Just wondering.

Is there more than one role for Conrad Verner in ME2?

In ME1 I took the Paragon side when I met Conrad. But  when I met Conrad in ME2, he was a mess. He behaved as if I had taken the renagade side in ME1.

That's why I'm wondering. Is there 2 possible reactions for Conrad in ME2 based on my behaviour to him in ME1?

Thanks

He always thinks you held a gun in his face in ME1 no matter what you did

Conrad's douche baggery is apparent in ME2 regardless of what you do in ME1. The man is N-U-T-S! Nuts! Nuts! Nuts!

I love the look on his face and tone of voice when he says "really?" If you do the paragon option after you talk to the weapons vendor.

Conrad needs to die in every playthrough of ME2 of every copy that has been sold!

i like the "shoot him in the foot" option the best. he's all whiny, but forgives you immediately. it's like his idol can do no wrong. :D

also, shepard sounds super bad-ass when he says "THIS. IS NOT. ACCEPTABLE.

I remember seeing in another thread that no matter how you responded to Conrad in ME1, he always acted as if you had chosen a renegade option in ME2.  So I was messing with the Gibbed save game editor and noticed that even though I was careful in ME1 to choose all of the "polite" / paragon responses, there is a box checked off that indicates that I responded w/ a renegade action in ME1.  A minor bug/oversight perhaps...?? Image IPB

Anyway, on my current playthrough, I "unchecked" that option using the editor.  Anyone try that and see if makes any difference?  I'm one mission short of heading in his direction to see if his "insanity" is any different.

But then again, it could blow up the game.  I mean that means he'll probably have spent more time w/ his wife. Image IPB The woman will probably be soooo ticked that she'll get her virtual revenge by ensuring my Sheppard becomes Collector goo or some such thing.

Yeah, everyone mentions the fabled "intimidate Conrad" option being checked in the save editor.

When people try to uncheck it there is no change, Sparhawk. We're stuck with the glitch, apparently. Bit of bad programming. But you can go ahead and try.

Glitch, isn't it?

Still, the guy's a nutjob. It's kinda funny to think he'd make up the Renegade scenario just to justify his crusade and happy his wife most likely was when he left to "fight the good fight".

I had mentioned there that there is no glitch.  People just can't seem to understand that Conrad was only acting out as a bad*** , He wasn't accusing Shepard of anything.  The real problem that might exist was that the paragon opt. in
ME1 was supose to get Conrad killed.   Someone mentioned that during an elevator ride there was a news report stating that he was attacked and killed.   I don't Know what BW was thinking there, or if there was any thought at all
but there it is.
In ME2 Conrad is alive and well, still the moron, trying to stop the big bad red sand dealer.

Well that explains it then. Poor Conrad. Probably knocked around when he was a kid. Ignored by his parents. Just wanted to make a difference and be noticed for a change.

Hey! How would cool this be? In ME3, you, by chance, cross paths with Conrad again. Again, you feel sorry for the shmuck. But this time, just to make him feel a little better about himself, you take him up on his offer to join your crew, for only a week, for a special, top secret, mission(something easy).

But the easy mission goes sour when the crew is suddenly attacked by hords of Geth. Turns out, Conrad saves everyones lives and is the baddest mofo you ever had witnessed or even heard of! He just didn't realize his true potential until Shepard made him part of a mission.

After the mission, Shepard asks Conrad if he would like to become a full time member of the crew. In response, Conrad thanks Shepard earnestly for giving him a chance, but reminds him of his wife and children back home, and watching the home front. Cool huh?

Yes, I know I'm no writer. lol Just thought that would be cool.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies. Now I don't have to go back and play ME1 again just to make sure I used the paragon options.

Its a glitch, if you charmed him in ME1 the game would have it where he sends you a message thanking you, but the glitch makes it where he was intimidated if you charmed him, I went paragon with him again though. Mainly because of the guilt I would get for having him killed because he's too much of a nice guy to be getting shot at.

No.

If this were not a glitch, and Conrad was just a nutjob, the scene would've played out like this.

"Commander Shepard! Remember me? You shoved a gun in my face!"

[Dialogue wheel option: "What?" - select]

Shepard: "Conrad, what the hell are you talking about? I did no such thing. You're lying. Are you feeling okay?"

But no. No, this isn't how it plays out at all. Instead our Shepard acts like this is exactly what happened. Even goes so far as to say, "Conrad, why are you acting like me?"

Not to mention how perfectly convenient and coincidental it is that Conrad's nutjob story specifically describes and responds to Shepard's renegade option for that quest, even if you never chose it.

Disagree.

Is it possible for him to get killed in ME1? I forget. At any rate, in the default setup in ME2, he doesn't seem to exist.

Although it was mentioned, i really don't think he can die in ME1.   You visit him three times, and i tried the elevator rides someone had mentioned and there was nothing about Conrad

Poor, poor Nightwriter,  still don't get it?   lol
Shepard does respond with : Get lost, kick, or shoot foot
I'm sorry you missed the boat, jumped or fell out of
The whole scene spells it out, it is pretty clear, Conrad was acting the bad*** in front of the bartending matriarch
Shepard doesn't need to respond to that.  He/She is well aware of the whole Conrad business even if you totally don't get it. Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB  lol

Lets face it, if Mass Effect was real, there would be a few Conrads in these Forums lol.
