So my main is Sword & Shield. I have strength 34 and have some of the shield attributes. I equiped the big battle axe from the Ruined Temple guy and I have 1 two handed attributed the power swing or whatever. I am wondering if I should do more two handed or jus continue with the sword and shield. I do not remember now how much damage I could do with sword &shield but I did notice with the battle axe I can do 56 damage but my swing is somewhat slow.
Originally I preferred sword & shield b/c of the protection and I noticed with sten until I leveled him up more he took A LOT of damage. Incidently I lost Sten at Haven b/c I said make your own choice.
What does everyone prefer and why?

You should pick one route for each character and stick with it. If you have all of your skills in one "tree", then you'll be able to use all of them. The passive ones which are always active won't work if you're using the wrong weapon, and the active ones you won't be able to use.
I found two handed to be a little bit too slow for me, and I prefered the defensive option of the shield.
You should try to keep shield wall on all the time on your warrior, and focus on dexterity once you have his strength high enough to wear massive armour. Really what you want him to do is stand still while the enemies fail to beat him up, that leaves your damage dealers free to kill things.
