I have a Radeon HD 4850 video card for Windows7 64-bit.

Dragon Age deadlocks all input for a solid 10-20 seconds to bring up the game, or when I quit that game. Same when I try to alt tab out or click outside the game when running in windowed mode (my personal favorite). This was extremely frustrating and took quite a while to track down.

I recently had upgraded the drivers to 10-3 trying to fix other games (Unreal Engine 3 games specifically). When I reverted the drivers back to 9-12, the problem went away.

Morale of the story, don't update the ATI drivers until they fix them. Sympathy of anyone else that wasted hours of their lives trying to figure this crap out.

There might a problem with the new drivers and the HD 4850 in particular. I am running HD 5870 on 10.3 with Windows 7 64-bit and no problems with this game.

Which sub-species of 4850 is this? There's more than one. It could be brand related as well. Different brands of the same cards can have different drivers.

Its the XFX HD 4850. I thought the problem was fixed, but it somehow came back.

Sorry, two Sapphire 4850's in CorssFireX mode here, no issues with Catalyst 10.2 or 10.3. Running Windows 7 64-bit.
