all my achievment data was lost. Normally this wouldn't bother me too much--i'd just do it again. But now i can't earn achievments at all! Or rather, it gives them to me, but doesn't save them. If i save, and then load my game, they are reset again. It was strange... the game just crashed suddenly when my laptop overheated (didn't realize the vent was covered. >..> ) I let my laptop cool down for a few hours and rebooted it, everything was fine, no corrupt files, etc etc... However, when i opened up mass effect 2 it acted like it was the first time, giving me all the welcome messages, telling me how to activate cerberus etc etc. It asked me to select a career from the start, it saved them, but acted like I had never played them. All my ahcievment data was lost, and now it won't save achievments. I uninstalled, reinstalled from the disk, same problem. Backed up saves on a flash drive, deleted, unistalled and reinstalled from the disk again and started a new game, still doesn't save achievments. Kinda ruins the game, huh?
--forgot to add this quick note, it just struck me as important all of a sudden.
Before this happened, i had not had a single issue with mass effect 2 on my computer, it always ran properly, with no lag or any kind of visible issue. Pretty much did exactly what it was supposed to do. The initial crash was caused by my laptop overheating, but mass effect 2 seemed to have reacted badly to that.
