Im starting to think alot of male gamers are just jealous of JT's mack skills. I made a femshep because I had to see what the big deal was about JT's romance...and you know what, Shepard was all over him. Now really..who's fault is that. Okay...in real life seduction situations I've never used the prize line when ready to bed a female but I dont really see where the controversy is. All I see are two grown military officers flirting with each other before they do the deed. Different people respond to different seduction techniques....Im really thinking that quite a few gamers on these boards live in a fantasy world when it comes to relationships and have no real experience. Some women actually respond to that kind of flirting .So weepy Thane and awkard Garrus's romances are ok but JT gets trashed...the smoothest of the bunch...get real!

The trashing of it is overblown.  But I still really wish they had animated in some more emotions for him in that scene.

As a woman, I can tell you that it was not smooth, nor skillful, nor a turn on.

It was just stomach turning. Give me Garrus or Thane any day.

As a woman, I would fine that Kaidan, and Carth Thane and Garrus  had a lot more smooth lines than Jacob...... And at least I like Kaidan, and Anderson I see him as a father figure to most of my Shepard's and I am white ...." However Jacob lines in his romance were godawful they were just bleh..............."
Most of the characters I  like are of a diffrent race than me....................

So how is not liking Jacob about his race then? Image IPB

For deep and mysterious reasons that we could not possibly hope to fathom, us poor, lowly racists.

It is not for us to know, oh no, no. All we need to know is that if we thought Jacob was boring we are simply racists. Bad, bad. Bad racists!

If you find Carth more interesting than Jacob then that does raise concerns.

Onyx at least Carth had a freaking back story, and didn't clam up when you talked to him. From what I wacthed on youtube he does seem a lot more intresting than Jacob.

Not necessarily. I don't mind Jacob, in fact, he's an awesome buddy for my SHepards. Romances? Dear god, no. Carth was interesting, but whiny and annoying, and needed to grow the f*ck up.

I agree, but at least he was better than Jacob in my opinon. Image IPB  Thought he does need to grow up a little however....

LOL, if that were true, the only two characters I have hated (which I don't anymore) were Ash and Zaeed, both white.  Yeah, I must be racist, against my own race, lol.

I didn't dislike Jacob because of his race... in fact I didn't dislike *Jacob* at all.

He was great on the station.

We got the Normandy and I went to talk to him, then... my femshep apparently lost her freakin' mind.

I reloaded, thought I'd somehow caused this, only to find out there was no getting around it.

So, I ignored him until I had to speak to him to get his loyalty mission, then never spoke to him again.

It had nothing to do with Jacob, and everything to do with me being able control my character's reactions.

If that had happened with any other characters, they would have been ignored too.

Just sayin'.

I'm not a big fan of Jacob. I'm not a racist at all... it's just hard to relate to a dry indecisive piece of toast like Jacob. Just wish he was more lively. Now don't go over board and make him like Coal Train from Gears.. The Priiize is bad enough without adding that to it.

Lol, there are 2 things I (as a female) disliked about Jacob's romance. First, the way it was almost forced on me due to FemShep's voice. Of cource, that is not Jacob's fault=). But in does make interacting with him deeply unpleasant.
As for his own romance behavior, I don't like how "Miranda deserves a better man". Sooo, Jacob considers himself not good enough for Miranda, but good enough for Shepard? Lol, just lol. This line alone is enough reason for me to NEVER consider romancing Jacob. Sorry, I'm not picking up another girl's leftovers.

As for the priiiiize - seriosly, this line is not bad. It is quite funny, and was intended that way.

The problem is a lot of characters' development seems weak because ME 2 was either romance or bust. There was no "friend" option like their was in DA. Jacob, if nothing else, seemed primed to become a good and loyal friend but instead turns out to be a flat caricature. The other characters also had dead ends if you weren't sleeping with them...

You couldn't sleep with Shale, Morrigan (if you were a woman) and several other characters but most had touching lines when you reached the friendship phase and all of them gave you a stirring speech when the last battle came.

Slightly off-topic, but I wonder...Am I the only one who really, honestly likes Carth? In fact, he is my 3-rd favourite KOTOR1 character, right after Jolee and Canderos. Don't remember him whining much. Yep, he's paranoid, but still loyal and friendly, despite his paranoia. Which is not completely baseless, by the way=). And some of the lines PC can use in his dialogue are hilarios.

No you're not Beholderess. A lot of woman liked him. But if you're male, it's hard to like him because for the first times you talk to him, he has trust issues. Other than that I have no problem with him.

Out of all of the party members in KOTOR, my favorite was Jolee hands down.

Agreed.
Lol, even in ME1 it was possible to just remain friends, and your squadmates did not stop talking to you because of that.
Jack is the most frunstrating of ME2 bunch, by the way. It looks like there is simply no way to make her warm up to Shep unless you romance her. No way al all. I tend to play female characters, and my only male Shepard stayed true to Ash, so I've never seen Jack's "soft side" except on youtube. So for me she remains an annoying one.

Yeah, after a certain point she just thinks you are trying to have sex with her and tells you to get out.  Everyone is pretty much like that.  Tali says suit-sharing is an intimate thing, then turns around and awkwardly plays with a console, never speaking to you again.

Yeah, Jolee is the best!
Well, I play both male and female characters. Weirdly enough, I liked Carth in both instances. The fact that he has trust issues but still never considers abandoning you (well, unless you turn evil at the very end of the game) is quite endearing. However, I couldn't like Bastila on female playthrough. Oh, I really liked her as a romance option for male (two opposites brought together by fate and Force and so on=). For female character, however, she remained distant, preachy and cold. I could never imagine her as a friend to female Revan, while Carth, eventually, became a friend for male one.
But his orange coat is weird=)
