Its pretty obvious (I think) we're going to be going to Earth in ME3 at some point and I'm looking forward to that. But please don't make it New York. I feel like I live there due to the amount of films and games (especially science fiction) that are set there.

The writers and designers obviously have more imagination than that so hopefully we go somewhere a bit less familiar.

Do they even say where the capital of the alliance is? The impression i got was that the alliance is more like the UN and handles all the space based **** regarding humans while Earth is still divided into nations.

I don't want to go somewhere obvious. I don't want to go to obvious places like New York, Washington, London, Paris or any major famous cities.

I want to go somewhere unexpected/small in this time but becomes the high tech city, central hub for everything like Napal or Niagra falls, I can imagine a city rising up from the centre of the falls and things coming in an out of the waterfalls as the water powers the city.

If not New York, it would have to be someplace people recognize, or someplace new altogether.

How about a gas station out in the middle of the desert in Nevada? You could interact with five different people!

The capital of the Systems Alliance is Arcturus station. While technically Earth (and also most other human colonized planets) is still ruled by independent Sovereign nations whom the Alliance has no official authority over, the Alliance is clearly the most powerful human political body and wields far more influence than any nation does.

That said, I think if we go to Earth we should go to some completely made up city that has become important by 2183 but doesn't actually exist in 2010. If we go to Earth at all.

The world does not consist only of america. Not to mention projected 200 years into the future, the major scientific and economic super power would be in Africa.

So my vote for somewhere in Africa

If by "Africa" you mean "Asia", then you would be correct.
