is there something wrong with me or am i the ONLY one who sees these Awakenings people as different? The only thing Anders and Alistair have in common personality wise is snarkieness and general coloring. They could have easily made him dark haired but I suspect they didn't because you get one darkhaired companion in Nathaniel already.
And Velanna...has Morrigans' hairdo and is a mage. That's it. Morrigan was a survivalist/pragmatist as much as her limiited world view allows her. She would never go all kill crazy on merchant caravans.

Nope, not the only one. I see Anders and Alistair as being very different people, and as for Morrigan, I had no trouble accepting her presence, but I couldn't make someone I saw as a mass murdering sociopath into a grey warden.

I see Anders and Alistair as being similar for a few reasons beyond the snarky blond thing (and some of it has to do with parallel upbringings and the way they coped when forced into their respective servitude).

I almost feel like they're two versions of the same person- one who was given free reign over his life and maintained that, even though he was constantly having those reigns snatched from him, and the other who was never given any choice ever and, as such, remained (outside of annoying the Chantry higher-ups) as passive in his life as he could possibly be until someone else freed him. Anders is overly confident and self-serving but has a fairly strong compassionate streak and Alistair is duty-bound to a fault and compassionate, but he can be self-serving (and self-centered) at times. It's like an argument for nature v. nurture in my head.

The Morrigan/Velanna thing is a non-starter for me, though. Besides being prickly, they have nothing in common that I can see.

Sure there are a few differences but they share too many traits to be a coiencende.  Bioware are great writers and could easily come up with really unique characters so why give velanna/Morri and Anders/Alistair so many similiar traits, it is not an accident.

Velanna is cold and leads a secluded life cut off from most of her clan.  Morri lead a secluded life with just her mother.  Velanna and Morrigan both lack empathy towards strangers but they can eventually open up, but can still be quite sarky.

Anders and Alistair both try to be comedians.  Humour is a bit different, Ander is more witty, while Alistair is more silly but there are lines in there that could easily come from both.  They really can't take anything seriously until it thrown in their face and bites them.

It's not a coiencidence, Bioware is up to something nasty...

Actually...come to think of it...aside from Alistair and Zevran who both are blonde NONE of the companions share the same colorings...

Leliana: Red, Morrigan:Brunette, Wynne:White haired

Alistair and Zev: Blonde (but one is an elf), Oghren: Red, Sten: white haired (and like 7 feet tall).

They made enough differences physically between them too so you can have them in your group and keep from mistaking one for another.

Maybe thats why they do it.

Characters can share traits without being the same person. Do Alistair and Anders share things? Yes.  But they're still separate people. I really have no trouble keeping them apart and distinct in my mind.

Also, am I the only one who does not mod the characters at all? When I start a game, the character personality becomes inextricably linked with their looks/voice. I find it incredibly jarring to change what they look like once I've gotten to know them.

syl:  And even though Alistair and Zevran are both blond, there are still enough coloring differences that they don't seem similar.

Yea I don't see how they are similar either.
I thought Anders was awesome and funny. Alistair on the otherhand was...ok I guess.

No, like I said before Maricstair is an exception because it's only hair, which changes in real life as well. Even subtle changes in coloring or facial structure freaks me right out.

What do you mean?  I'm not imaginative enough and don't have enough caffeine in me to follow the conspiracy theory.

I think they could just be pushing buttons so that you "bond" with companions in the scant, short time that you're on screen with them.

I think she's implying that Anders and Velanna are like NPC methadone to help the players break themselves of their Alistair/Morrigan habit so we don't freak out quite so much when they're not around in the future (either MIA or dead).

I won't use structural mods, either.  I do like SA Morrigan because it only changes her default robe to a more practical version of the same robe.  And obviously Maricstair.  I don't even like the mods that change the tints of the game, because to me the vanilla skin and eye colors are not just what I'm used to, they look more realistic than the mods.

Yea my point exactly.  They are all different enough physically as well as personality wise I have no issues with distinguishing them apart.
This goes for the Awakenings crew too.  Any similarities are superficial at most.  (IE they share traits but all are distinctive at least in my mind.)

Oh, right.  I think we discussed that a bit when we noticed that Nathaniel had some of the same fetch lines as Alistair.

It's not going to work, if that's what they're planning.  Much as I liked the Awakening companions, they were there and then they're gone.  Buh bye.  I don't even want to replay Awakening again.  I started to do so on my HNM and thought "what's the point."  Meanwhile, I'm still replaying Origins, obviously.

 Seriously... it's just Bioware being lazy.  Here's a perfect example:

Rica DNO
Hair BLN
Eyes LBL

Rica DCO
Hair RED
Eyes GRN

Yeah...

O_o  I failed to follow that.  Rica looks different in your games if you're playing as a DN or DC?

Yeah, Rica when she's in Bhelen's bedroom is much different than the Rica in the DC origin.  I'm fixing it now.  I'm unsure if the Rica from Orzammar is different because I haven't got that far yet.  I was surprised that they have seperate files to begin w/.  Like Irving will always pull the same Iriving from the mage origin.  There's no second file for the tower.

Hmm, I always wanted lighter eyes, never knew the answer was to hook up with a rich dwarf. *takes notes*

I recall seeing her look the same.  O_o  I will check when I go home.  I do not recall seeing Rica with anything other than red hair.  If it's a glitch that she appears the same for me, then yay me.

There's now a fix for Rica on my project page if anyone cares enough to bother.

The answer to all problems is to hook up with a rich dwarf.

Ok, i have uploaded the updated version of the proportion fix thing, with hopefully better working massive armour model. If you're using the symmetrical version then it's enough to download just that one, the main package is only needed to for the regular version of the armour.
