A peculiar issue/bug has come to my attention and I could use some help locating the cause. Alistair will no longer converse in the wild. His normal dialogue options are available at Ostagar, but disappear when you go to the wilds, and stay gone when you get back to Ostager. They may reappear later, I don't know, but this just won't do. I tried removing everything from my override folder, and uninstalling any mod that didn't come from Bioware. No difference. I was going to try an old game, but didn't have one. I asked Lady Damodred to check, and it was the same for her. Does anyone not have the latest patch/Awakening installed so we can see if that's what did it?
It was always that way for me. After you get the quest from Duncan, you can't talk to him freely until you're rescued by Flemeth. There was a mod that allowed you to ask him about the Joining after you got the quest, but I don't think you're supposed to be able to converse with him at that point in the vanilla game.
No, I've always been able to talk to him in the Wilds. It was just this last playthrough that I wasn't.
Yeah, me too. I've always found it very nice from an RP point of view that we could get to know each other while on the joining quest. I space the conversation out in moments of calm between fights. If it's always happened to some, that pretty much rules out an issue with the last patch and makes it a game bug.
It looks like a reinstall may be in order....
This is weird. In the toolset, there's just a series of comments that he gives if you talk to him once you've accepted the quest to gather blood/treaties and no more conversation trees open up until Ostagar is finished. Like I've said, without mods I've never been able to get him to talk at that point, and this is on PC and PS3.
That's weird because before, when I talked to him about the Joining he would tell me to ask him later and he would tell me a little about it when we were in the Wilds.
It's the same dialogue tree as in Ostager. It just continues into the wilds. Or should.
