, really, just indications that she knows that Morrigan lied to the player and Flemeth is going along with it rather than reveal Morrigan's hand, even though she's being set up by Morrigan), I find her a far more interesting character than Morrigan herself. It's too bad that she assures the player that the player will never see Flemeth again if the PC just takes the book and leaves. She could just be talking about the body she's in though. =p

Hold it!  What does it say in the toolset about this?????

THAT line makes me think she is reffering to the godchild. Unwilling to reveal Morrigan's hand?

Come to think of it, if you don't give Morrigan that first book, she doesn't give you the ritual option does she?

I thought the toolset said Morrigan was trully disturbed/shocked at finding out about the body-stealing thing?

I don't want to boot it up right now, since I have the game running. But I think Gilsa will deliver.

Yes, but she tells you that Flemeth intended for the DR. So it's not like she didn't know.

I always thought Morrigan & Flemeth were in on it together, but double crossing each other at the same time.

Huh. Something interesting in the toolset. When doing the Scared ashes quest, and talking to the shade from your past, it says you get Reflection if you said you failed them OR a weapon if you say you didn't fail them.

Flemeth: "And so you return." (as she knew you would)
Flemeth: "Lovely Morrigan has at last found someone willing to dance to her tune. Such enchanting music she plays, wouldn't you say?" (she knows that Morrigan has sent the player here to kill her, at some level she's impressed her daughter finally managed it)
PC: "We know your little secret, Flemeth."
Flemeth: "<desc>Laughs</desc> Which one, I wonder?" (a great big laugh, oh this is funny)
Flemeth: "What has Morrigan told you, hmm? What little plan has she hatched this time?" (she doesn't really want to know but she is intrigued)
PC: "She knows how you extend your unnatural lifespan."
Flemeth: "That she does. The question is, do you?" (she knows very well Morrigan has lied to the player)

Flemeth: "Ahhh, but it is an old, old story. One that Flemeth has heard before... and even told." (waving off the details as unimportant -- she knows Morrigan has betrayed her, and since she' s betrayed many others she doesn't really take it personally)
Flemeth: "Let us skip right to the ending, shall we? Do you slay the old wretch as Morrigan bids? Or does the tale take a different turn?" (a bit eager to cut to the chase, "old wretch" said with amusement as it's what Morrigan would call her -- basically she's saying "will you do what Morrigan tells you to or something else?")
PC: What do you propose?
Flemeth: "Morrigan wishes my grimoire? Take it as a trophy. Tell her I am slain." (as if this were nothing, "here take the thing that means nothing to me)
PC: I could do that.
Flemeth: "It's far easier this way, don't you think? The lies are always more fun." (enjoying it)
Flemeth: "The book is inside the hut, with notes and spells enough to make even Morrigan blush with delight." (as if the book is worthless and Morrigan is a fool to want it)
Flemeth: "You and I will not meet again. <emp>That</emp> I guarantee." (enigmatic, said with a wicked smile)

-----OR--------

PC: "Is it true you intend to take Morrigan's body?"
Flemeth: "<desc>Laughs</desc> Oh, I do like that." (she finds this to be very funny -- this is the story that Morrigan told? How cute! Obviously, she's also NOT answering the question)

Wow, that takes a whole new spin on the whole Flemeth/Morrigan situation. I don't know who to trust!

Double crossing enigmas wrapped in riddles with conundrums on top?  Flemeth knows Morrigan i lying, but what about? Since she doesn't really answer the question...could be she's NOT lying about the body snatching but IS lying about Flemeth needing to die to prevent it, so she can make off with the powerful child on her own. Which is what I would suspect personally.

I always figured she wasn't telling the truth. For my RP, I know she's lying, because that's part of her nature. What I decide is if it's lying only to better herself, or if it's something that will better both of us. Depending on my character, I either believe it's a lie to get me to do something for both of us and kill Flemeth, or I don't trust her (usually my evil/power hungry character) and take the grimoire for myself.

When you choose the dialogue options where you don't actually tell her anything then she says something like "Oh, Morrigan has found out something she doesn't like." Does that mean that Morrigan actually did find out something that gave her a genuine reason to kill Flemeth or she's speculating that that's what she told the player?

I think somewhere in the middle the truth lies. Flemeth dodges answering about taking over the body. Morrigan has lied about something, but possibly not THAT. It seems as if the lie is that Flemeth must die to prevent such a thing happening. I suspect, that while Flemeth did indeed plan to take her over, Morrigan could have resisted, and theres not a need to kill her. She just seized the moment to get Mom out of the way and take the fuit borne of their plan (the god child) for herself.

When I play, I have to go by what my character sees/knows. She's been traveling with Morrigan for months at this point. She's glad she and Alistair are alive, but when it comes down to who she trusts more, she's going to go with her friend. From an RP perspective, she has no reason not to trust Morrigan. *shrugs* Whatever lies and half-truths there are, my character doesn't know enough about it to pass judgment and can't lie to her friend like that.

The character description for Flemeth does confirm that she's a witch that inhabits the bodies of her daughters to extend her lifespan. My theory is that Morrigan is not lying about this fact, but is lying about Flemeth wanting to take Morrigan's body for herself. Morrigan could be pretending her life is in danger. I don't know. The VO notes for Morrigan studying the grimore and asking you to kill Flemeth don't really reveal anything other than "horrified," "mad at self," and "at a loss." They could easily just be instructions on what kind of tone the actress needs to convey in delivering these lines. Hard to say.

That definitely came across. I'm with LadyD on this, my characters just know their friend needs their help. But personally, I think the lie is that Flemeth must die, and that it's urgent...I think it's just the opening she needs to be greedy.

Flemmeth is the one who wanted to godchild to inhabit, perhaps?

Maybe she planned on taking over the demon child and Morrigan didn't know that? That's why she chose to get you to kill Flemeth and why she says "some things are worth preserving". Flemeth could have raised the child to it's full power and then took it's body, taking all of the knowledge as well.

I will honestly say that I don't share everyone's "friends" thing with Morrigan. She manipulates the warden regardless. I befriend her becuase, well you know what they say about enemies.
