Yeah his romance kind of feels like....you have to be completely submissive to get anywhere with him.  i was playing with just my natural answers and ended up breaking up because he just wouldn't open up to me about anything.

Strange that you would describe it as "submissive".  Most people describe it as somewhat being forced to aggresively come on to him like a horny schoolgirl and that's fine with me. My femshep hasn't got any action in 2 years. What do you expect femshep to do in those circumstances when Jacob walks around in that skin tight outfit showing of his muscles? ^_^

Only she was dead or comatose the whole time, so it's not like she'd have noticed her love life had tanked. And goody for you and all, but it's not fine with practically everyone else, which in an RPG like this means, as developers, you've f*cked-up.

What do you expect femshep to do in those circumstances when Jacob walks around in that skin tight outfit showing of his muscles? ^_^

Act like a responsible adult in a position of authority?   I can see "Border/Crossed-the-line Sexual Harassment Shepard" being a renegade option (not the option, but an option), but not  the default behavior.  When it comes to romances, the default behavior should always be "Devs not making stupid-ass assumptions about how I like to play my game Shepard".

Interestingly enough, most of the women I've spoken to who have actually played ME2 seem to like and appreciate Jacob quite a bit.   Around the time of ME2's release he practically had a fan club at You Tube with admirers uploading their romantic sequences with him.

But it's true, Jacob just gets way too much hate.

Actually, I used to quite like him until I saw his snotty little comments to Tali and Thane. Come on, dude. We're all working for the same goal here that will likely fail horribly if we're all bickering; do you really have to be a complete ass to Tali and Thane?

Also, given the fact that he himself is distrustful of TIM, he should also cut some slack for other people that distrust Cerberus.

That didn't bother me at all, in fact I thought those exchanges were pretty funny.  And it was one of the only times Jacob dropped his nice guy  act.     Besides, Jacob was doing what he always does, sizing up the new person coming on-board.  I actually like that he does that.    He had given Tali a compliment and then she behaved like a smart ass over his being a member of Cerberus, so Jacob followed it up with "Be sure to say hi to the ship's AI"      Jacob is clearly grinning about this, and though we can't see Tali's face, her eyes are almost burning through her mask.  Lol!    So we know what that was all about, no harm done.    Just two people checking the space between themselves.

And  later Jacob acknowledges how upset Tali will be once she realizes that there's a Geth on-board the Normandy.   So he was already past that tiny moment of tension they had earlier.

Oh come on. I'll give you Thane but he wasn't being rude to Tali in the least. He was about as polite as you can get. There is no basis to assume he was being a smart a** when he mentioned EDI. That just isn't his personality.

Why is "actually played" italicized? Every woman on these forums has actually played ME2... or we wouldn't be here.

And Jacob does not get hate. Try not to use this thread as an example, it began with an accusation which made people defensive and testy.

In reality we all appreciate him for the comedic value he represents on the forums. Every time I see him I laugh now, just about. I appreciate him for the lulz. I can't imagine him not being in my crew as a reminder of the laughs.

true, his memes have become memorable from forum exposure... even his loyalty mission is better because people on the forums have so comprehensively dissed it.
(Jacob on roidz? He doesn't looked overbeefed enough to be on roidz.)

Ehh, I could care less for Jacob.  He's still more likable than, say, Zaeed.

Umm Zaeed sucks as a character (pretty solid in combat though) and is loyalty quest is lame.

I found parts of his monolouges humorous. It's not that difficult to sit through 3 lines of dialouge after every mission, you can get some funny stuff.

He's not my fav char, but his dialouge is at times funny and always appropriate for his char.

Zaeed doesn't have the... the... the... the priiiiize!! (ridiculous over-usage sorry)

I love Zaeed's tales of merc adventure.  They nearly always involve:

a. Stuff that's just plain messed up
b. Insane plans that were probably concocted while he and his pals were totally wasted
c. Pretty much everyone but Zaeed getting killed, which result was often his fault in some fashion

Plus, you have to shed a tear over the oh-so-bittersweet saga of Jesse The Assault Rifle, the one true love of Mr. Massani's life.   Also, never underestimate a Hanar.

well... 'cause Jacob is "just a normal, regular motherf***a"?

There's nothing interesting about him at all. I mean, I like him, he's Sheps friend but, he's extremely ordinary.

Zaeed should have been FemShep's 3rd love interest instead of Jacob. Image IPB

I like Garrus as a friend but romancing him is just plain gross to me. I find it pretty disturbing that a lot of people favor Garrus' romance over Jacob's. Maybe I'd better understand if he didn't look like a dinosaur.

For a moment, forget you know what any of them look like. Just think about what you know of their character.
Garrus is the best man on that ship. Maybe not the most attractive to most humans, maybe not the funniest (though he has his moments), but just way deep down he's got the finest heart of all of them.
Besides...turian Batman!

I think turian Punisher is closer, Batman tends to avoid killing the criminals. Plus Punisher uses guns like Garrus.

Considering romance with Garrus, I blame Shepard, it was her call after all. For those who think it's gross, think it from Garruses point of view too. Garrus was initially kinda weirded out with the tought of having sex with a intelligent, naked female alien ape :P. But true love goes beyond race or species.

Wait, Jacob is black?!

I only saw bland character.
