Ok, so now it's clear. Alistair never cared about justice, since he spared Howe whom everyone says was behind most of Loghain's activities and was his second. He does not kill Loghain because he is afraid he might backstab him, because clearly he doesn't mind sparing THE backstabber of the story, Howe.
Alistair shows his true colors at last. The idiot.
Or...this is really AU and has no actual impact on the game and characters? And how much might he really have learned about Howe? We don't actually get that much info as the PC, except for the HN who *knows* what he is.
I'm sure there are lots of things in this game that don't fit right with the characters. It doesn't change anything.
Nope, it has impact on characters, as it shows what will become of them without the PC.
We already know about Howe and how he is behind most of Loghain's activities, even when not an HN.
If I am going to spare a man like him, I would have done some homework.
If he doesn't mind sparing Howe, because he needs help, then killing Loghain makes him an idiot as Howe is no where near as useful as Loghain.
So him killing Loghain has nothing rational about it. It's just pure vengeance. Alistair is now officially an idiot and I must admit that I was starting to like the guy but now I reverted back to normal
