The Child(End Game)

I'm not sure if this changes in any of the variations, but Morrigan explicitly states that the main character can never see the child. Without looking too deeply into her motives, one of the reasons could be that the Main character or Alistair could potentially corrupt the child through the taint gained via the Joining. Essentially she could have left to make sure that doesn't happen and would have a valid reason for vanishing regardless of the player's status with her.
Thoughts?

Interesting--no where near endgame but I'm wondering what would happen if I just park Morrigan and don't play her? Will she still advance in the game? Or is this something that happens no matter what? Never played NWN or Baldur's Gate so not really familiar with how these things work in a game like this.....
it happens no matter what because i didnt use her at all besides in lothering... they do give you the option to tell her to get lost when she brings it up though, and instead of having the demon baby thing play out she disappears into the mountains

It was my understanding that the child would serve a similar function as a gray warden, the archdemon would jump to its body and be destroyed since it has a soul. Somewhere in there instead of dying the child is born with some measure of old god powers as part of whatever preparations she made I'm assuming. Morrigan seemed to have a pretty good understanding of how Flemeth kept her youth with children, so it seems logical to me that Morrigan's motivations lay somewhere in that knowledge. If at some point she is able to inhabit the body of that child its possible that she would be able to tap into that old god power.
That is a very likely possibility, though after reading the Grimore she states that Flemeth's method for immortality isn't useful unless you are Flemeth -- because her spirit is immortal due to being an Abomination she just needs new bodies. Morrigan could have been lying though. It is pretty logical to assume that originally Flemeth wanted to take Morrigan's body until it aged to the point she needed the child's body.
Examining Morrigan's reasons for actually wanting the child. I remember certain points in which she talks about preserving traditions. One if you ask about her shapeshifting in camp, another if you bring her to the Anvil of the Void (She doesn't support destroying it), and the conversation she has when she brings up the ritual. She could be interpreted as not really seeing the need to get rid of something old and powerful just because someone can use it for evil -- like mages misuse Blood magic or the Dwaves abused the Anvil of the Void's powers.

If you are going to sacrifice yourself To Save The World and she is so obviosuly evil that she wants to bring forth a demon spawn, why isn't there the option to run her through, or stick an axe in her face?
Well it isn't explicitly gonig to be a 'demon spawn' and in fact if you ask her if the child will be evil she says the taint will have been cleansed from the soul and the original old god, not the blighted version that became the archdemon is what will be in the child. Now that doesn't mean she isn't full of it, I figure you can take whatever Morrigan says with a grain of salt... more or less everything about her is shady
