If you really look at things objectively this is an acceptable option.  Do you really think Shepard would have these people followng him around when they could be out preparing for the final battle while he is taking care of whatever quest he is on.  Tali could be getting the fleet in order if you didn't get her exiled.  Mordin could be working with the STG.  Grunt could be training "The Lance".  Samara and Thane only signed up for the suicide mission.  Miranda could very well take over Cerberus.
So I say mostly new team with cameos from the ol;d team.

So you want it to be just like from ME 1 to ME 2?

Sure

Not exactly.  in 1 to 2 everyone lost contact with Shepard.  In 3 everyone is working with or for Shepard to prepare, just not latched onto him as squaddies.

That would be a waste of combat utility.  Everyone has their roles and those that have signed on with Shepard did so for a reason.

Now that the Suicide mission is complete, there are better uses for the best and brightest in the galaxy.  Heck they could actually still be temporary squaddies if they survived, but the main squad should be either new or customizable. Image IPB

So we should have people who are not the best or brightest going into the final mission that determines the fate of the galaxy? WHAT?

i'd prefer mostly familiar faces in my squad for me3. i wouldn't mind some new guys but it seems like i'd be sitting my starters in the fourth quarter in a tie game.

I second this, but add a "f*ckn" between "you" and "go." The earth would shake from the angry mob that would form if you had a whole new squad for ME3, and I would be part of that angry mob.

I never said disband them.  I said having them do parallel work to the main goal.  They don't need Shepard to babysit them to prepare for the reapers.

In ME1 and ME2 Shepard's small squad was really the only thing that made sure the Reapers and Collectors didn't win. They're tried and true, and this is the last game. Bring them back.

If they are dead, it's your fault; besides, having the best with Shepard facilititates better results.

I figure since the WHOLE storyboard of ME2 was...

"Recruit this guy, Recruit that guy, recruit this gal, recruit that gal, recruit that krogan ubermensch, recruit the robot, make this guy like me, make that gal like me, make robot like me, kill collectors, tally survivors, **** out TIM, feed fish, prepare for Reaper invasion."

I'd imagine they are going to be in ME3, because it would really be out of place to just suddenly recruit new "best fighters the galaxy has to offer".

...it would make more sense that the ME2 squaddies are also the ME3 Squaddies. At least most of them.

Also, It would make it that much more "LOL" when the people who let everyone die in ME2 get their asses handed to them because they aren't in ME3. I mean, hasn't BioWare been trying to push the whole "huge decisions that impact the sequel" things?

Binary has a great point. Let's not go through ANOTHER game where we are recruiting some of the best specialists for the mission. We already have a lot. Add the ME1 LIs and we're good to go.

Yea, let's recruit such a badass team of specialists and then disband them all when the Reapers, the greatest threat to the galaxy, is the enemy. wat

Lol exactly.

Shepard: "We have the most elite squad ever organized to take on the reapers and whatever minions they throw at us. So lets all just go our seperate ways because some ****** wants new squadmates for ME3 even though it makes no f*cking sense."

Plus I'm sick of recruiting people. Enough recruiting damnit!

After the suicide mission I personally would send Tali and Legion to get the flotilla and the Geth ready for the reapers, Mordin to the STG, Grunt to Tuchanka, Miranda and Jack to get rid of TIM, etc.
Meanwhile I'd run around being diplomatic and look for new allies for the fight.  Image IPB

i could see why Miranda, Jacob, Garrus, Mordin, Samara, Thane, Tali, Legion, and Zaeed would stick around
Grunt, maybe not, although i loved having him on my squad
(Jack got killed on my first run through)

that being said, i would like to keep this group intact and maybe add a couple of people here and there. i loved the idea that your whole crew at the end were all fighting and split up into different teams

But why doesn't Shepard, being the most charismatic person in the galaxy, go with his/her squaddies on said diplomatic missions? Kills two birds with one stone. I'd much rather be there for the Quarian-Geth first contact, TIM's dethroning, and whatever the hell Grunt's doing. That stuff sounds interesting.

No! They must all return as squadmates. Samara included. Don't tell me she only signed on to destroy the Collectors. She is a Justicar and there is no greater threat to innocent life than the Reapers. If she left that would make no sense.

It would probably be better if Shepard made a new team for the reaper assault while the surviving team from ME2 ran around on seperate but equally important quests.  That way they can have epic cameos in the final battle without draining resources for the main game.  If they died in ME2 then it would be some other character taking their place.

Edited for odd typosImage IPB

DO. NOT. WANT.

I don't think it will be much fun searching for a whole new team and doing a bunch of loyalty missions once again. Been there, done that.

It seems like people think that I meant for them to abandon Shepard like Liara or Ash/Kaiden... That isn't what I am saying.
