Ok, so in the hopes of seeing things I'd like to know, I'll start. Why does Duncan come to Highever to try and recruit my HNF Lya? Note, lots of RP choices here, but that should be true of all origins.

She is a Cousland, a noble family known for being very dutiful and loyal. These are traits one looks for in a Grey Warden. She has been given training necessary to run a teyrnir, as well as having been trained as a warrior. So she knows about leading and commanding men and troops, in addition for knowing how to fight. She is educated and intelligent. Once he is in Highever, he might have learned that Bryce may favor her to take control of the teyrnir, which might make his job recruiting more difficult, but also showing how skilled and talented she really is.

Once he meets her, she has a great deal of respect for the order and expresses genuine interest in becoming a Grey Warden. Bryce shuts down the possibility of recruitment at that moment, but Duncan would probably know that he could convince Bryce at a later date to recruit her. Once Howe attacks, she proves her worth by remaining calm and collected, and getting her mother to safety. Once they find her father, she ackowledges her duty, though she wants to get revenge, and goes with Duncan willingly. Duncan has now just acquired the second highest noble in the land, young, charismatic, intelligent, capable, as a willing member of the order. She would be a valuable asset both on the battlefield and off.

Now, if you would indulge me, I'd love to hear why Duncan recruited you. ^_^

My human mage had a re-known reputation at the tower. There were many stories about him magical prowess and his charm and cunning. But nobody knew who his parents were, or where he was from, not even the templars. Why? Because a cloaked woman brought the the mage as a 2 year old infant to the tower in the middle of the night. She put him in the arms of the templars guarding the tower and told them to watch him, always watch him. The templar looked down upon him, and was stunned at how his eyes were a glittering amber color, and the ornate tattoo on the left side of his face.

As he grew older, the young mage quickly mastered many arts of magic, exceeding the skills of his peers. And was training with Senior Mages as a young teenager. His harrowing was flawless, one of the quickest to ever take place. Irving spoke highly of the mage to Duncan, talking about his extraordinary skills in magic and his very high level of intelligence that he had, and a certain...aura of inspiration the other mages felt when around him. Duncan rescued him from the Chantry when the mage was caught trying to help his friend escape the tower, and escape himself. Duncan valued friendship, and a person who would do anything for a friend. He also wanted a powerful mage in the Grey Wardens, as there were so few. Little did Duncan know that the mage would come to alter the fate of Ferelden, by uniting the forces of Ferelden and leading the charge against the Archdemonand changing the worlds of those around him. But little did he also know that the mage would make one of the most controversial decisions ever....by accepting the dark offer of his love, Morrigan.

Lol, mine too. Except in my character's case, he didn't have a tattoo or amber eyes, but he did have a suspicious claw mark scar on his face that never healed.
