Something like that. Aside from what appeared to be massively long spawn periods in front of Fort Drakon (it kept popping out one or two dwarves at a time, and I sat there for 20 minutes just picking them off), there were a few times where the enemy just... stood there. I couldn't whack them with my sword for damage. It happened at the beginning of the Alienage for sure, they took no damage until they started fighting back.

This isn't an issue in my main Origins games or Awakenings so I have no idea what the hell is going on.

It also makes it more likely that DA2 will be a followup to Awakening, in style, rather than Origins. They cut back on use of actors there, and some people loved the result. Here, they did away with character interactions and acting altogether, and it doesn't seem to have mattered. They didn't even bother with coherent character choices for the setup. I think they created a game model with Origins that they are unwilling to pay for in future. It's like joining a book-of-the-month club and finding out that only the first was a real book, the others are to be photocopies of Reader's Digest versions. Maybe I'm over-reacting, but each DLC has had less dialogue than the last.

I sadly fear the same thing. They seem to do away with everything they were praised for in vanilla DAO. I wont be buying this DLC. Exactly. They didn't bother having the companions make choices that might be in character, except possibly the Alistair/Leliana hookup--it's interesting that it seems to be bothering some more than the fact that they have Alistair supposedly leading but making choice after choice that he argues against in the game--and yet these choices are being taken as some kind of canon. The characters exist in this only to be killed, not because it makes sense.

I hate to admit it, but this is sort of fun guys. Out of habit I keep trying to kill the darkspawn though.

One thing I've noticed thus far that is kind of irritating is the presence of random other darkspawn outside of my party.  I just noticed a minor npc that had been killed by one of them.  I suppose on higher difficulties this wouldn't be such an issue.  I took a ss of that npc's corpse and it can be found here.

If this sell even marginally well, it will be more profitable than other types of DLC and we will see more of it. Yes, not sure who these people supposedly were who didn't think it would sell well.  Most of us in this thread seemed to agree that it was tuned towards the idiocracy, cost Bioware nothing and thus would do well financially.

I wish it didn't try to tell any story, though.  What it does try to do seems to be on the level of RtO for writing, which is also just what I predicted.

I was one of those people. I thought, silly me, that in a genre that was devoted to storytelling/roleplaying, a wide majority would demand it. If PBS started showing Survivor, it wouldn't fly. I expected the same sort of thing to be true here. Not so much.

Well I still enjoy the base game and will look to fans to release quality DLC (Like Ser Gilmore and TMP's lovely stuff)  If you are looking for a decent DLC Might I recommend Return to Korcari Wilds.  Its actually pretty good for a fan made mod.

Agreed. I enjoyed it. There were issues with the writing/acting, but that was clearly because of english language issues. The technical aspects were superb.

I'll pass, sorry Bioware but I've never been a fan of playing the badguys like these anyways.  And i'm too attached to my DA:O characters to see them get slaughtered, too actually wield the sword that kills them.  After 6 months of playing DA my loyalties lie with my companions lol.

Oh, thanks for this! I am refreshing it often to see if there's anything new. I didn't think I'd care about anyone dying until I saw Gorim. Just didn't even think about him being there. Wow. =p
