Did you play the new DLC? Or just read about it? Cuz it's kinda fun... in a guilty pleasure sort of way.

No. I am not going to buy or play it till they work on fixing some of the bugs in the original game and other DLCs and Awakenings ESPECIALLY.  After the disappoiting bugs I found in Awakenings I haven't purchased anything new, not even a cheap DLC.
Umm let me revise that.  Not going to buy/play THAT  particular DLC at all. No interest in it.  Not into GTA with swords.

Haha it's not that bad.  It plays almost exactly like the Denerim siege in DAO... except from the other side.  Although I do feel you on the bugs issue.  I crashed 3x in the archdemon fight yesterday.

If they had fleshed it out with more cutscenes of the main chars it could've been a little more powerful I think.  But meh, it was only $5!

Five bucks and an afternoon I wouldn't ever get back. Money I can always get. Time I can't ever get back. My enjoyment of the game comes from characters I can relate to, and play (even villians I can kill I can relate to such as Howe and Loghain). Playing as a mindless drone just running around slaughtering npcs I know from the game holds zero appeal for me.

And look at all the anger it stirred up on the boards yesterday...too many bad associations for me to ever want to play it now even had I wanted to.

Well, you do get to 'hear' the Archdemon speak! Sort of...

I was more curious about Alistair's story minus the Warden than anything, and it turned out to be quite the cluster****. I wonder why Bioware chose to make Ali look so incompetent.

At any rate, I'm off for now. Have fun discussing Alistair/Teagan/whatever!

Darkspawn Chronicles is pretty much what you'd expect: replaying the siege of Denerim as a Darkspawn Vanguard where you only get to burn buildings and slaughter people. Hardly any character development and only a little info on your companions.

However, seeing the dead companions on top of Fort Drakon was disturbing.

The death scenes for Leliana and Morrigan were horrible.

Just watching Morri's broken body laying on the ground was sickening, especially considering she might have been pregnant..

Same goes for poor Leliana.

Now I'm not exactly a fan of Alistair, although I consider him a loyal companion and a friend, but the way he died in chronicles was just disgusting.

You'd think they'd at least allow him to die on his feet, sword in hand while fighting. Just as every other companion did.

Watching that scene, I half expected him to kiss the feet of that Hurlock Vanguard before getting scewered...

*changing the subject hopefully back to a more positive note*

A lot of PC's get some good glare shots. I epic fail at looking intimidating (I bet Morrigan is laughing inside at this) and at getting screenies.  But I do like the way her eyes look in this.  Even with normal colors elves have eerie eyes.

And Al still looks like he's birdwatching to me...is that a cardinal?

But Genitivi doesn't give me the urge to set him on fire.

I tried that one time...that scene really surprised me for how high the giggle quotient actually was.  I reloaded (cause I couldn't kill the silly old guy) but it sure had its wtf moment for me Posted Image

Set the video settings to very high, use anti-aliasing option, tick frame buffer effects?

oh and yea I guess what Klara said too, that sounds about right...I still suck at screenshots though.  I'm always a second too early or a second too late.

Yeah...Leliana's song is just epic.

"What? Lead? Me? No, no, no. No leading. Bad things happen when I lead. We get lost, people die, and the next thing you know I'm stranded somewhere without any pants." - Alistair.

hmmm maybe my gamma is higher...not sure what I am doing differently...I always thought my pics are too dark myself but i do see a difference there big difference in brightness.

I like Leli's song. I always save right before I trigger it so I can go back a few times and watch it. One of the nicer moments in DA

I don't mind the song so much.  It's the animation that goes along with it.  I felt awkward the whole time.
