The character description for Flemeth does confirm that she's a witch that inhabits the bodies of her daughters to extend her lifespan. My theory is that Morrigan is not lying about this fact, but is lying about Flemeth wanting to take Morrigan's body for herself. Morrigan could be pretending her life is in danger. I don't know. The VO notes for Morrigan studying the grimore and asking you to kill Flemeth don't really reveal anything other than "horrified," "mad at self," and "at a loss." They could easily just be instructions on what kind of tone the actress needs to convey in delivering these lines. Hard to say.

Flemmeth is the one who wanted to godchild to inhabit, perhaps?

possibly while Morrigan was carrying it. She can't tell you about that yet, and a threat to a child you'll potentially be carrying would be horrifying.

Morrigan's character notes say ...

Description: Morrigan lacks the will to care about most things enough to excite herself over them. Her primary concern is her survival. She has a difficult time relating to other people, and feels extremely vulnerable outside of the marsh. Her sense of humor is dark and twisted, and she finds the most morbid things amusing.

Her primary goal is to gain skills and knowledge and become a powerful sorceress in her own right. She believes that having a child with the PC's blood will give her access to this power.

Personal background: Morrigan was raised in the marshes by her sorceress mother, Flemeth, and had little contact with society proper. She and Flemeth have a relationship more like servant and master than like mother and daughter. She fears being rendered powerless (magically or personally).

Morals: None at all. Morrigan learned morality from her abomination mother in the marshes where she grew up.

Why exactly can't she tell you about it? A "friend" wouldn't keep something like that from you. She wants to make sure her cards are all in place. She manipulates you.

Well then. I wonder if this changes at all after she befriends you or falls in love. Or is she is just that good of a liar.

And as for inhabiting the body of a old god, wasn't it mentioned somewhere that in order to shapeshift, she needs an imprint of the soul? Flemeth can already shapeshift into a dragon. Maybe Morrigan can shapeshift with the powers of an Old God once she acquires the child. She wouldn't necessarily need the Old God's body.

Flemeth: "Laughs Oh, I do like that." (she finds this to be very funny -- this is the story that Morrigan told? How cute! Obviously, she's also NOT answering the question)

Wow.  So Flemeth doesn't really intend to possess Morrigan?  And the Robes of Possession...?

Edit:  NM, I see you went on to discuss this further already.

Luckily, no. That would have meant a nuking of this character.

A while back, some guy was arguing that Alistair was a great deal more experienced than the PC because he had fought darkspawn etc.  I found that when you talk to him about having killed darkspawn before, he says that he has only fought them once and that that was before the battles in Ostagar because Duncan had been keeping him out of those.  Interesting.  It also underscores Alistair's frustration at being sent off to the Tower.  I bet it's part of his guilt over Duncan, too.  He might have been there for Duncan, but his birthright got in the way again.  It's no wonder he hates it so much.

Poor guy.  I am half tempted on this PC to let him stay a Warden, if I didn't know that he just disappears post-Origins.

Heh.  I love this Dalish mage mod.  I put my PC in Dalish armor and dual-dagger (Forgotten daggers), but she still got the super-cute "Oh, uh, you don't look like a mage... I mean, how interesting" line.  :wub::wub:  And this time, Alistair is absolutely right- she looks nothing like a mage!

Sorry, yuki, I actually changed over to Scruffistair, intending to start him out that way on this game.  But I got one sight of boyband hair and had to go back to Maricstair.  I figure that as soon as he got out of the templars he let himself go a bit to look rougher around the other soldiers.  Idun doesn't think much of him at this point, but she's mourning Tamlen and jumpy around all the strange shemlen men.

I think I've had one start off that way, but then she was like "Well, lets see, the guy I love lied to me about his birthright, this other guy is the assassin that tried to kill me, that redhead over there has been lying on top of lies for weeks, and on top of that, there's the drunken warrior and the golem that killed it's last master...maybe she's ok after all!":D

I will not accept any sort of justification, Maricstair is a Blight on his own and his hair is the Archdemon. I would gladly destroy my soul to be rid of it :crying:

I am tempted to do the non king ending with Alistair, but I'm afraid when I choose to return to Orzammar I'll get that blasted "for a time" crap:(

Wow lots of discussions while I was asleep...I never knew tht about Flemeth/Morrigan though I always suspected something funny was up.

On the Godchild possession thing...ummm isn't the point of the US ending that 2 souls can't inhabit one body? In the end the possessor is getting a child with Morrigan/PC's (or Alistair/Loghain's) DNA. The soul (if its at all possible) is going to get shoved out and the possessor is left with just a empty human husk to inhabit, hence no godsoul?

Well, Alistair apologises and has a good reason. Zevran, as you know, is not my favorite anyway, neither is Oghren, and Shale is just shale. I never spend much time with her. Morrigan's lies are pretty big to me. But thats just the way I am I suppose. I didn't even trust her my first playthrough when I didn't know what was going to happen. She was a you-know-what right off the bat.

Can I just say again how glad I am to have discovered tmp's mods. I've got the elf female proportions fix, the underwear model fix, the Dalish armor fix, and tucked hair. Basically, my elf is 100% more feminine and normal-looking. She has hips, a waist, and no baseball-mitt hands.  Oh, and strong-looking arms.  It makes me happy.

YAY! I finally made a good face on Toolset! I'll post it later when I figure out Fraps. She looks very mature, which I excuse because Aelana has grown a lot over her journey. And she started out with scars but.....Andraste healed them after Aelana went through the fire at the Urn of Sacred Ashes. And she got tattoos from the Dalish.

I can make up an excuse for anything lol
