Pissed: My car froze on me this morning, so I got to work via public transport. I have been waiting for the bus for about 30 min., it was about -20 C outside, I think I got frostbites.

Happy: I'm starting to feel my fingers again. Although I'm thinking, that might not be such a good thing after all.

The thing which pissed me off today is that I got up too late, my mom rubbing it in all the way (she was driving me to the bus station 'cus the school of my sis is headed in the same direction) and the fact that I totally couldn't follow with the stuff the tutor was saying during the one class for which I ultimately came late. I didn't really care...but it's still univ, eh...gotta work to be able to work even harder in the future! Oh the joy! *sarcasm*

What made me happy? Hmm...nothing.

Well when the rest of the world manages to eat away at North America (namely the US with Canada on the side's) control of 30 Percent of the worlds GDP, which is greater than all of Europes, then you'll get more out of it. Hell the US and then Japan got the ball rolling on games anyways, and unsurprisingly most games are taliored to those populations.  Kinda like Kit Kat Bars, throught most of the world where its just another candy bar they don't sell that well and come in one flavor. In Japan the name is very close to a phrase for good luck, and they sell like hot cakes with literally  dozens upon dozens of flavors. Money talks in the capitilist world, not fairness. Maybe not fair or right, but right and fair doesn't buy your next million dollar home, or a swiming pool. I don't think its right really, but hell just let each region have its own companies and such, its own markets, thats one thing I always found worrying about the net, in more recent times its global, back in the day well you didn't see anyone outside of a national forum or such.

Various cultures and standards of living for the first time have face to face contact that allows rudeness via seperation. Its Naive to think it will be hunky doory and not cause trouble, be it civil strife or threat of the status qoue. The Net will sooner or later be curtailed, why I enjoy it while I can. Various problems around the world have been delt with by limiting the net. Whole areas around the globe are in backout, if the status quo of a western goverment were threatend I'ld bet my life we'ld respond the same as in the middle east, we even in the US have plans to do such.

But don't feel bad our dollar is falling which has more to do with our countries screw ups with outsourcing and attempting to switch to a whole new economic model, more so than any other nations economy actully improving. Well Short of the Germans, Japanese, and Chinese. Other than that other currencies are rising not on there own merits, but as Uncle Sam is too busy punching himself in the nads. Though look on the brightside In the United States at the end of 2001, 10% of the population owned 71% of the wealth and the top 1% owned 38%. On the other hand, the bottom 40% owned less than 1% of the nation's wealth, since then that has gotten worse as in more wealth in the top 1-10%.

Mad, just the stuff that makes me rant like the above, or the fact things are as such to make me rant.

Peeved: just learnt that the already excessive amount of TV advertising that we "enjoy" is going to be almost doubled during films and dramas, and that the ban on product placement is going to be lifted.  As if we don't have to endure enough ads already.

Happy: another reason to not waste time watching crap on the telly, and another reason to bin our "no value for money at all" Sky subscription.

Do explain. Its my belief that the amount of gun crime in america is down to the excessive amount of comercials in their tv shows. You ever tried watching american sports or anything broadcast from over there? If I was interrupted that many times and had a gun handy I'd be going on a shooting spree myself.

There used to be a maximum permissable 7 minutes of ads during films and dramas spread out over two ad breaks; they're doing a "one year trial" where the amount of ads they can show is being increased to 12 minutes, albeit still over two intermissions.  I'm not sure what's worse, more ad breaks or the same number of very long breaks.

Though I still think that the worst thing is being utterly spammed to death with ads on Sky's ludicrously expensive subscription service: I thought the idea of ads is that they brought in revenue when there weren't any subscribers.  It's not like Sky spends a fortune on producing or buying quality programmes anyway.  Talking of which, Ofcom reckons that the extra revenue from more advertising will be spent on higher quality programmes.  I expect they also believe that the moon is made of cheese and that the world is goverened by the tooth fairy.

I understand that in spite of how crap TV has become in the UK, you're right that it's even worse in the US.  And I think your theory that it's responsible for people going nuts is a reasonable one: you can't cause that amount of agitation and aggravation without something breaking!

Funny how UK TV had a reputation for being "better" at some point in the past, so to make things more level they've made it worse in line with the less desirable elements of US broadcasting.  Ads are also more annoying these days, too: I remember a time when they were often entertaining and funny, whereas now it's just wall-to-wall ads with some boorish git yelling at you at about a billion times the volume of the surrounding programme to go and sue somebody because you stabbed yourself in the face with a gardening implement.

the quality of tv in ireland has actually picked up a lot in the last year, there's a couple of funny adds on, and a great history programme that uses especially made, and absolutely gorgeous, wood-carved art to illustrate the past, instead of those awful reconstructions,

but yeh, there's a definite downside - today i got RIPPED OFF by a post production company in dublin who charged me 100 euro (i had to talk them down from 135) to make three 10 minute blu-ray copies of my short film, (a blu-ray burner costs about 130), and then had the cheek to plaster their advertising all over the finished discs,

facing a festival deadline i had to just take it, in the ass. mother****ers.

christ i feel abused.

I can't handle more ads. The ones that are already on enrage me enough, if I ever see that Day V Lately scumbag in the streets I'm going to beat him to death while screaming "DAY V LATELY!!!" at him over and over. Or celebrities that I can't stand trying to convince me that life is wonderful and all rooms should be completely white and that they really enjoy nintendo products. I'm on the border of Northern Ireland and The Republic so I get the best of both worlds, with all the UK and Irish channels. Theres not a whole lot of difference to be honest. Also reminds me I need to phone Sky because my bill has gotten ridiculous.

Back on topic...

Pissed off: Vometia's tv related news combined with the pointless endeavour of job hunting.

Happy: Nothings gone horribly wrong yet today.
