Well, to be fair, Anora ignoring her duty doesn't make it right for Alistair to do so.  It's something that shows what seperates how Alistair and Anora do their duty to Ferelden.  Anora will not do anything that jeopardizes her power.  Alistair, otoh, always puts his duty first, over and above any personal concerns he has.  It's just who he is.  He will do his duty, regardless of the cost to himself.

Now, if you take some of that burden from him, by either making youself queen or fighting to keep him, he understands that his duty doesn't have to be defined in such a narrow way.

Really want to see if Bioware plans to continue on this part of the storyline in the future. I myself would like to see it, I think it would make for an interesting plot.

My Fort Drakon scenes always end up with my PC on her knees in a compromising position, either with Alistair or that guy next door. Is that just me?? My game is telling me something... maybe there's a secret counter on how many tent trips you make and the game decides your PC is a sl*t.  LOL

As a Cousland, Male or Fem, getting Al on the throne is perfect (from a power grabing stand point).  You are his BFF or Woman - you can tell him every day what a great guy Fergus is, get him a good position in the royal court, and just generally excrecise your infuence.  Then when there are no more Therins, the Couslands can take their rightful place on the throne.

Yes.  You talk to him to pick out your rescue party.  You're all 'They is gonna come and rescue me' and he's all 'good luck with that'  from what I recall.  Hmmm, I don't appear to have a rescue save.  I wonder what happened to it.

I never make him king if I don't plan on making my character queen exactly for that reason. If my character isn't queen there is more of a sense of necessity there than otherwise. I am just saying that the whole "Theirin" bloodline excuse many people throw around doesn't seem to be as big an issue, and if Alistair and the Warden are ruling together they can always name an heir if they can't provide one through natural means. They're not shirking their duties, just going through them by going down a different route. Their ascent to the throne wasn't exactly a textbook situation either, haha.

Mostly it's just the whole "why put yourself on the throne if your Warden can't make babies she's a selfish failure because she can't get pregnant" thing that makes me want to slam my face into my desk, since there are so many alternatives.

He's basically a stand-in for Alistair in that you talk to him to tell the game whether you want to break out, who you want to come rescue you, etc.

The other nice thing is that if he's not in the party when you're captured, Alistair sort of growls at Anora when she gets back and does her bit with Eamon.  Not as satisfying as Zevran's line there (where he implies that she's going to be swimming with the fishes any minute now), unfortunately.

Does he still say his line about dumping her in the river if you surrender? or does Wynne's line just override it?  I've never been able to go kill Howe without Al and Wynne.  Might on my current playthrough though Just to see.  Maybe take Sten and Morrigan with me this time.

Me too! I find it quite disturbing, to be honest.

And if the game has counter, I'm in big trouble. Especially given my propensity for doing terrible and/or sexy things and then reloading. What if there's, like, a Game Warden who pops up after a time and tells your LI all the crap you've done while abusing saves.

PC: Only twice, and the first time was a foursome. Doesn't count.
Alistair: And what's this about sparing Loghain?

PC: You can't leave, we've only gotten one ally so far.

Oh, I agree with you.  I'm just talking about Alistair needing a better excuse if he's hardened.  I disagree witht hat part.  Hardened never changes what he feels his duty is.  It just makes him more willing to compromise his own personal standards/morals to keep the woman he loves.
