I've seen a lot of questions about how to replace companion's faces,  including problems like disappearing heads. So, of course, I write a tutorial.

 Here, what you have to do is this.
If you wish to replace a companion's head, you'll have to first create a .mrh/.mor file in the toolset. Or download an existing .mrh file. Either way you'll have to open the .mrh file in the toolset. Open Single Player module with the .mrh file open. You should be looking in to a face. Click the red bar that says read only copy if it's their--right click and choose check in. If the bar is green, don't worry about it. First generate manifest xml and module xml (tools > export > generate manifest xml) (tools > export > generate module xml). This will allow you to select (tools > Post to Local). Once you've done this, look on the bottom at the developer log, or the text at the very bottom where it says log window. You should see something along the lines of
S: 23:40:15 - Export Summary, 1 Requested, 1 Success, 0 Skipped, 0 Failed.
Poke around for the export directory of the .mor file.
Example:
I: 23:40:15 - Successfully exported C:\\Users\\Randall\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\override\\toolsetexport\\em_bec100_alarith.mor.
Go to said directory. Copy the .mor file and paste to \\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\modules\\Single Player\\override, renaming it according to the companion you wish to replace. Unless you did something wrong, your beautiful creation (or abomination) is now in game--no need for complicated lines of code or more fuss, or anything. Boot up DA and test. Stir and enjoy warm.
Note: When using cross-race or cross-gender remodeling, you'll have to use the console to fix anything weird (i.e. a shrunken head of an elf female on the body of a dwarven female). If you don't have the console activated get ready for some more drudgery.

Make a shortcut to your "daorigins.exe" file (typically located in C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship folder) on your desktop or Start Menu. Right click on shortcut, choose properties, then add the line in the *Target* field "-enabledeveloperconsole" (without the quotes) to the end of the shortcut and it should look something like:"C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsoleBe sure that there is a single space between the last quotation mark and the -.If you have the Steam version, go to your My Games tab and right-click on Dragon Age: Origins. In the General tab you will see a "Set launch options..." button. Click on it and add "-enabledeveloperconsole" (without quotes) to the start options field.Another option is to edit the file data\\DAOriginsLauncher.xml. This will allow you to run the game from it's normal shortcut but requires you to edit a game file which should be done carefully and not before taking a backup of the file. Find the line "<condition name="FirstRunCheck" type="FileExist" file="${USERDATA_DIR}\\SystemInformation.xml">". The line below should be something like this. "<true action="execute" file="${BINARIES_DIR}\\DAOrigins.exe" path="${BINARIES_DIR}" autoquit="true" />"Add an attribute arguments="-enabledeveloperconsole" to it makeing it read <true action="execute" file="${BINARIES_DIR}\\DAOrigins.exe" path="${BINARIES_DIR}" autoquit="true" arguments="-enabledeveloperconsole"/>
Open the file "\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\KeyBindings.ini" in your My Documents folder. Find the line that says "OpenConsole_0" and change the value after the equals sign (=) to "Keyboard::Button_Tilde". To open the console after running the game, press the ~ button in the top left corner of your keyboard. You can also leave it as "Keyboard::Button_Grave" and then use the "backtick" character, which is located under the tilde. Some people have reported issues using tilde as the console key.Note that adding this line to the shortcut created when you install which links to dalauncher.exe WILL NOT WORK. Also note that you will not be able to see the console, but you can tell that it is open because keys you normally can use as shortcuts to commands will no longer work (C for Character Record, etc). While the key for calling the console is relative to the US-international (qwerty) keyboard layout, the text you type in the console is relative to your local keyboard layout. If you have i.e. a belgian azerty keyboard you needn't type "runscript ww°,oney" (runscript zz_money) but the code as in the list below will suffice.If you are still having problems, it may be necessary to run the shortcut as an administrator. Right-click the shortcut and choose "Run as administrator". You can also edit the shortcut. Right-click the shortcut and choose "Properties". Under the "Shortcut" tab, click the "Advanced" button. Check the option to "Run as administrator".---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once that's done you can run several scripts to fix appearance.

WHILE THE PARTY MEMBER WITH THE SHRUNKEN HEAD OR WHATEVER IS SELECTED--this is important as you (probably) don't want to change your other party members. runscript appearance #

Replace # with the body you desire. While it may be tempting to use the body of another race (i heard human heads floating above dwarf bodies are in style now), it may be best not to, as there may be decidedly unfashionable bugs and glitches that may be very hard to fix.

Anyways, there are many, many more than these, but these three are the ones you'll probably need. More can be found at http://dragonage.wik...om/wiki/Console

Elf = 2
Dwarf=3
Human=15
Undo changes=-1For example, if I wanted to change alistair, a human's, face to that of an elf, i would first press ` to access console, then type in            runscript appearance 2

Sorry for the lack of pictures. I hope this helps but if I made a mistake please tell!
