The comic adds nothing to the story that you don't already know from playing ME2 and talking with Miranda, TIM, and Liara.

I hate Liara anymore...my FemShep has a better ME2 option anyways.

Hate is a harsh word, and I'm really surprised to see that coming from you :unsure:

It's what BW wants and I always listen to them.

Who does BW want my FemShep romancing in ME2? My FemShep's romances are the best kept secret in the ME universe. I don't even know.

It's still the story though.

The comics bridge ME1 to ME2. Liara alludes to the fact that she helped secure Shepard's body as well as the Feron guy.

Ok I see, so whatever is told in the comics can be interpreted as happening in the video game ME story, but just was not revealed while playing the game?  So they have to maintain continuity between the two then?

The thing that's massively irritating as well is that handing Shepard's corpse over to Cerberus was shown to be deeply traumatic and guilt inducing for Liara, and causes her to fear that Shepard will hate here, and that her guilt for everything that's happened to Shepard, all of her suffering and emotional pain surrounding her love for Shep, reciprocated or not, is shown as being the chief motive for her hunting the Shadow Broker in ME2, most likely as a way of redeeming herself and helping to ease her own pain.

Redemption literally ends with Miranda asking Liara "So, what are you going to do now?" and Liara replies with "I have another friend to save, and have made a new enemy. We all have." WTH?! Why is the display of Liara's emotions not depicted? So frustrating, disappointing and irritating.

Then what do you get from reading them then?  You just are able to fill in the gaps before they are revealed in the game?  Or the comics go into more detail?

Yup. I'm not here to argue that. I don't really care for how it was handled, but that's not going to stop me from enjoying everything else. Plus, the story is not over, and it's still able to be all tied together. Maybe after all the loose ends are tied up, it will be a very compelling story. Only time will tell. :)

Correct. At the end of the 4th comic it actually says "find out what happens with the rest of this story in Mass Effect 2 from BioWare". It's meant to tie directly into the story of the game. Just like the Novels.

Yep, the comic are supposed to be events that happened "before" the start of ME2. That means what she says in ME2 is the real deal. Still deeply in love with Shepard and still true to her.

I am gonna have to check out the comics and read the novels.  I have not done either yet.  I don't really get into comics, but I probably could get interested into an ME comic.

The comics are the canon story, so yes, they did happen in the video game ME universe. The impression I've gotten from posters in this thread is that there is little in the comics that was not told by the characters in ME2.

Doesn't sound like anything juicy then in the comics.  Maybe just another revenue stream from loyal ME fans?

You learn about Liara's friend she's referring to in ME2. It's the Drell Feron. That was the only new piece of info from the comics. Everything else is explained in the game in one form or another.

Ah hah, I kept wondering who the hell was Feron!  Do they go into pretty good detail about that?

either way you look about it i think liara, ash/ kaiden and miranda- simply because she has like uber plot armour in ME2 if you think about it- will all have a huge impact on what happens in ME3.

The only thing I remember on him from the comics, is he's a double agent for both Cerberus and the Shadow Broker.

There's also the thing that the Shadow Broker is beyond the Omega 4 relay, at the Collector base as it shows him talking to the Collector General face to face, in person.

Liara is also now in possession of a data cache that proves the Shadow Broker is aiding the Collectors, and by proxy the Reapers. It's strange how that's not really touched upon, as it shows that Liara is aware of the bigger picture regarding the whole Reaper invasion regarding her hunt for the Shadow Broker, especially if he is in deep with the Reapers as it is implied.

The comics go into no detail about anything.  From a story-telling perspective, I found them disappointing.  There's pretty pictures though!

There are files on the disk that people have said implies DLC where Liara confronts the Shadow Broker (and I also read that she becomes the Shadow Broker...?).

The files are there for a DLC yes, but her becoming the Shadow Broker is standard rumor mill speculation.

I'm gone for an hour and I come back to all of thisPosted Image!

The Redemption series (which seems to be the focus of this topic now, despite me having seen almost no discussion relating to it elsewherePosted Image) basically gives you the specifics on how Liara got Shepard's body back. Apart from sacrificing himself for the mission, though, it hardly seems like Feron is friend material to Liara in the series.

As for what she did for Shepard, I'm not saying I'm not grateful for that. I'm saying that Liara's complete change in character was devastating for me. Maybe BioWare's getting us ready for a heartwarming reunion in ME3. Maybe they took the "dark second act" too far. I guess time will tell.

I can see how Liara fans would be frustrated with this not really being touched upon in the game.  I somtimes think that the SB is an organic that has been indoctrinated by a Reaper for an indefinite amount of years.
