...Now that I am done being logical, I have to say... Because he's black? Really? What year is it again?
I apologize, but it had to be said.
The year is 2010 and yet there is a thread floating around called "Things you wished Jacob would have said" or something to that nature. In this thread, 90% of the responses were lines that are seen as "african-american stereotype". Example, one person replied saying that he wished Jacob would have said "Wheres the watermelon, fried chicken, and collard greens?" or something to that nature.
The thread was nothing but a bunch of people releasing their inner thoughts as to what Jacob should have been like or said. I know most of it was jokes, but they were very offensive to me. And you ask what year it is? It is 2010 and yet that "Things you wished Jacob would have said" thread proves that in 2010, we have really gotten nowhere when it comes to dealing with race.
No need to apologize...welcome to North America.
Yeah but the thing is I dont go by the steryotype, and yet most threads I see say I dont understand black guys, so thats a steryotype, booth sides are using steryontypes and both sides should be less ignorant, no its not north america its the internet were being an **** is the popular thing to do, even when people know its bad they still do it to get a few lols from the other idiots. I find it offensive that im a steryotype thats pretty much racist, homophobic idiots. Its 2010 if you think relations havent improved your an idiot.
Alright, I see where you're coming from. Stereotyping, however you want to look at it, exists no matter the era, area you are in, and regardless of race, gender, or age. There is a stereotype for EVERY group out there, and for what it's worth, many people find them to be humorous. Look at famous comedians, example. Carlos Mencia rips on all racial backgrounds, especially his own. The Blue Colar comedians use the 'Redneck' stereotyping. Dave Chapelle also uses race/gender for many of his skits. Now, I'm not saying that I agree with it/ it's right and/or wrong, I'm only tyring to say that is the culture that we live in. And I think that the fact that we
can laugh about it is important, and shows how far we have developed.
Please don't take this as me trying to be rude/argumentative, I am just giving my opinion. And, I know ideas on this subject may be different depending on where and how you grew up.
