Look, my Hurlock Vanguard. He's so cute, he's making puppy dog eyes. He always gets this look when the Archdemon calls him.

Fine, screenshots then. ^_^

Celtic, eh?  I has a fair amount of that.  I really like some of the songs from Celtic Woman, in addition to all the insturmental stuff I have.

I love Celtic music.  esp when I am writing.  And this CD fits Teagan, its going to be a sweet PC/Teagan romance after the events of the game.  Chapter one is done already.

Hmmmm...Celtic music. I'm listening to How to Destroy Angels. Oddly appropriate for the subjects going on in this thread.

I thought it was when the Howes supported Orlais?

Well, the Codex puts it this way:

During the Tower Age (approximately 300 years later), however, Bann Conobar Elstan was allegedly murdered by his wife, Flemeth, which ended the bloodline. Conobar's Captain of the Guard, Sarim Cousland, acquired land and title, which the Cousland family has controlled ever since.

Subsequently, the Couslands declared their independence from the Amaranthine, and instigated a war that lasted for thirty years. When the war finally ended, Highever was not only granted independence, but also half of what used to be southwestern Amaranthine.

During the Black Age, Highever became a teyrnir almost by default after Haelia Cousland battled, and defeated, the werewolf threat encroaching upon the land.

If the 30 years war with Howes was supposed to happen during the very (relatively) recent occupation by Orlais, then it's really hideous way to word and arrange that in the Codex entry, because it'd for zero reason go back and forth hundreds of years while trying to make it all sound like linear sequence of events.

I don't suppose you get to design him, huh?  I always wanted to give my hurlock vanguard some really cute facepaint.

No, thast 30 year war was the hundreds of years earlier that I mentioned.  The rebellion against Orlias was different.

-deep breath-

Technically the Teyrnir of Highever was supposed to be the Howe's because Conobar (who Flemeth murdered) was the Bann then, and was a cousin to the Howes. His sheriff or something got the land instead of the Howes, for whatever reason. The sheriff's name was Sarim Cousland. Thus, the Howes might view it as the Couslands stealing their land.

Not to mention the Couslands were prefered, so that might sow some bad seeds.

and Bryce was ten times the father/man than Howe, Tim Curry notwithstanding.  Bryce is my favorite Origin NPC.

I would say, incorrect.  When the Couslands rose to power, there was no teyrnir then.  Highever did not become a teyrnir until the Black Age and the werewolf threat.  Banns under one of the Couslands (Haelia or some other dude, codexes conflict) swore fealty to the Couslands, elevating them to teyrns.
