I charge it, and it never gets a shot off at me (Youtube Link)

I'd seen a few of those "charge the colossus" vids on youtube, showing how awesome a vanguard can be. I decided to try it myself, but the very first time I attempted it, I found this glitch. I think the key is in the initial charge from the top of the stairs before you get to Kal'Reegar.

Anyway, thought it was pretty neat and warranted a bit of documentation.

ok thats .. weird... I am wondering why you hotkeyed charge but choose to use the tactical overlay to select it. Theres also 2 ways of knowing when the thing is off cooldown, so you going in 2 or 3 times while it was still cooling wasa bit odd too

Maybe its head doesn't tilt all the way down. That would explain everything!



Also, that Colossus clearly didn't have any idea what to do past you getting right on top of it.

the game automatically keys chargeand my other powers, i pretty much always use the tactical overlay for all powers. i jump the gun a few times out of nerves - my back is to the geth, garrus just died, i'm standing in the open, and this IS insanity. a few concentrated volleys is enough to take me out.

and yeah, i think the Colossus is pretty confused - first i'm charging him, then i'm BACK in a cutscene, then i'm charging him again. i think his targeting is messed up.

too bad this can be done with the colossus actually shooting at you as well as 1-2 additional geth shooting at u aswell...

You need a pinch of luck for that tho. If he opens with his machine super gun, you are toast. Ive tried like 10 times in a row, and for some reason the guy always uses only his machine gun, and not his cannon, so all i do is die in 2 seconds

You just have to keep circling to keep him from using the chain gun.



This vids nothing new. A lot of us have done it with the Colossus firing. I've done it multiple times and I have to say that the weapon choice and tactics here were pretty abysmal.



Tempest or Scimitar would have chewed through layer one a hell of a lot faster and Carnifex or Eviscerator would have torn through the armor. The good part about the Carnifex w/ Inferno rounds against the armor is that 6 shots is approximately how long it takes for Charge to come back. You can launch into Charge and do the reload cancel trick while the hand cannon is reloaded.



Locust is a great gun, just not for point blank shield stripping.

Ive tried circling. HE guy opens with that gun the second i come out of charge

not luck there you just need to get behind it after a charge.  if you get behind him he breaks the machine gun fire to turn around.  If you just stand there and  dont circle  strafe him your going to lose most of the time.

Well like i said, for some reason he always opens up with it directly. I know i should get in his back. I`ll just try a few more times for fun. maybe im just picking a bad time to charge

uhhh, you're missing the point. i was fully prepared to try with my Eviscerator at the ready, and the first time i did use it. this video is just showing that if you charge from the top of the stairs before Reegar's cutscene, the AI for the Colossus is completely shut down.

hence why i was able to use the most unsuitable weapons and the lamest tactics - just adding insult to injury.

it's a glitch vid, not a "look how quadsy this is" vid.

And your proof for that being the cause?  

The entire game has its fair share of bugs and glitches that happen quite at random.  Doing absolutely nothing special, I've had the Eclipse Gunship on Illium go hay-wire, had the Thresher Maw seemingly keep shooting at a dead teammate and Krogan who have simply stood in place without reacting to bullets.  

Have you tried to replicate this experience?  What logic is there for the Charge being the catalyst?

I'm not saying it isn't, I'm just wondering if you're able to show if that was definitely the cause.

i've done it multiple times - i'm 100% sure that the charge at the top of the stairs is the cause of the glitch. try it yourself!

i think it's Colossi and ye know... its still a robot
