The more points you spend in combat tactics, the more scripts you can use for your party members, thus you can make more complex series of actions.

If you plan to micro manage your party and not let them go off on their own often, it's a waste of points.

Play FFXII and get a feel for gambits.

They are insanely useful

Also note that it's for additional slots. Your characters get more slots as they level up normally, so the combat tactic slots are a bonus.

I find it weird that I should use character development points for a tool that make the AI "smarter". That is one move I do not get at all. Why can´t I use all AI options from the start but rather have to manage everyone by hand and later on when I am familiar with the game need to supervise them less? Does not make sense, it should be the other way around. First don't bother until you get the hang of it and then start to micromanage. IMHO :-)

You can use it from the start, and you get script slots as you level up.  Combat Tactics just gives you extras.

If you wanna think about it from a in-game perspective, consider them like tactician points, the better tactician you are the more likely your comrades wil follow your tactics...i guess

I think it's stupid too, actually.  I don't care about any in-game explanation, as this is, to me, simply a quality of life issue.  It's like having to repair equipment .  Sure, it may make sense in-game, but it just makes playing less fun.

Things that make sense always make the game less fun... when they're missing.

I sorta like the idea. In concept it lets me customize my party AI to fit different situations. We'll see how it plays out I suppose..

Well, then don't use it.

Doing otherwise would be like complaining that the bow skills are useless for your melee-only playthrough.

Arttis, from what I've seen from the in-gameplay, you will be VERY hard pressed to survive one battle alone, let alone an entire game solo.

I love that this game will be challenging...too many games out there are too friggin easy! *cough* I'm prolly gonna eat my words for this, since I've played some incredibly frustratingly hard games in my career.  Posted Image

I don't see why you should have an opinion on the issue, since you'll be playing in puppet mode regardless...?

I also think it would make sense if we had to eat and drink several times a day.  Oh, and take our armor off when we rest, and perform certain biological functions.  That would make sense, so obviously it would make the game more fun, too.

You'll be missing out on a bunch of the story. If what you're after is a challenge, you'd probably be better off taking some NPCs and upping the difficulty.

The story will be for the rest of my playthroughs. I already know one ending im fine with knowing i can still immerse myself in the game and still make the wrong choices.

I have a feeling if you play without companions you're gonna be on these forums a week later talking about how much the game sucks. It's been completely designed around having a team of interactive and interesting NPCs.

That plus it'll probably be overwhelmingly difficult even on the easiest challenge setting.

If I'd actually known what the thread was asking from reading the subject header, I probably wouldn't have come in here.

I'm willing to treat some of those as abstractions, as long as the game doesn't explicitly contradict those abstractions.

This is why I'm fine with not eating, but I dislike uneven death mechanics.
