Who says NY is still there? Actually, if you went in depth into kasumi's DLC, you got a little bit of info about Earth's more recent escapades. Civil war, desecration of the statue of liberty, and lots of other goodies. Who says some of these places are still there after all those years?

The statue of Liberty was rebuilt.......

If Canada's still around I say that we should be able to visit there. Bioware needs to throw us a bone once in a while.

You really think that it is going to look the same in several centuries? That it will even have the same iconic status?

According to the Kasumi DLC, Canada was absorbed by the US, so...

I agree. Nothing against the Big Apple, but why not some other equally iconic city? Rome for example... with the history and the ruins? What about Ciaro? The vast deserts in Africa would be a great place to launch space craft. Tokyo would be another nice one with the dense urban feel of the city it has been the center of many cyber punk settings. Or how about a true left field hit: Istanbul. HUGE, ancient city. With enough history and foriegnness to make it a truly exotic locale...

McMurdo Station or some other place in Antarctica and only for a short visit. I don't want a main hub to be on earth, i'd prefer the whole exploring the galaxy thing. Lets go to Arcturus Station or someplace interesting thats in space.

Still, at least we'd finally be able to participate in community contests.

That could very well be where you go on at least one mission, maybe if you could get to choose whether to help your old gang or help law enforcement.
I vote for somewhere in Iran or Iraq aka the fertile crescent aka the birthplace of civilization.
You'll finally be able to use those WMDs they never did find XD

If by "Africa" you mean "Asia", then you would be correct.

No, Asia will be the super power for the next 100-150 years. Then it will be Africa. Possibly South America will be somewhere in there as well.

For Africa a possible spot for a visit would be Ethopia, the excavation of Lucy's fossils

Now, the reason China is supposed to be the next global supepower is because of clearly observable current trends in the country's economic development.

Africa is a hotbed of political instability full of more broken governments than I can enumerate off the top of my head. Where is the evidence that any of them is going to become a superpower? You haven't got anything backing up your claim.

Simple history and economics.

Asia is the next super power due to the infrastructure AND education levels reaching levels that are sufficient. This is also linked to the reduced educational level in the fields of science and maths in the prior powers, both required for engineering/medical R&D. The 3rd factor is the low comparative cost which creates a large incentive to for good qualifications in those fields. "Hunger" would be a description for the psychological response. The final factor is a viable supply of non labor resources. 100% resource fufilment is not required but the resources must be sufficient to kick start the process

Replicating europe and america's history, this should be repeated by asia in another ~120 years.

Forgot the conclusion. This points to the next undeveloped area as one that will rise as africa. South america is interesting as they have a green revolution but stalled from there.

Nah, both China and India (the emerging leaders) have about 20-30 years before full internal collapse. Their GDP cannot withstand such a high population growth rate.

Its pretty obvious (I think) we're going to be going to Earth in ME3 at some point and I'm looking forward to that. But please don't make it New York. I feel like I live there due to the amount of films and games (especially science fiction) that are set there.

The writers and designers obviously have more imagination than that so hopefully we go somewhere a bit less familiar.

don't be bias because NY has been many times in background, it doesn't mean that the city should be settling for this game again. NY is not a biggest city in the world in terms of economy or life. there are still 10 more cities which are bigger than NY in the list. I know that this game is made by Canadian based company. so who knows? nobody knows. or they will use unknown totally creative urban set for ME3 if they want to do.

But in all seriousness, if any city, they should visit some ancient city like Greece or Rome and discover some bizarre connection between humans and protheans. But I would prefer to stay away from NY.

Probably not. But then again no other city will either. If anything New York stands a better chance at keeping it's iconic status into the future than other cities. Choosing the most iconic city in the present day would be more logical than just picking out a city at random for no apparent reason, e.g. Beijing.

Ugh. Let me guess, you're American aren't you? Ever heard of the Alliance?

This may be surprise to you, but being your president doesn't make him head of all human political powers you know.

Well, I'm not saying that NYC isn't THE MOST iconic and all, but Beijing is arguably one of the most iconic cities in Asia. And to say that it isn't iconic would be ignorant... (not that I'm suggesting you are).

I'd love to see a montage of all the iconic cities in the world, even in a cinematic cutscene. Tokyo, Paris, London... and see all the landmarks. That'd be cool, if somewhat unoriginal.

PS: Beijing is one of my least cities in the world, but being Chinese I'd naturally love to see what Beijing looks like in 200 years.
