Anyone else not care about how nice they look?

Are there allot of role playing gamers who rather than play sports like to design and sew together the sports teams kit? (with shoulder pads and extra tight shorts) or did they really enjoy and miss the days of dressing dolls at play school?
When I am living in my armour for weeks at a time and getting covered in brood mother goo, why do I need to make sure my boots and gloves match?

But I am playing a game, and as such I want to be immersed. The appearance has to be immersive, not necessarily beautiful.
For some, immersion means that their warrior is a beautiful amazon, or a fashionably-clad pretty boy.
Look at what Morrigan's wearing. Bioware disagrees with you.

On the other hand, the way your character looks can be very important if you want to immerse yourself in the game and enjoy any subsequent playthroughs.

I agree with actually, my point is that there's a big difference between becoming immersed because your character is apposite and becoming obsessed over whether the sword matches the armour.miltos33 wrote...

But it is a personal thing, IRL I would go for functional and potentially slightly tatty over chromed and shiny and a bit in your face...

Take a look around in-game, is there any npc NOT matching? It's not even about being pretty as much as it is just not looking like the single idiot in the game (or just in general). Hell there aren't even a lot of armor sets available in game, so why not at least wear a matching set? I'm pretty sure this is considered normal, accepted behavior and does not label one fashion-sensitive and require sending off to the nearest beauty school.
Nothing wrong with a high standard of practicality if that's what you're aiming for in your character, but that doesn't make people who decide to put on all three pieces of the warden commander set (since you know, it was made to be worn together like that) "doll dressers".

Still room for mixing up tho, rouges seems to have alot more radome nice items & mages its only realy the War's that have realy nice sets.
Lel in Shadow of the Empire is nice BTW get some leg flesh showing but I still tend to find parts that match its color look best I can.
In DAA I use wades(meduim) & corruption helm(massive) spec wise its awsome set but also a perfect looking match color & size odd that. I dont like the way tho that dragon**** armor is all the same color even the cloth bits is very silly.

So, you're saying that there is something wrong with having a matching armor set? You would have your character wear warden commander armor, legion of the dead gloves, blood dragon plate boots, and a juggernaut helm? If so, well you look ridiculous (like a walking lost and found), but ok.

Not quite sure who you're replying to here, but if it's me then I think you need to re-read my posts because you are flagrantly misinterpreting me.Reyno411 wrote...

I can say when I choose gear, yes, I'm almost always looking at the stats & properties, not the appearance. I never get matching set bonuses because there's usually something in the set that's crap (often the boots or the gloves) and so I never wear the whole set (even if it's also supposed to look "cooler" if you do). Yes I suppose not wearing sets sometimes makes chars look like mismatched max but I don't care.
I'd like cloaks in the game, not to look at, but just to have one more type of wearable gear.
Different strokes for different folks. That's the great thing about moddability. You mod your game the way you want to.
That said, I think when the appearance of items is "glitched" and looks wrong for that reason, it's still something they should fix. Come on items should not be inside out or upside down or have the wrong appearance. It wouldn't be my highest priority -- if the choice was down to having to choose whether to fix a stat bug or an appearance glitch I'd do the stat bug first -- but again that's me. Really, they should fix both.

To each his own my friend.
I cheat, stats mean nothing to me. I play for the story and role playing factor with dragon age, nothing more nothing less.

Said armor also needs to match the disposition and style of the wearer, as well as the class. So, no Circle style robes for Morrigan, no Tevinter style robes for Wynne.
I do care more about RP than gameplay, so, I do attach a certain amount of importance to appearance. I'm less concerned about how god-like I can build. I'm more interested in how well disbelief can be suspended.

I'm with you. As long as the game allows me some suspension of disbelief and some really cool armor sets, I'm going to go with the sets. I try very much to get into the story of the game as much as it will allow. With weapons I'm alittle differant. Vigilance and Dumat's Spine all the way. I know there are probly statisticly better weapons in the game, but I wanted to use Dumat's Spine and my main off hand weapon.
