I think I could remain a Warden because it reminds me of Alistair. It's what he wanted to do with his life and it gives my PC the opportunity to shape the Ferelden order into something worthy of his memory. It's also a way to rebuild a sense of family. With companions scattering and home either destroyed or defiled, that's the secondary concern after losing Alistair.

I think it's more that it would be just a constant, aching reminder of what she lost and what could have been.  *shrugs*  But everyone is different and will have different reactions.  My mage might stay, actually.  She has nothing else.  I could see her asking to stay at Weisshaupt, of going out to visit and talk to Alistair every day, etc....

My Alistair US songLyrics if you just wanna read.

Then for WC...everyone is throwing a freaking party and hailing the PC as the big hero.  Not a word about the man who ACTUALLY killed the damn thing.  And Wynne's throwaway line about "the poor boy" bleh.
Yes, it must be all about stroking the male PC ego and getting to kill Alistair/Loghain and remaining alpha male.  I can think of no other reason (aside from that bong water theory of mine) that they would do this.
For those who really hate Alistair...yea Loghain gets a "hero" card and Al gets absolutely nothing.

As I was thinking about what my PC would do, I think she would stick around in Denerim for a little while (NOT at court) in order to heal people.  She's a spirit healer and immune to the taint, a lot of people would be dying of wounds and Blight poison.  After that she would accompany Alistair's ashes *gulp* to Weisshaupt.  At which point I think she would fall apart.  Being a Warden without Alistair with her?  No.  Returning to a Circle Tower and sitting in lectures with those vapid lyrium suckers?  Maker, no.  Returning to Ferelden at all and having everyone call her the Hero?  She might do that in a masochistic bid to drive the knife deeper, but probably not.  If they aren't going to recognize their true hero, they aren't getting the other one, either.

So, I think that fanfic someone linked, The Sanest Thing, has it about right.  From Weisshaupt to the Deep Roads.  Hopefully she wouldn't end up stuck in the Fade like Katriel.   I don't know what to make of all that "the soul of the Grey Warden is destroyed."  If it's true, then maybe something like that would happen to her, i.e. wandering the Fade.

Yeah, my fic has my HNF sorta losing her mind at Weisshaupt for a little while and flat out refusing to have anything to do with the Grey Wardens ever again.  She would eventually return to Ferelden and Fergus would be able to keep her from going off to the Deep Roads and dying.  He understands what she's feeling.  She would have to find something to keep her busy though.

As for the soul thing, I'm sorta hoping the soul isn't destroyed, but that two souls inhabiting one body means they can't exist anymore in this realm, for lack of a better description.  I'm gonna go with killing the AD gets you a first class ticket to the Maker's side.  The alternative is too awful.

This would kind of neuter that ending for me. I mean, the whole point is that it's a truly terrible sacrifice. That's what makes it such a strong emotional ending, whether one is in a relationship or not, or even friendly with the other wardens. And it makes the choice of Morrigan's ritual excusable in a way that doing it for personal happiness is not.. Preventing someone from losing their very soul is about as strong a reason as you can have to take such a risk.

A child.  I was thinking at first to make her 12 but thats almost an adult.  So I dropped her to about 8 or so in my mind.  Its deliberately left vague for the reader.[/quote]

Ok.  When I started reading I pegged her at about 15, and then the story stopped making sense, so I lowered the age in my head.  And then some other stuff happened and I was again confused.

It also really emphasizes why she didn't want to remain in Denerim with Granger.  I figured about 8-9 is old enough if you HAVE to take care of yourself you can (5 or 6 would be too young).  But she really DOES want to be a child, and was testing Alistair's trustworthiness almost every chapter till Seven. By then she didn't want him to go.

I think an HN character could do that, because you are raised with an internal sense of the importance of those things and an intactness of character from having had a real family.  My PC is more of a Zevran, minus the torture and murders.  No one cared about her until Alistair.

Blah, blah, etc.

Well, if I'm looking at my PCs who have romanced Alistair to the end, they were HNFs and mages. I think a mage can have a sense of belonging to something, even if they're locked away in a prison. And I like to think that my companions become like family, even to those characters who don't come from the happiest places, and that's something worth recapturing.

I just see loneliness as punishment, and it breaks my heart to think of Alistair fading from existence, so I would want my PCs to not go that route because he certainly wouldn't want that to happen.

Which lie? There are so many to choose from!!!!!

Alistair's. Lies by someone she loved (her brother) is what got her exiled, he's the first person she trusted since losing everything, including her first love.

That too depends on my character. My other HNF didn't find out until Eamon told her, and she wasn't thrilled. She broke it off with him, because that particular character is pretty broken up about her family and being in love with the future king scares her.

This is one reason I as a player like to go to Redcliffe first.  That way Alistair tells you pretty soon and it makes it better than waiting, say, like 6+ months.  Not every character does it, though.

I usually go to RC first, but I catch myself going long enough to get the admission, then leaving and well, that seems strange for my character. Plus, as a DNF there was no way I wasn't marching my very shapely behind to Orzammar first after Bodahn told me King Endrin was dying or dead. It's hard, but I'm trying to avoid his quest and talking to Gorim until the landsmeet. I don't want to trigger his post-tent admission until then, since Cmessaz fixed it, I've never seen that scene, and I'd rather they end things there than in  a room full of people. Though having never done that scene I'm a bit worried I'll screw it up. I wouldn't do it if I knew as non king he'd just go to Orzammar with me without that stupid for a time crap. It's either that or be chancellor long distance.

That's why my PC always does the DR.  It's more to give the PC something, anything to hope for in the WC ending, even if it's not true.  I think in the WC ending, even though she won't suicide, when her Calling finally does come, it's sort of a relief.

And Morrigan lovers think their romance ends poorly.  I think the WC/US is the most tragic b/c there isn't even a chance they will ever be together ever again.  Ever.  Posted Image

Personally I think the DR is a huge cheat.  I find the US ending uniquely satisfying (and the conversations at the gate are especially poignant knowing whats going to happen. Oghren's at 100 friendly is especially so).  That said I can't NOT save Alistair and the PC in a female run because I don't romance anyone else in the game.  I want them to be "happy" in as much as they can be in the game.  So I have not done a WC ending with Alistair at romanced status or US either.  I only did as much as I could for a save to send to Cmessaz of the gate scene. (And to get the dialogues for my fic).
Did it once on Roland.  Never ever ever again.

I also thought it was an orca xD

If you play a male human character you can easily swap your character's head for Alistair's. You can be long lost twins, haha.

I remember first playing it on Dreamcast....good times. The newest one was sort of disappointing, but the one with the war game was the sh*t.

My tastes in blades tend to be a little more on the plain side.  Kilgorin is about as fancy as I get.  And the sword that comes in the Ivory Tower set.  Otherwise I try to stick with simple things like the Cousland blade.
