If you like Buckethead, check out Paul Gilbert.  Gilbert was Buckethead's teacher.  You can hear a lot of Gilbert's influence on Buckethead's compositions.  Buckethead is more avant garde while Gilbert is more classic rock.

I'm really not a fan of Paul Gilbert. His technique is god-like, and he's probably the nicest super-star personality I've seen, no doubt about that - but like Malsteem his music just doesn't speak to me.

Ugh, yeah I definitely agree with you on Malmsteen.  He's possibly the best technical electric guitarist on the planet but his compositions just sound more like a demonstration rather than a song.

Gilbert isn't for everyone though (no guitarist is, really).  While Buckethead sounds interesting, sometimes I find his songs lack depth or breadth of other guitarists, but he's still among one of my favorites.

Eric Clapton, although I'm not into blues much but BB King always catches my attention

That's funny actually. I'm not a fan of Gilbert because his music never really caught my attention - similarly, seeming rather plain and uninventive, though I'm talking about the instrumentals here. I really dislike his singing voice so I tend to avoid those tracks. Silence followed by a Deafening Roar is probably my favourite of all his albums. With Buckethead it's really a love/hate relationship. A lot of his albums I can't listen to because of how dominated by noise and sound clips they are. While I really appretiate his Avant Garde approach, I also like musicality in my music so his shreds aren't on my top-played lists. What I do love of him though, I love with such an unbelievable passion it's almost hard to describe.
